The only two things that slightly annoy me about the thing is that a week seems somewhat excessive, and that I get the idea that some people are characterizing it (not as explicitly I'm exaggerating a bit) as some sort of diabolical Machiavellian martyr-complex power play rather than a simple "I got angry and overreacted."

That's exactly what it is. You can tell because she didn't just cancel the project, but she posted this: Canceled - go ask Rekrul if you'd like an explanation. Apparently Flash wouldn't care.

Me too. Though I don't really remember much of him as a mod, just that he was one. But he was probably demoted because he sucks at StarCraft. It was him that failed at jumping lurkers in a show match with another community site a few years back, wasn't it?

Way to oversimplify and generalize.
While I agree that every ban and locked thread doesn't make perfect sense it doesn't have to. There's a reason the internet gravitates to places like TeamLiquid. It's a well run forum with great moderators keeping the kiddies and trolls in check, nevermind factoring in the tournaments, pro coverage, articles, calendar, VODs and plethora of quality journalism on this site.

Chill, I love your commentating, but I really don't like some of the threads you lock. The recent "Strongest/Weakest race" poll is a good example, I don't see what was wrong with it. It was just fun, and it had a good number of posts.
I just get frustrated when you lock threads that I enjoy posting in, and post a one liner at the end of it like, "Why isn't this locked?" It isn't needed!
Not to mention my first few posts on team liquid that I was trying to have a fun discussion, or brainstorm a new unit idea or whatnot. It was locked, and then the Mods would sit there in the thread after it was locked and flame me.
Would you not be frustrated? Would you not care about what you posted anymore after that? Because honestly, If I put time into something for it to be GOOD, and it gets locked, that is just frustrating. Then I see people posting stupid things all the time that deserves IMO a ban/lock, and it doesn't happen. That is why I believe now I post more negative things than try to add to the discussion.

The explanation is simple in this case: If a thread is going to provide information or generate discussion, it will stay open. If the purpose is "List _______", then the end result is that we have 20 pages of people posting their comment and no one giving a shit about what anyone else has written. That isn't good for this community.
Now knowing that, you can go back and notice consistency in what I've said. Threads like "What's your favourite unit?" or threads with a simple question and a poll have all been closed for this reason.
You can disagree with it but you certainly cannot say it doesn't make sense.
Edit: And your reaction is irrational and frankly dumb. You put effort into something that got locked so you're going to make it worse for everyone else? To what end? What's the point?
