True, personally I can't stand gore threads but shit like that is relatively rare on 4chan. There are a lot of hilarious threads the likes of which you cannot find anywhere else on the internet.

Its ran by a guy who goes by the handle Moot. He's like a lesser version of Mark whats his face who made FaceBook. The group you're referring to is called Anonymous but they're not an organization in the strictest sense of the word. There is no official form of membership and no leader. Anyone can be part of Anonymous simply by virtue of co-operation with others towards achieving a common goal.
As for child porn and beastiality. Well I've been going there for years and have yet to personally come across them. However, I have heard that such things do show up there from time to time. It really is a unique place on the internet. I've never seen a more interesting site to be quite honest.

Yeah but the fact that a lot of people don't know any better than to demonize 4chan as if they're some actual terrorists or as if they don't moderate against CP, combined with the retarded portrayal of Anon in the media makes 4chan the in place, the cool place, the edgy rebel place, in the minds of these children. So I'd say it's worse than the internet in general, or other similar websites.
