TSL4 starts this weekend, which means it is time for a good old-fashioned bracket contest.

Enter Here

From that link simply make an account or log-in, and then click the Predict It! button at the top to get started. You will fill out each round individually, and then click enter to move to the next series of matches. After completing all five rounds it will tell you the prediction is complete, and you can view the list of entries or look at the leader board. If you want to change your predictions, simply navigate to your bracket and choose the "Click here to cancel and delete this prediction" option at the bottom.

If you would like to share your bracket, click "My Brackets" in the navigation bar at the top of the screen and choose "TSL4 Official" from the "My Predictions" section. Simply copy and paste the URL from your browser into your post on TeamLiquid. This page will have a leaderboard, updated after each broadcast with the latest standings.

All brackets must be completed before Saturday, Jul 28 6:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Winners will be contacted by the email address used to register on the site, so please keep it to an email you will remember to check at the conclusion of the contest.

Prizes

The top 5 finishes will each receive a TeamLiquid shirt signed by the TSL winner, not to mention the adoration and peer respect that comes with being immortalized as the top predictor of a major SC2 event.

You have until the first broadcast this weekend to complete your brackets, happy picking and good luck!

Some how I came up with Naniwa winning, picked him over Squirtle in the Ro4. Not sure if he can do that but he should be able to.

Edit-Its interesting to see how much faith some people have in the non-Korean players in early rounds, I have absolutely none.

A little optimistic considering Zergs, but I reckon Nani will be out for blood after his "TSL loser". Of course, it'll be a lot to chew given all the Zergs I think he'll have to face to get there.

A lot of people are posting links without the user ID in it, which redirects to the person's own brackets. I was surprised at a moment thinking someone had picked the exact same thing as me

Hardest matches to call for me;
BabyKnight vs Vortix - Dont know much about either player so after some quick reading went with Vortix, mainly guess/gut feeling though
Coca vs Creator - PvZ from two of the best online players of their respective races, should be an epic series
Major vs Naniwa - Major hasnt played in a lot of big tournaments recently so hard to guage his skill level but if hes playing anywhere near his best then this could be the match of the tournament

Ultimately I have Taeja vs Naniwa for the finals, with Naniwa winning.

I have taeja over squirtle in the finals. Nani I have making it pretty deep, sase as well. Ret, I really, really wanted to take round 1, but after seeing him lose all of his BL in that one bad engagement, I just can't do it. I hope he's working really hard against protoss to prove me wrong. he has the mechanics and talent, now he just needs to get the engagements and army control worked out.

edit* My bracket. By the way, ret proving me wrong will completely destroy my chances of winning, but here's hoping anyway!!! Liquid Fighting!!

Just realized Naniwa has a pretty easy bracket and can easily advance to the semi if he can defeat Hyun and Keen. Given that Naniwa almost beat DRG in a close PvZ and has already beaten Keen in the Ro16 during this current GSL, I think Naniwa has a great chance to get into semi along with Squirtle, Taeja, and Coca.

I have some trouble seeing 6 out of 8 players in the Ro8 being Zerg; Ret beating Squirtle, for example? Maybe, but I think it's unlikely. Then again, this is the tournament of upsets.

Silly bracket as well ST team kill in every round for me Squirtle beating his teams mates in round of 8 and round of 4 to get to final.
Naniwa goes out round 1 to Jrecco. Ret got worst draw possible ^_^

I think foreigners (specifically, Liquid players) will work and prepare a lot harder. I can see Ret beating Squirtle, it's quite a long shot, but perhaps I'll be right. I got FXO (maybe) and Seed (maybe) right (hopefully) and they were both 1% on the poll, so maybe my luck will continue ^^

I've got fraer as my cinderella, advancing two rounds until losing to curious.

http://www.bracketmaker.com/predict.cfm?parent=815857&user=446318

The part of the bracket that I really don't know about is the thorzain/hasu/mana/hack section. I could see any one of those 4 coming out of that.

Creator should do well since it's online, I have him taking it. Although I worry about the matchup with Coca a bit (assuming coca gets past sase, which may be a bad assumption lol).

left side quite foreigner-friendly; many PvPs (qq) including finals Mana vs Nani
Will the site generate some kind of statistics from those predictions ? If so, it would be nice to have them used during the show

It seems almost impossible for Hyun to not end up in at least Ro4 here. Southeast is definitely easiest corner of the bracket.

You don't think any of the following - Major, Naniwa, Keen - have a chance to beat Hyun, at all? That's some craaazy talk.

For some reason the final did not have the names I first expected when I started off my predictions. I got TaeJa as winner, his greatest difficulty would be First in the second round.

You must go to "Your Bracket" and click the link to get your personal user ID.

Currently you're all just linking to the default "Predict It!" page, which will only show everyone's own prediction.

People saying you have the same prediction as others: you don't . It's because the others posted the wrong link, which redirects to you own bracket.

Thorzain vs Naniwa rematch with Thorzain to win. I'm probably dreaming but would be sick. Expecting Taeja, Squirtle, Sase to also have good runs.

I'm expecting the lesser known Koreans like Hoon and Life to take the TSL pretty seriously, since its their chance at some international recognition, but at the end of the day I think one of the Koreans with experience of big tournaments will take it.

Going for a Hack upset through most of the bracket to take it all. A lot of what I've got here is sort of based on favourites with only a few upsets.

But this is TSL guys. Most likely BabyKnight takes it all.

EDIT: Looking through predictions and most people have Taeja or Naniwa taking it all. Fair few Squirtle, Creator and Coca predictions also. Generally have to agree, these are the favourites.

I honestly think Taeja is probably the favourite of favourites. That kid is good at online cups.

This is a really tough choice, but I'm enjoying really thinking deliberately about who is going to win.

I don't know what I'm doing. Well to be honest the last one was pretty crazy too so who knows what will happen. Upsets will be plenty in this tournament.

EDIT: fixed bracket link

You need your user ID. Check the instructions in the opening post.

For a second I thought you predicted the exact same thing as me! =P

Squirtle 4-3 over Taeja.

Looking bleak for foreigners, heh.

Ah, well, the fun is always in the results you didn't predict, anyway, but I couldn't be bothered to make a totally outrageous bracket in the off chance I'd be right in the end.

Someone who did will be the winner in the end, I'm sure.

By the way - this site uses plaintext to store your password, it seems, so don't use a password that you use elsewhere on the internet.

How did you guys choose to use this site? It seems pretty janky (auto-playing noisy ads, facebook integration doesn't really work, plaintext passwords...)

I had to choose a couple upsets, but I don't think there will be as many as last TSL. I think he Koreans have learned to play cross-server much better. ANyways Naniwa > Taeja in the finals. Thorzain out fist round. I hope that prediction is wrong, but I needed an upset =/

Holy shit. Our brackets... they're identical. Nooo! I can't win now.

We can share the draw though, it's okay.

Edit: Just realized there's an aditional two other people in this thread (that i've seen) that have the same identical Sase vs Nani in the finals bracket. It means something. This will happen. I know it.

Probably going to get killed as I suck with predictions, but here is mine: http://www.bracketmaker.com/predict.cfm?parent=815857&user=447284

And yes my bracket is a little biased towards HyuN.

Ok people you really need to add the user= part to the end of link. Go to "my brackets n then click on tsl4 and use that link, otherwise everybody just sees their own >.>

Do you win by predicting the most correct, or is it the most correct prediction with a correct winner prediction...how is a high finish determined?

ps. seems to be a lot of repeat predictions, how does that factor in?...if theres more than 5 with the same (who are leading) will they have to predict scores of semi's or finals?

really hard for me to predict but I really think that Ret can beat Squirtle and I think Naniwa will play against Nerchio in finals and Nerchio will just be to strong btw Naniwa´s worst mu is against zerg but I would love to see my ro8 and I bet many of you agree with me... Like Nerchio vs taeja kas vs ret and keen vs naniwa would be epic but GG

My Ro32 Upsets (based on seed):

Beastyqt over Sting
First over Daisy
Fraer over Kas
Squirtle over Ret
Babyknight over Vortix

Not too bold, but it also means I have Sase over Coca.

Later round predictions includes Nerchio over Taeja in the Ro8 and Sase over Nerchio in the semis. I feel like I'm going to get the most burned though by the three ST players in the upper right. I could see Curious or Life taking down Squirtle just because they're teammates and anything can happen on "any given Sunday." But I can't assume Squirtle losing and not getting to face Naniwa in the semis, so here we are.

http://www.bracketmaker.com/predict.cfm?parent=815857&user=447626

On one hand, I think there's going to be less upsets than TSL3 because the competitive scene is much more mature than it was in May 2011 (the transformative MLG Columbus hadn't happened yet). Koreans are regularly part of foreign tournaments and foreign players are known in Korea. Most of the people who made it into the tournament are very established even if they're not considered the absolute best of the best. I feel like there's more known quantities this year.

But, it's crazy to reflect that the only person in both TSL3 and TSL4 (aside from the invites) is Hasuobs. And as a casual fan, there's still eight players (25%) that I hadn't really heard of until this tournament. NCAA brackets show that there's always more upsets in the first couple rounds than anyone ever expects. Not to be evil, but here's a thought experiment: instead of looking for the next breakout star a la Thorzain and Naniwa, look for the established players that will be irrelevent in another 15 months.

2. First
3/4. Squirtle/Creator
5-8. Mana/Sting/Life/Keen

I'm putting my eggs in the Hyun basket. I do not expect any major upsets.

My predictions

Step 1: Cross reference ELO of both Korea and International TLPD.
Step 2: Korea has heavier influence on decision.
Step 3: Where the FCUK are the maps [???]
Step 4: If player just has to play 1 match-up, must favor into new round.

My bracket is surprisingly boring. I didn't realize I have so little faith in foreigners and don't really expect any upsets. But I would still rather see some foreigner upsets than have a decent (but non-winning) bracket.

I'd actually like it a ton if Taeja could beat CoCa, but imo CoCa is one of the top 5 Zerg players in the world, plus you don't play on SlayerS without getting a lot of practice versus Terran. I just hope HyuN can beat Squirtle; a TvZ/ZvZ finals would be awesome to see, especially out of HyuN and CoCa.

I see a Taeja vs (hopefully) Naniwa finals, but that right side bracket is quite a bit more stacked. And Taeja is probably one of the hardest players to bet against in any match up .

Here's my bracket

I voted with TLPD's help for the Ro32/16, but after that it was all from the heart. I think Nani has a really good shot at winning the whole thing, and I'm sure after coming so close last time he wants it baaaaaaad.

also i think you should be able to combine like 5 archons to make a really really shitty oliver stone film - Keanu_Reaver, bw balance genius

EDIT 2: Nvm figured it out
....unless Taeja suddenly parachutes into the studio with explosions behind him and lands on a skateboard which he jumps over the booth before jumping in. If that happened it would be so sweet it would be physically impossible for them to lose. - Haydin

My bracket:

http://www.bracketmaker.com/predict.cfm?parent=815857&user=447963

I hope that URL works. (If not, I have a Taeja-Squirtle finals. I didn't exactly go out on a limb.)

Taeja is on FIRE

...which means he won't win the entire thing.

When I first saw this bracket, I said Life, Taeja, and Vortix would be three of the four to make semi finals. Since we know Taeja can't win (bless his heart), I wondered: who could beat Taeja? Well, Coca! Coca beats Taeja, and then Vortix upsets everybody and everybody's expectations, and wins the entire thing

Oh well, my bracket is smashed. That's what I get for picking Naniwa to win the whole thing. Now I can just enjoy the games and drama on its own merits.

I went 50% this first week. I completely underestimated Kas, and regretted picking him to lose first round as soon as I read TL's Ro32 preview. Curious over Lalush and Keen over Welmu were probably the most boring series. Ret vs Squirtle and Major's comeback over Hyun were probably the best. Major is now my personal favorite, the guy I'm going to root to win over all common sense. Teamless, only North American (er, or American), Mexican living in Korea, amazing mech timings; what isn't there to like.

Vortix and JonnyRecco really impressed me as I don't know if I'd ever watched one of their games. I went with Babyknight because I had heard more hype around him, but Vortix's drop-style was both really different and completely solid.

I'm assuming JonnyRecco screwed up almost everyone's brackets, and I'm stunned he beat Naniwa in straight up macro games every time. Not to take anything away from JR, but the games really reminded me of Naniwa losing to Leenock at MLG. It felt like Naniwa was doing the same thing every time, and doing it in a way where he felt uncomfortable or slow, like he couldn't anticipate what his opponent was going to do. Nani's micro/macro looked perfect, but it seemed like all his timings were off. JR played super solid though, and his play looked like he had complete confidence, and not what you'd expect from a relatvie unknown going up against a code S player. Really fast hive tech pulled off perfectly.

Ouch, you're screwed, loosing 31 points on Nerchio alone :/

Their's a strong pattern in that foreigner-heavy predictions are doing very poorly, complete opposite of last year.

Nericho and Naniwa have ruined my bracket mainly. Other people I got wrong I only had lasting one more round, but I had Nericho with 2 wins and Naniwa with 4 =(

Hoping Hack brings me into some decent ranking, otherwise the rest of them I went with safe bets (Squirtle and Taeja almost allthe way).

I think you've got an interesting prediction with quite a unique top 4. If First beats Taeja next round you are golden! Remember, it's all about predicting the top placements correctly and with Nerchio out First's chances of reaching the semi actually increases

I've moved up again today, but I think CoCa losing probably fucked my chances of winning, I had him reaching the semis. Taeja losing probably messed up a lot more brackets though :D

Khaurus predicted foreigners upsetting Koreans every round and in foreigner matchups he usually choose the favorite. Would've been a great strategy last year. This year almost all the accomplished foreigners are out and the Koreans are raping foreigners left and right. And yes, toorgr is a known brackethacker.

Yeah I'm at 13th and no one above me is predicting First to win!(which he will) I don't know how the scoring works but hopefully I have a shot.

Edit: Oh on Liquidpedia I'm fourth! Yay.

On LP, above the scoreboards:
"Until before the grand finals, only users still having a chance to predict the winner is listed."

To get a scoreboard relevant to the actual contest we exclude brackets were the predicted winner is already eliminated,. Because points per correct prediction doubles for each additional round you lose a lot of potential points by having the selected winner eliminated early (see the "Roof" column in the LP leaderboard).

Your scoring roof is now 43 which means that from now on you literally have to nail every single prediction to even have a shot at the final top ten!

Interestingly last year the fifth placed predictor had Naniwa winning over Thorzain in the finals and because of Thorzains darkhorse nature many of the predictors below had incorrect finalist predictions as well. It seems like if your finalist is already out you had better hope that you nail everything else, get the other finalist correct and that a darkhorse(JonnyRecco?) takes it so as to screw up everyone elses bracket.

Edit: After a little researching(Yes I'm lame) I'm nearly positive I will place top 5 if First wins no matter the outcome of the other matches! I guess I could also maybe place if JonnyRecco wins against First in the finals but I'm not going to bother looking into that...

Edit2: Only 3 people chose JonnyRecco to win. Two of which look like joke brackets so it would be pretty hilarious if they won. The other two spots could likely be ridiculously close between many of the other predictors... Yeah other then this scenario you had better predict the winner to have a shot.

Yeah, last year only 4 users predicted a Thorzain win but regarding JRecco, have you actually went through 200 pages to count JRecco brackets??

Damn, maybe you'll get lucky if someone in the top 5 is unreachable?

I wonder how much time they'll give people to respond, just going to casually check my email every now and then for whenever I get that mail heh.
