Pande is one of the few people on this forum that actually fully supported their own team. It means you get a lot of shit when they go out. Especially if they do go out like England did yesterday lmao.
Still, I prefer Pande's approach over all the French/German dudes on this forum who constantly put their own team down so as to not be disappointed. Or just so they can say "I told you so" when they lose. It's a pretty coward thing to do imo.
So come out of hiding Pande. Talk shit about your manager and players with the rest of us. At least you can say you believed in your own team until the end
Now support Belgium with me. Surely you don't want the Welsh to reach the semis and humiliate the English further

its still amazing how stacked the bottom of the grid is compared to the top. I mean Portugal and Belgium did not look all too strong this tourney while one of them is most certainly going to be in the finals. PS. Pande is the man. Too bad his team went all England again.

Imo only 3 teams looked strong in groups: Italy, Germany, and Croatia.
It's a shame Italy and Germany clash so early. Put them in different groups and it could be the finals of the tournament.

Wow so yesterday happened...
Italy looking like a title contender Icelands fanbase just multiplied by the 1000 (also i heard they got the best girls over there, even better than the swedish ^_^) Englands fanbase just got multiplied by zero
HYPE for quarters is definitely on!! 2 days without football though ((
Italy - Germany: Oh man, a bit scared here. On paper I'd give Germany a slight advantage, but Italy's got the psychological advantage. I'm expecting a very boring tactical chess match which could go either way (if Low has learned his lesson that is)
Poland - CR7: Poland has got a team and will take this, 2:1
Wales - Belgium: Hard call. Hazard and Bryune heating up vs Bales on fire. 0:2
France - Vikings: Head=2:0, Heart=0:2
|
Germanyyyy!!! Not that I would be a fan, but they can send home the Papparazzi!!!!!
Otherwise of course, go Iceland!!! Because Iceland is the team, with whom we were fighting for the first place in our qualification group (when Netherlands was fighting with Turkey for the third spot). And we won. So if Iceland wins it all, it is almost as if we win it all :-)

"Did you see that ludicrous display last night?" "See, the thing with England is, they always try to walk it in." "What was Hodgson thinking, bringing Vardy so late?"

I'm right now quite confused about all those "old English legends" bashing their team for their performance, describing it at the worst moment of English football history etc. Have they forgotten that they never achieved jackshit in their own active career with the national team either? Do they all feel better now, that the next generation is messing up as badly as they did in the past?
Again: England has not won a single knockout game for 10 years in EC/WC, but also has only won a single EC-knockout game in history. So no, this wasn't the worst moment in English football history. It was just like every other tourney before.

You cannot compare losing to Iceland with losing to Germany/Portugal/Italy.
Ofc there are plenty cups were they didn't get out of group phase so calling it the worst moment in football history is indeed somewhat exaggerated.

Well getting out of a group with Wales,Russia and Slovakia can absoluteley not count as an acomplishment, especially with this new format.
|
Hey, they qualified! Unlike Netherlands 2016, or England themselves 2008. How can losing in the knockout phase be worse than not evn qualifiying 8 years ago?
And their past groupstage failures were not that much better: 88: 4th, 0 points. Opponents: Ireland, Netherlands, SU 92: 4th, 2 points. Opponents: Sweden, Denmark, France (France was also eliminated in that group) 00: 3rd, 3 points. Opponents Portugal, Romania, Germany (Germany finished the group 4th with 1 points, England lost to POR and ROM)

SO we can conclude that England just should never be rated as a favorite ever and then maybe the lowered expectations will enable them to do something meaningful.

The problem is right there. Each and every cup, be it Euro or Worlds, they are labelled as favorites. It's somewhat understandable in World Cups since they won one long ago, but their results are abysmal in Euro. The fact that their national league is good doesn't mean much since almost all the players from national teams come from good clubs as well. If they were seen as outsiders, they could probably deliver for once.

If France hasn't produced good football so far then no team did except maybe Italy

And I disagree, France looked clueless vs Romania, uninspired vs Albania, decently exciting vs Switzerland, and uninspired vs Ireland if not for Griezmann. Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Spain and Croatia all produced better football, either in group stage or in the Ro16.

And by the way can someone explain to me how it can be possible for a country like England to produce only goalies who are mediocre at best? You do not have to have like up to 6 very good goalies like the germans but the quality between english aluminum is meh²

Well the funny thing is. On average the goalies arent bad. But they have some curse where they manage to fuck something up in a major tournament.

I put down our team. Cuz they deserved it. Fatih Terim deserved it. Seriously I think Turkey was the worst team in the tournament.
