Computer Build Resource Thread exists to help people build their system, often for the very first time, as painlessly as possible. Overcomplicating this is not making the process as painless as possible.
Buying from eBay is not remotely painless if something goes wrong. You can say "oh only buy from reputable sellers" but even reputable sellers can be awful people, just look at people who have bought those cheap Korean 2560x1440 displays off sellers like green-sum.
I don't doubt there is a lot of safety buying from Amazon Warehouse but that Amazon and not NCIX or Newegg or another huge discount vendor. If we're going on total price per item, I doubt buying second hand is going to be significantly cheaper because you're going to be paying shipping on tons of different items from tons of different websites and you're likely going to get the items separately.
The advantage of just going to Newegg and buying everything off their website is that you pay shipping once, you will get everything at once, and you can be certain every part of your computer works together.
It is the exact same reason why people buy expensive equipment from fairly expensive dedicated retailers like B&H and Richer Sounds. Second hand equipment and grey imports may be cheaper but if something is wrong, it is painless and quick to deal with the problem. The Computer Build Resource Thread exists to help who don't really know or like computer hardware to enjoy their desktop build experience.
Additionally, I have no idea why you're spouting enthusiast rubbish to a user who is asking what parts he should buy for his computer. Really, Avexir 2400mhz RAM? Intel processors don't even officially support these RAM speeds so how on earth is it relevant? It is not a smart purchase for him, or anyone, despite what you may claim. Its useless outside of people who love their PCMark scores so why even suggest it to a user getting a low end motherboard?
Furthermore, rebates are not the actual price of the item. It is not a discount. You have to submit it to the manufacturer and hope that they don't lose it or ignore it. It is not an instant transaction, some companies take like a month to do it. And while we're at it, for someone so thrifty, why do you always round 99 cents down rather than up?
There are other reasons for your ban but this is in response to the report I got. With three pages of mod notes, I think its time for you to think hard whether or not Teamliquid is the right place for you.
Perhaps Overclock.net might be more receptive to your advise where they are more tolerant towards computer enthusiasts. I am not suggesting that it is a bad thing to be a computer enthusiast but there is a line where one has to be self aware that their hobby is part of the reason why computer building appears to be rocket science to most people.

I unbanned him because I'm pretty forgiving and he's not a complete idiot. We had a deal and he broke it. He should have been rebanned far sooner so I gave him a warning:

I don't even care if you get into pissing matches so long as there's some sensibility in it. But I have a problem with your need to post word spaghettis no matter how small the problem or question is. The amount of shit you post just encourages people to pick apart your posts because of your attitude and the amount of random trivia you put in your posts. Its also intimidating because:
- (1) some people are going to listen to you no matter how insane some of the things you might post because you're filling your posts with nice buzzwords.
- (2) people know responding to your posts is only going to have you type another 1,000 word essay so its hardly worth the effort trying to respond to you.
- (3) some people might not even try reading your posts because they're way too long. The guy asked how much he could overclock with a half decent heatsink and you responded to his question and build with a one thousand one hundred and twenty eight word reply.
Less than 4 days after his warning, he chooses to type entire essays all over the place and even shits in some guy's thread. I have no problems for detailed and lengthy posts but 75% of his posts are around the length of an undergraduate art essay. Not only that, his attitude just encourages people to pick fights with him.

I agree, this really was a dick move by TB, not only is he being a dick and acting like he's superior to Opterrown, he's also just showing bad sportsmanship, he's the head of a team that just all-killed another one, he shouldn't just go around gloating by making bad jokes about this.
