General forum, why so bad?
For me, the worst thing is that these threads usually attract people with the most extreme opinions. The extremists usually derail the thread into a tangent about their conspiracy theories, their wild analogies and their generally insane beliefs. For example, people like zaqwe, sunprince and vividred, among others, already took the thread in wild tangents. And I haven't read much past page 20.

The issues are not that unrelated actually. The conclusion that I've come to is that when it comes to controversial topics, generally the more extreme an opinion is, the more ignorant the person is. It's by no means a matter of fact, merely an empirical observation, but cliche as it may sound, the truth generally lies somewhere in the middle when it comes to matters involving humans. It's not all black and white and generally both extremes have some fair points as well as some ludicrous, outlandish claims. It wouldn't be that bad if people were actually willing to sit down, shut up and actually listen to one another and not misinterpret articles/studies/statistics but hey that's people for you... -_-

Maybe you guys should add to the ten commandments that posts about gun control can only be made in a single thread devoted to it. Without that it seems a little baseless to warn out of the blue for it.

Ehh this isn't how they usually use "This is our house." It does seem a bit funky to issue warnings when there's no way to know its not allowed, there's no mod note on that thread. But this isnt the place for that discussion.
StrawDog5, if you care enough you can go to Website Feedback and make a thread about it.

This means we run the site the way we see fit. and there is no problem with issuing warnings to people who post in the wrong thread. thats what warnings are for. its not the end of the world to get a warning. it affects nothing about your use of the website.

Just think of it as the elastic cause of the Constitution.

Every time someone gets permed or even banned it's based on a "you have X moderation actions" justification. So I would hardly say it affects nothing.
And you can't really call it the "wrong thread." The thread is about a manifesto and a guy who is shooting people. He talks about gun control in said manifesto, and is using said guns to kill people.

getting warned is making a misstake, if you start repeatedly getting banned your doing it wrong. Also mods can see what the warning was for. posting in the wrong thread isn't seen as a huge deal I would belive

why are there always so many awful posts yet whenever i browse forums i can never find any to report? its not fair TT
i do think a general note about not talking about gun control would be good though, instead of having to post it on every single thread every time anything related pops up.

So it's StarStruck's fault that some people are stupid? This is a sad day, he was easily one of the more informed and intelligent posters on this site.

Or if MC wins with some sick timings/all-ins, that will probably beget a lot of whine as well. ^^

I recommend posting in website feedback that Kwark needs to go. He is demonstrating irascible demeanor, which compounds on the existing auxiliary evidence from other cases of malfeasance.

The ban is obviously fine. The post was super condescending.

User was temp banned for this post. This ban is his 20th mod note, which explains the length.

NITRIXdaisuki was just banned by Plexa.
That account was created on 2010-12-09 01:48:38 and had 57 posts.
Reason: Hacker. Zero tolerance for scum.
I was wondering when it was going to happen. There goes Daisuki.

It's sad to see an e-sports sponsor leave because of one bad person.
