Isn't it a double standard him getting so defensive about an obvious joke about him and then complaining about other people not being able to handle a joke that's equally or even more demeaning? I just don't see how he is being the mature one, specially when the people complaining about his joke may not be the same ones that made the joke about him, while he is the same person on both cases. At best he is as bad as the community in this regard.

He didn't make an illustrated blog about how opterown is terrible, nor did he make an illustrated blog about how Prime or any particular Prime player is terrible, he just made a snide remark in passing about Prime's recent misfortune. It's not like he took a shit on Prime, he was probably happy that the team he sponsors won convincingly, so he indulged in a little bit of banter. The two situations aren't even in the same league, although I will agree that it could be seen as a bit hypocritical.

- When you get ticked off by someone making a joke at your expense, that's fine. That is your person they are assaulting, and you have a right to defend your person, even if the other person insists it's a joke or that it doesn't mean anything at all.
- However, if you then turn around and make a joke at someone else's expense, but then tell those who are hurt by that joke to shut up and live with it, that is the double-standard.
If you're going to claim your right to get upset (which you should, if you're legitimately hurt), then you shouldn't deny someone else the right to get upset when you subject them to the same thoughtlessness with which someone else has recently treated you.
It doesn't matter if one "joke" done is through a long blog and the other is done through a snide comment. You seem to want to claim that some people have more of a right to be offended than others based on content, which I am not sure is true. The people who are hurt are the ones who determine the intensity of that hurt, not the bystanders and not the one who hurt them.

The community are a bunch of hypocrites because they defend Azera and his shitty blog, but they also defend opterown instead of holding him to the same standard and judging him for not being able to take a joke.
And TB is also a bit of a hypocrite when he calls opterown out on not being able to take a joke.
Can we agree on these two points and leave it at that?

Yeah, it is upsetting. Especially considering it's opterown, he does a lot for us on TL and it's also nice to see him posting around here like a good friend you know.

- Yes, TB has a right to feel offended by Azera's blog. Do I think he overreacted? Yes. But that doesn't mean I think he doesn't have a right to be offended.
- Yes, optertown has a right to feel offended by TB's comment. Do I think he overreacted? Yes. But that doesn't mean I think he doesn't have a right to be offended.
- I am much less sympathetic to TB, because he claimed his right to feel offended, defended himself, then turned around and thoughtlessly did basically the same thing as Azera, even if only in a short comment, and then acted even more rudely than Azera (who apologized) by invoking the exact same clause that "it was just a joke, get over yourself," without taking into account that that joke probably had more of an effect on optertown than he intended.
Just because one joke was made in the form of a long thoughtless blog and one joke was made in the form of a short thoughtless comment doesn't make one offense "worse" than the other, especially when the jokes are directed at different people. Different people react to different situations in different ways.

Look, I'm not trying to acquit TB here, because I don't think he was completely in the right. I think everyone involved in this is guilty to some extent. But I can't just ignore the blatant hypocrisy and double standards rampant in a community that prides itself to be one of the best in gaming. I don't think you understand what a hypocrite is. A hypocrite is someone who indulges in hypocrisy, the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform. What TB did on Azera's blog was not take a simple joke. Azera wrote a little blog about him beating a community figure, which is something frequently bragged about, like meeting day9 or Husky on ladder, and Azera was lighthearted and joking about it. Azera's blog was also not shitty, I'm sorry you felt that way about it, a majority of us did not. Opterown and TB on the other hand was TB making jokes at opterown's expense after complaining about Azera, which makes TB the hypocrite. The community isn't hypocritical here however, because where Azera was making a joke about a game he played with TB and not about TB himself, TB went straight for Opterown, which is unacceptable behavior by any adult. The community defended Opterown because what TB did was unacceptable where as what Azera did is completely different. We also must realize that Azera is a kid, he's a highschooler and TB is a grown-ass man, and he should fucking act like it.

Did you guys actually read the exchange in the Prime v Ax thread? It was very innocent. TB's comment was not even about Ax beating Prime, it was about Prime not having enough players left to play a Bo9. Opterown, who I think we all like for just being a major contributor and a nice poster overall, is very sensitive about Prime. He takes their losses badly, so he didn't take the comment well. In my opinion, his response to TB was a bit strange, or unlike him. So probably a miscommunication due to the loss.
So how about we leave that particular requested ban to rest. If we discuss every time TB gets into an argument on TL, we might as well rename this thread after him.

At this point, after actually seeing the point where Wom^3 posted that because I'm attempting to build my own computer, I'm not surprised that this happened. His posts were enormous, too lengthy for most people to read and get anything meaningful out of with the amount of side-tracks he goes on. The worst part though would be that he would invite people to fight with them and then never give in, ever, even if he was wrong and proved so. He was just like the tank from Fana's blog post on trolls lol.
