"lolz" Seems to mean "for the gleeful and childish denigration of functionally defenseless people" to me. the thread is mainly for making fun of really bad/perma banned posters and laughing at the posts. I generally try to avoid making fun of anything that is controversial at all because of issues of people getting confused/offended and how it can derail this thread. the ban reason for this one just stuck out to me. I wouldn't call making fun of trolling/excessive low content posts necessarily abuse They've been told the rules and actively decided not to follow them. Generally mods give people plenty of chances before they get in trouble. I certainly don't hold moderation history against people or anything. I'm sure there's a percentage of them that like the attention regardless.

but yeah if anyone ever has a problem with me seemingly making fun of one of their posts or something just dm me and I'll stop/apologize. The moment it gets/turns out to be controversial I usually move on anyway. I usually avoid political stuff normally and I guess in this case I didn't check it specifically because reading the political threads makes me depressed. Also as stated earlier we do occasionally mourn people who decide to leave/decide they don't want to follow the rules anymore.

also I was just quoting/explaining the mod note at the top of the thread and hows its been implemented in the past earlier.

I don't know the mod rules exactly but I have no problem with someone posting a defense of themselves and us all just moving on but that usually leads to more arguments and derails and etc. See last two pages. I dunno that's just my random thoughts on the whole thing.

In all honesty, this thread was created back in 2009, so the purpose of this thread is really outdated. Back when TL was booming and had a TON of people getting banned left and right, it created a lot of really funny content for people to discuss about, and the atmosphere was really good. It was pretty much the online equivalent of sitting down with your bros, popping open a beer, and talking about all the funny stuff that went down with those bans.

Now that TL has significantly downsized in terms of community activity, and because it's now 11 years later, this thread might serve a much better purpose if we turn it into an actual official thread in which bans can both be discussed and challenged.

Surprised it took Isto as long as it did to get banned.

Apart from the brood war strategy post that got him banned (https://tl.net/forum/bw-strategy/563904-brood-war-strategy-central), he also had some strange fan clubs (https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/563856-annie-fan-club), and some really long rambling posts (https://tl.net/forum/sc2-maps/563572-2-overgrown#8, https://tl.net/forum/sc2-strategy/563645-alternative-practice-methods).

It's too bad that he expresses himself like this--clearly he cares a lot about Starcraft at least.
