At least you can say you believed in your own team until the end Now support Belgium with me. Surely you don't want the Welsh to reach the semis and humiliate the English further I put down our team. Cuz they deserved it. Fatih Terim deserved it. Seriously I think Turkey was the worst team in the tournament.
Ahem... nope it was Austria for sure ...

On the bright side, i guess we can congratualte Clattenburg for refereeing the finals.

Also England fans are over their loss.

The problem is right there. Each and every cup, be it Euro or Worlds, they are labelled as favorites. It's somewhat understandable in World Cups since they won one long ago, but their results are abysmal in Euro. The fact that their national league is good doesn't mean much since almost all the players from national teams come from good clubs as well. If they were seen as outsiders, they could probably deliver for once. Really though it's England's own fault - they themselves hype up the English team time and time and time again to no ends, with very little to base the hype on.
This time around it was a little more justified I think based on the qualifiers, but usually England is blind hype every international tournament.
My best example would be the BBC pre and post game commentary for the 2010 exit against Germany. It should have been clear to everyone at that point that Germany has a freaking strong team, yet they talk them down and hype up an English side with blatantly obvious flaws to an extend that just doens't make sense anymore - and can only set you up for disappointment.

You do not have to have like up to 6 very good goalies like the germans but the quality between english aluminum is meh² England has no tradition in sports where ball handling is required. Volleyball, Basketball, Handball - English national teams are abysmal in all of these games, while other European nations usually can compete in at least some of them. (cricket balls and handeggs are not comparable to a football)
I think there might be a connection.

Germans aren't that good at ball handling sports either. Nowitzki is an exception. But still Germany has soooo many good keepers.

It's even worse and doesn't make sense :o I just like to see good football (France hasn't produced that so far), and I'm annoyed at how overmediatized they are compared to the Hand/Basket/Volleyball teams and to other great teams that are in this Euro. you can't blame the french football team to be overmediatized since it's the biggest sport out there, specially during the euro happening in france

Well, our Handball team is pretty far up, I mean we are currently EU Champions
But i guess, it's got more to do with goalie training and education anyway.

But yeah, I also think it is more about the training, and also the prestige. Basically in Germany we always had great goalies, everyone praised our goalies. This also means that kids feel like being a goalie is cool, they have idols to look up to.
Now look at England. The goalie is always the asshole. Not sure how you convince any talented kid to put himself between the posts. And even if you do... there are no real idols, most of English goalies are more known for their comedy acts than for their goalkeeping.

Peter Shilton was rly good and David Seaman was a solid goalkeeper. After Seaman, there was a black hole when it comes to goalkeepers, but then Hart ended that period. I would say that England's biggest problem is lack of good manager/lack of individual tactical education. Football thats being played in PL is attractive and enjoyable to watch, but it lacks tactical depth to compete with the rest of the Europe.
Alex Ferguson is a big exception here, and if England was smart, they should have based their national team on 90s ManU and the work of Sir Alex.
Every other CL success from 90s to present day came from foreign manager/foreign players.

Mad props to Iceland lol, Kings in the North!!

And their past groupstage failures were not that much better: 88: 4th, 0 points. Opponents: Ireland, Netherlands, SU 92: 4th, 2 points. Opponents: Sweden, Denmark, France (France was also eliminated in that group) 00: 3rd, 3 points. Opponents Portugal, Romania, Germany (Germany finished the group 4th with 1 points, England lost to POR and ROM)
We at least performed last 2 world cups (finals and semi fknals). England is always terrible. That 88 group was pretty insane. Netherlands and sovjet union were both finalists.
