Tyler vs Thorzain should be sick. Going to be close, I think.

I'm glad to compete in my first international SC2 tournament. Since it's a foreign tournament, I hope to gain the support and interest of many foreign fans. I'll try to play good games.

Thank you very much.

Lol little does he know he's probably got the biggest foreign fanbase of all :D

Great games overall, reallly looking forward to Boxer vs Sen!

Fruitdealer is still my favorite zerg, but Thorzain deserved the win for sure with his super solid play. I think that if FD had chosen to go macro instead of aggressive he would have won, his zerg macro/turtling is the best of anyone I've ever seen while his aggressive decisions are more lackluster.

Great games Thorzain, I'm really looking forward to seeing you vs. Tyler. Sen vs Boxer, holy shit! so happy to have my bracket busted there, although I did vote for the Emperor in my liquibet.

Could Tyler be any more of a boss?

LOL, I thought the exact same thing. I guess staring into the soul of a horse has its advantages.

Great write-up, the fan reaction was quite entertaining. I also like how BoxeR is unaware that he has a HUGE fanbase.

TSL 2. Nony vs IdrA
Nony ( tyler) uses a probe to harass Idra's scv who were building a command centre. IdrA then accidentally cancelled it. He gg-ed and left.

A few translated Korean netizen reactions from PlayXP

"BoxeR's GF reports 2 second lag delay- BoxeR's missed EMPS weren't his fault"

"Really nervous about the lag delays"

"BoxeR's opponent is not even a Code-A calibre player"

"As an eSports leading country I somewhat feel ashamed that FD was taken out 2:0"

"WELL... we still have NesTea"

"Wow I just watched the games... connection is so horrible. BoxeR DCing -_- well, it is a "minor league" + Show Spoiler +
this comment frustrated me, seemed to be serious and not sarcastic with his "minor league" comment.

"I was wondering why boxer didn't control his marauders in game 2... I guess that was because cause of the lag..."

"BoxeR... you really need to step it up"

A little back and forth of 2 Knetizens:
+ Show Spoiler +
"If there was a delay of 2 sec, its impossible to play the game. if i were to feel 2 sec delay while playing, its absurd. that means the game reacts after a sec or two following the mouse/keyboard input. I did watch fd's games and i saw some effects of lags in his games too (maybe they were just mistakes). If it was a bit of like sc1 w/e but 2 sec is ridiculous"

"There's a good chance that people are lying about 2 sec delay, and every player has to deal with that lag. So i don't think it is appropriate to talk about who gets benefits/disadvantages from the lag. I personally believe if you are a pro you should be ready and able to deal with such problems."

"If you are a pro, you want to perform at a perfect condition. Even Tiger Woods, i think he was quoted saying he does not play unless he is in perfect shape. it's not a pros responsibility to perform at a top level in any situation. A true pro is whom is able to perform at his/her full potential given ideal conditions. i don't think many of you guys have played on foreign servers, but there is instantaneous lag rather than lag that is continuous throughout the whole game."

Seems to be many Koreans are focusing on the lag problems, specifically in BoxeR's set. I don't know if they are aware of the TL ruling on G1 or why it was made; I'll keep digging.

Here is the coped GOMTV Knetizen forum responses, as translated by Brobear here

Let me translate the GOMTV netizen comments for you guys. (Since the google translate button doesn't seem to work too well)
Most of the comments are negative in regards to the overall skill level of players in the foreign scene. Korean netizens are brutal...

-"ThorZaIN, who knocked out Fruitdealer, plays very well..."

-"Was that really Fruitdealer? Why is he so bad???"

-"Can't do much about it... They're playing in 2-second delay after EMP conditions..."

-"Fruitdealer's condition is terrible... I wanted Korean dominance..."

-"The Nightend and Boxer game is SO boring. Seems like a game played in Korea 6 months ago. I'm yawning while watching this after having seen MC's dynamic playing. Battles after maxing armies... This was the reason they reviewed sc2 to be boring before."

-"NightEnd protoss can't even go into the preliminaries in our country, right? Lol this is hilarious."

-"It's been a while since I've seen a protoss using colossi... It's still far away for the foreign scene to catch up to our level of play."

-"Boxer's skill level... So bad."

-"I feel for boxer's current state in the game... Don't know about the Terran's side of play, but there were a lot of points when boxer could've poked and done some damage, yet he couldn't. T_T boxer fighting."

-"Can't make strong definitive attacks... Can't even hit code A round 16 wit this type of playing level..."

-"Not just being a boxer anti-fan, but if you seriously consider boxer's skill level, doesn't seem like he can even hit code A round of 8's."

-"Are these really matches played by progamers? Did I watch it wrong?"

-"The EMP missed by boxer, the early marauder control in game 2, etc., are apparently all due to the quake in Japan and the lag caused due to it.

And a few comments regarding the bad commentator (I guess for the Korean commentator who dubbed it, since Chill and Day9 are freakin awesome).

I'll update it more tomorrow, if you guys would like!

SOOOOOooooOOOOooooOOOOoo Many BANELINGS!!

I have a lot of comments and thoughts about this opening round and this post includes spoilers.

Things I feel can improve:
I think it should be visible on the front page when vods are available just like with teamspeak. I didn't want to surf around to much looking for them because I was really scared of spoilers=P I eventually asked Lovedrop in a pm if he knew when the vods would be ready and he pointed me to the vod thread. Great response from from him and probably an error on my side not knowing about that thread but overall I think a [VODS] tag on the first page couldn't hurt

Chill was slightly behind in the commentary sometimes, not sure if this also applies to Day but Chill definitely. I'm pretty sure this is a known issue and probably sick hard to fix... It was not that disturbing either but worth to mention imo.

All my other thoughts:
Amazing production. I had to be social last night but I sometimes checked up on the stream to see how many viewers and I was glad to see 35k or so... Sick good commentary and great delivery timing on this recap post as well. Really well made interviews.

Tyler played really impressive I love his style. So educational for me seeing him consistently get his expands later yet not getting behind.

Thorzain winning was really cool, wish he would've have said gl along with his hf in game one though. i was also fairly disappointed in fruitdealers inability to match thorzain.

Really amazing work dealing with that disconnect and I agree with the decision to award boxer the win. Really curious about why the players vetoed the ones they vetoed? Does boxer even know about cloud etc

By looking at the comments of korean netizen, I feel like they are a bit arrogant. "Minor league" comments. Blaming the connection problems on TSL (wtf?).

Treating our players like trash, blaming the 2:0 loss all on FruitDealer as if ThorZain did not even play.

Yes BoxeR vs NightEnd wasn't the best thing you have ever seen but I don't think it deserves this + Show Spoiler +

Really? We are using different stuff means we are terrible?

-"Are these really matches played by progamers? Did I watch it wrong?"

Its maybe just a feeling, but I think im pretty right. Those comments are so arrogant it makes me sad.

Hope Jinro, HuK or HayprO wins GSL soon.

let them koreans express their hate online, they do it to their own players just as well. offline they have to keep it polite especially in korea, so i'm not surprised they are hating this much online as they're just humans as well :o

TSL3 is already a sucess in my book. Really, really god job with this coverage, if you keep it up and the players give us more games like this, TSL3 will be the best tournament so far in SC2 history. Huge cred!
If you can chill.. Chill!
