Pretty sure ApocAlypse was only trying to poke fun at how ridiculous rumors can be in that they're not necessarily remotely accurate... then again you never know with this kind of thing.

Regarding the TB ban, whatever happened with it (didn't see the post that caused it or the context) his first route should have been to discuss the issue with the moderation staff. He was subsequently unbanned so he must have done that and the system worked. Bitching about tl from his platform before using the systems we have in place to fix mistakes is kinda unnecessary in my opinion. We were wrong to ban him apparently but we fixed it. By the same token he was wrong to turn it into a bigger issue than it needed to be and mischaracterise our process, he should clarify that it was fixed without any real drama or hassle.

Yup, I think Poe's Law applies here. Even if he was poking fun at ridiculous rumours then there are better ways to do it, alternatively not poke fun at them and simply point out that they are ridiculous (I'm not sure what kind of rumours we are talking about, I'm staying out of that thread, what happened was tragic but there's nothing more for me to say on it).

The moderation on TL seems very reasonable. One of the reasons I decided to post here (after lurking for a while) One way he/she gets a rightful ban, the other he/she gets a lesson in how posting can be misinterpreted. Maybe in future if he/she makes a satirical post he/she will sign-post it, knowing it is impossible to be sure it was satirical.
Edit: I feel sorry for you Kwark, having to moderate that thread.

Ye the report stats got to me too! I reported this post last night but the guy made two bad posts in a row and he got banned on the other post instead! Used to be that wouldn't bother me but now the stats! D:
