I liked to read bookwyrm's posts. I always wondered if his ideas were as big as his words, but never really could conclude. I know he likes to read serious books.

That's what you get for eating Ptarmigans (and whales, probably). Bad karma.

nunez was just banned by MoonBear.
That account was created on 2011-02-28 13:01:14 and had 3929 posts.
Reason: You made it about 30 posts before deciding to derail another thread in General Discussion. Generally, when someone comes back from Disneyland we hope they learn something from the Magical Kingdom. It seems like you learned the wrong lessons. Abschied. yeah, they learn to vaccinate their fucking kids. but i dont know what that has to do with nunez. =D

Ugh, that was just unnecessary.

Seriously, bookwyrm left, now nunez is banned for no reasons ? Mods we love you but please chill out, nunez posts were not offensive at all, and pretty intelligents... Nunez, bookwyrm, you'll be missed.
I dont know how he has the patience to continue to explain things to you idiots but the man is a hero. If I were a better person I would be more like him, but im not, im just me. Just become a lazy teacher like me book (if you somehow read me). You'll have time to do things, but not enough motivation to actually do things that matter, and will end up roaming old gaming forums.

I think Nunez got a warning to not post Ukraine related stuff any more after his last timeout.

TL trying to make it a conformist paradise.

I was wondering why he got the boot for that post. It didn't seem very offensive on the surface.

He exuded arrogance and was completely incapable of seeing past his ideology.
At least in the threads I follow, the typical TL poster is well informed and well intentioned. So it's incredibly jarring when this tool comes into a thread, repeatedly tries to derail the thread by loudly proclaiming his beliefs and acts like he's doing us all a favor bestowing nuggets of wisdom on us poor peasants.

One could definitely say that about others in the European politico-economic thread (not suggesting you), and likely other political threads...well, probably anywhere, I suppose ...so I hardly think this is a particularly appropriate criticism (I also disagree with your judgement of him though).
I would say what you seem to see as arrogance was frustration at seeing a lot of the same old mainstream media "analysis" in the thread repeated time and time again by various people, some of whom come into the thread seemingly having read none of the previous discussion, only to add old news to be argued again and again ad nauseum. It gets tedious (and I've barely actually posted rather than just read).

You think he was incapable of seeing past his ideology but you are the one so blinded by ideology you don't even realize you are steeped in it.

You think he was incapable of seeing past his ideology but you are the one so blinded by ideology you don't even realize you are steeped in it. I'm one of the few people in those threads who don't even bring up ideology. You won't find any discussions of the normative from me - in terms of politics or economics.
I'm purely interested in the practical consequences of the Greek crisis.
Edit: I remember you. You tried to help him derail the thread because you didn't like the way I called him out. Frankly it was on everyone's mind I'm just one to say it. Again, if you notice when you first responded to me, you'll see that I only discussed the crisis in the context of practical consequences independent of ideology (I don't even possess any strong beliefs in either politics or economics.) I'll go so far as to say that I don't even mind if people bring up their strong briefs in that thread as long as it's truly relevant to the topic at hand - that was not the case with this guy. He used the Greek crisis purely as a vehicle to advertise his ideology.

I agree on some points and it's fine for guys to have different opinions it's a matter of staying on topic and the intention / tonality of the discussion. I do think that the general level of discussion in that thread has been good. It's a little bit unavoidable that some discussion topics are repeated but that's not a huge problem especially as new developments on the situation come to light. I mainly try to talk about these new developments and learn from the better informed posters in that thread.

Though posting about the Country-that-must-not-be-named was a tad silly by him. Interesting how posting links about a European country counts as derailing a thread about European politics but meh.

And it got closed even before Slavyansk happened, lol at what mods would have thought about that thread during the later half of 2014 and early 2015.
