Yay, another night of football. Didn't see a thread up so I took the liberty of making one.
![[image loading]](http://img.uefa.com/imgml/flags/50x50/DEN.png) Denmark vs Germany Info regarding the game.Germany will qualify as group winners if they draw, but will be knocked out if they lose to Denmark by any result other than a one-goal defeat in which Germany score at least two and Portugal beat the Netherlands.
Denmark will progress with any win; a draw will only be good enough if Portugal lose. If Denmark lose they are out. Match Events:
19' GOAAAAAAAAL: Lukas Podolski (GER) 0-1 23' GOAAAAAAAAL: Krohn-Dehli (DEN) 1-1 79' GOAAAAAAAAL: Bender (GER) 1-2 Final Score: Denmark 1 - 2 Germany Portugal vs Netherlands thread here.

still cant believe Müller did score that goal.
btw. thanks for starting the LR thread ^________________^
|
Yeah, crazy save from Andersen.
|
Andersen showing how much of a boss he is today!
EDIT: And thanks for the LR - btw, Holland 1-0 Portugal
|
|
Netherlands have taken the lead, so Denmark are through if this score stays.

Oh yeah that's probably it.

This is going to be an awesome game!!!
|
Looked like some pretty shitty marking by the Germans at the equaliser. Nice headers by the Danes though.
|
|
Good luck danes. You'll need it.

oh well, as long as germany advances and portugal doesn't, I'm a happy panda

Great goal by the danish. Now we are forced to score more. Fighting!

1-1 between Netherlands and Portugal

Damn it has taken so long for Ronaldo to be rewarded for his play, he has been world class as always in terms of his running and positioning, finally he also gets a goal. Crazy how much of Portugal's attacking threat comes from him.
|
That was gomez how we know him. :D

|
Portugal playing so well.
|
Oh no.. That freekick placement Ô_Ô

Freekick litterally on the line of the penalty box - Denmark playing with the fire as per usual

Yeah, it's insane. You look at the group, before the first match was played nobody would think Denmark had a shot in hell at getting out. I mean they're a good team right now but still, look at the contenders.

Yeah same for me (German^^). The official stream was decent (some lags but watchable). Then it somehow turned into worse than free gomtv stream quality. The ball looks like it is from minecraft
Switched to an "illegal" restream (and hey the English commentators beat the Germans anyway).

Why do we have to carry the ball into the goal like Spain? We have Gomez, we could try crosses. We also could try shooting, for once. But nooooo, everyone expects Özil to do some crazy stuff that makes als Danish defenders disappear....

Goal from Portugal is turned down for Postiga being offside. Still 1-1 in that match.

Props to Morten Olsen, tactically excellent. I'm getting a bit scared right now...

The german offense has not been looking good in any of the three games in my opinion. As long as Gomez made every shot that didn't really interest anybody. I don't know, I would really like to see some variety with Kroos or Reus thrown in.

Definately. Even though he scored the goal (nearly shooting the keeper :x) Schürrle >>> Podolski. And not much going on when Özil is shut down.

Unlucky Denmark, but you really impressed during this tournament. #1 in Scandinavia, by a mile.

Germany! I'm sure they're all ecstatic to get Greece in the quarters >< It's a shame Denmark couldn't make it though too with the run they had.
I still can't believe how Holland disappointed this EURO
|
Germany wins the match with 2-1! Denmark kind of got robbed of a great chance at advancing, when Badstuber pulled Bendtner's shirt for several seconds in the penalty box.
So, Germany and Portugal advance. Denmark fought well for 3 games and got so damn close. Better luck next time, neighbours!
|
GG Germany, you were better and deserve the #1 spot... Damned that it had to be Portugal (of all countries) that made it 2#
Oh well, Im rooting for Germany from this point on

Too bad the danish wont advance. Germany played a strong groupstage ... Hopefully they can reach the finals.
|
Wonder how emotional the Greece vs Germany match will be...
|
GG Denmark, was a close game.
Now, I'm really, really afraid that we'll fail against Greece. They'll have a well-organized defense, just like Denmark, and we've proven that we currently lack the ideas and the movement to break down such a team. Furthermore, Greece can be happy with stalling out the game, waiting for their one opportunity or even take it to penalties - Denmark at least had to score, which is what led to the 2-1.
Hope Löw is going to adjust this time and keep Gomez/Podolski out, they've been useless for most of the match. I know they scored - but so did Bender, and he'll find himself benched at the blink of an eye.
|
Well...that was certainly closer than i initially expected it to be.
Happy for Bender though. Pretty excited for friday.
|
i really dont like a system where a team that won the first two games can still be eliminated, while at the same time a team that lost the first two (the netherlands in that case) can still advance. on the other hand i dont know what could be changed to the system :p

yup i know that, but it just doesn't feel right that a team being 2-0 can still be eliminated and a team being 0-2 can still advance

Den & Ger talk prior to the game. 3-2 Den. Both team automatically advance.
Great system! I think most people have a problem that the game against Ned was completely meaningless since it's not relevant for the tiebreaker at all.
|
feeling sad and dissapointed right now. We wasn't better and from 60min to 75 germany has entire ball posession and you could just sit waiting for the goal to come ;( holland loosing as well didn't help either. if only we didn't let that goal in in 86th min vs portugal and had atleast 1 point but no. gratz germany. please take on portugal
|
that was a solid and mature play by the young german team. I remember being much more afraid in the past in similar situations because our team tends to get nervous alot especially if everyone expects them to win (germany always shines when they are not the favourite). Being in a situation where EVERYONE expects them to win and being in a situation where one single unlucky goal can mean that you are going home is incredible hard. It is also hard to play against a 11 man defense, it wont look good and afterwards everyone trashes the offense as usual - even the spanish would not have created many chances in such a situation (denmark >>> ireland) The danish did what they could but the german team waited for their inevitable chances and didn't allow many chances also. Huge respect for the danish performance though. I was warning everyone prior to this Euro that this team is a force to be reconed with.
Gives me a little hope that we will be able to beat the 11man greek 90+ minutes defense.

well, it worked out for us so i'm happy after all .. I'd agree with you if the two scenarios were related but it wasn't like the Dutch could get in at the expense of the Germans. If the Dutch got it it meant Germany had to also. Not to mention if they changed it to fix your issue, the draw would be more important because if you 0-2 you'd be out even if two teams are 1-1 and they both lost g3 so why bother trying put up a result instead of giving younger players experience and essentially gifting 2nd in the group to whoever you played third.
I do wish they'd use overall GD as the first tiebreaker like the WC but I can understand why they dont.

The way we raised from 0-2 to 2-2 vs portugal was beautiful and showed we can come back even after being down so bad and that we're capable of it. I'm still pissed about the penalty not being given - it was screaming to the sky and I think it would have meant the match would've looked a lot different. But oh well, the referee is human and besides this one, which can be hard for the on-field referee to see, he did an excellent job.
GG and GL to Germany in the quarterfinals!

We wasn't better and from 60min to 75 germany has entire ball posession and you could just sit waiting for the goal to come ;( holland loosing as well didn't help either. if only we didn't let that goal in in 86th min vs portugal and had atleast 1 point but no. gratz germany. please take on portugal Don't be sad! Denmark played really well in this group. You don't need to be in the knock-out stage for people to call you a good team. Thanks we're keeping our heads high. i think we can be proud of our boys with the overall performance defintely. The way we raised from 0-2 to 2-2 vs portugal was beautiful and showed we can come back even after being down so bad and that we're capable of it. I was really optimistic tho that we could make it through with germany especially when they're our neighbours <3 when it was 1-1 and holland had 1-0 i prayed for it to stay like that til 90min xD Beating netherlands and making portugal sweat a little was more than most of the world thought we could do

I hoped so hard that germany and denmark would go on in the tournament but... Well this way germany is the best team (point wise) in the groupstage, that's nice too.

I think the Germany game was really good to, they lost it getting hit on the counter trying to win the game, otherwise the Germans were given a real run for their money..

for the majority of the game i felt like the german team didn't realize how close to elimination they truly were, while the danes were fighting for their lives

Denmark needed a win desperately to go through, yet they elected to defend with 10 men while the score was 1:1. If Germany would have gone all out attack to try and secure the win, they would have been extremely vulnerable on the counter.
Big parts of the second half may not have been the most attractive German football we have seen. It was smart football though, keeping possession for the most part, attacking, trying to find a gap in the 10 men defense, but not throwing everything at them.
It was only when Denmark realized that this way they won't create enough chances (if any) that they moved up and tried attacking themselves, and subsequently became vulnerable on the counter.
