I feel bad for FuDDx having his thread closed. I understand that recruiting TL for a voting army is not allowed, but I thought he'd get a star (pun intended) treatment. He might have had a better chance if he put slightly more effort into the thread. I think he planned to do that, but then it got closed.

TL policy, from what I know, doesn't let anyone break the rules. If the offender is a quality contributor/poster/important SC icon (think IdrA, Day[9], NeverGG, FuDDx), rules can be bent and punishments can be more lenient or nonexistent, but we're all expected to follow the guidelines of the site, regardless of your status. That's part of why I like TL's moderation policy; some websites let their senior members get away with crazy shit without repercussions. We don't do that here. No double standards for posting are permitted without damn good reasons. No matter your importance to the site, you still gotta follow the rules.
FuDDx's topic was closed precisely because of that. You'll notice the mod closing the topic posted in a very friendly, almost apologetic tone. As a starred member, FuDDx has a lot of respect, but respect doesn't permit rulebreaking; otherwise, we might accidentally set a standard that breaking the rules is permissible. As a starred member, FuDDx has a sort of responsibility to represent what a good poster should be on TL. I wish him luck with his balloons, but we have the Sponsored Threads category for a reason.

I guess the inherent difference is that it's breaking a rule rather than just gently bending it. Oh well, I still feel bad for FuDDx.
