1. Contrary to what I remember, Own3d.tv actually runs smoothly on my European connection. Watching 1080p streams during the European peak hours (18:00 to 23:00) can be tricky yet Own3d.tv seems up to the task. Video image quality is exactly the same as on Twitch.tv 2. Viewership is down since the switch. But it seems those lost eyeballs were mostly children and teenagers. As a result the chat has cleared up drastically. I even found myself in a decent conversation with a few other guys on there. That just doesn't happen on Twitch's web chat interface. 3. I was against Destiny switching when he first announced it. From what I remembered, Own3d.tv was a horrible service. But I gave it a shot and found out they improved their service drastically.

I understand why some people want to use separate IRC clients, but honestly it is 2011 not back in the Quake/CS 1.5 days, Own3d has to implement a proper chat if they want to compete with the other stream companies.

I don't disagree with you on the web chat interface. But those things are not meant to serve a stream population of several thousands of viewers.

How is the Twitch thing a proper chat? You can hardly even stop the scrollbar scrolling the text down when new text comes. Sometimes people just complain about every change. The quality of the stream is so much higher on owned, it is almost absurd. You could see that very well yesterday on Grubby's tournament too, if you switched between the HD streams of different casters, some using Twitch, some using Owned.

I pretty much pass him up now since he swapped from twitch. Sucks that the streaming service used can make such a difference. It's weird though, I'm from the same city as you, and I can watch his stream without any lag at all. I still don't like the switch, but at least he's still streaming. ![]()

As I read your post, the stream hiiccuped a couple of times, so I guess we are routed differently. Not quite cutting it for me, and what's up with the video glitches?

Also own3d is pretty laggy. ![]() It's not only that. Ret have upgrades his computer and is doing loads of commentating. A lot of Korean players have started to stream and ForGG for instance gets 3-4k viewers easily. Stephano is in Korea and get 8-9k viewers when he's streaming.

Yeah he talks a lot and can't live up to it but it will only hurt him more.
