I've definitely experienced the same thing. Specifically, google ad words advertisements in a thread talking about google ad words. I've never seen those advertised anywhere else.

I just tested (I'm sooo clever ).. I clicked the KMD thread (I've clicked it maybe twice before) and I got a shoe ad and a danish borger.dk ad (Citizen.dk some public something).
So there... I just proved nothing! =)

i debated whether to report this post, but then i saw the whore ban.

Al Bundy was just temp banned for 2 days by KadaverBB. That account was created on 2010-04-22 11:49:11 and had 6652 posts. Reason: Calling someone a whore is probably not a good idea. Show nested quote +he day9 interview was great, thanks for sharing
Man that Lauren Elise bitch is such a whore... Also what exactly is she doing in teh esports scene, besides tarnishing its image? I mean, there's more money to make in pornography than in eSports.
edit: post was warned. mods are fast.

I just stumbled in this thread and see you talking about ads. I have a nice pic related to them
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/DsW2f.png) They are scary sometimes

Lol, heck man, that reminded me: I got one too.

Plus, back before the elections, I was in the Congressional Election thread and I constantly got peppered with anti-Akin/-GOP ads. Seems it's geographically specific as well.

This food blog just got dissed by an ad.

Sick burn.

Yeah, the ads are affected by the topic of the threads and the content of the posts in the thread (mostly the posts on that particular page). If you go to a political or glbt thread with ads for Christian Mingle or National Day of Prayer or something like it, you know that thread has turned into a ban trap. I've actually seen these.

My ad right now is for AirTran, go on vacation, get away from it all... just like coming here to the ABL to get away from it all (all being the rest of TL).
These ad algorithms are going to turn into Skynet and kill us all they're so good.

Little Rage Box was just temp banned for 2 days by KwarK.
That account was created on 2011-05-24 06:14:53 and had 80 posts.
Reason: If I shut down a religion argument in a topic saying to take it to PMs rather than making further posts in the topic and then you quote my "don't keep talking about this" post in your post where you talk about it you get a ban. It's not complicated. After only a few hours the thread claims it's first ban victim.

But the question is should equality trump religious freedom? or vice versa? The simple answer is that religions view being gay a sin, that is their view, which doesn't make it right or wrong, its what they believe. But people saying that they can't or shouldn't say that is suppressing their freedoms. While I don't think that gay marriage or gay relationships are morally right based upon my religious beliefs, I understand that the same freedoms that give me the right to think that also protect their rights to think and do what they want. People just need to get over themselves and realize that just because they think and believe something doesn't mean its right, and that they can impose what they want. That goes for both sides of the fight. And this is coming from the son of a pastor in the South. Roll Tide Roll User was temp banned for reading a mod post saying to stop arguing about a thing and deciding the thing to do is quote it to start arguing about it. The topic was otherwise doing so well too.

Don't you just hate it when you're f5'ing a topic, see a post you want to reply to, formulate a thoughtful response, post it, then realize it's been hit with the infamous red text?
That just happened to me. -.-'

I have the feeling that KwarK created the thread for the very purpose of the amusement of this honorable society. Or is it just a honey pot?
I think it is possible. In such case, everyone should go there and get banned. Seeing the huge success, it may become a tradition!

I don't think it's especially bantrappy, people just have to read the OP and the mod note and work out that it's about the specifics of the bill and the implications of the bill regarding the role of the state and the rights of private and religious institutions in a secular society. Whether or not you support the gay marriage only has a passing relevance, gays in the UK have been able to get civil partnerships for years and are pretty much universally referred to as married, while the rightness of any specific religious belief isn't relevant to the place of religion as a whole within society.
I'm hoping it actually achieves that rarest of things, a topic discussing religion as an aspect of human society, rather than devolving into an argument about God. But I'm going to sleep now and I expect one person to say something wrong and then another to feel they must quote it rather than report it and then when I wake up people will be counting angels on the head of a pin.

Dude, you should know that people just don't read op or mod notes. They read the title and then post. So any thread with the title containing the words gay, Obama, Idra, American, Scarlett or similar stuff is automatically a bantrap

Haha, "I'll drop my gun,... only after you drop yours."
@KwarK: G'night! Wish I could report them to you, but I've only been here ~5 months soooo no fancy-schmancy "Report" button for me yet. Like to think I'm contributing positively to the conversation though, considering my rather unpopular opinion on the matter. Thankfully there's something to argue besides "Is the legalization of same-sex marriage right or wrong?" There's more to discuss than merely that, and I'm thankful the dialogue can progress beyond that.
That's also probably why it's not as successful a bantrap as people are hoping for, lol.

lol, I'm not touching that thread with a ten foot pole. But I'll be browsing it for ABL material I suppose. It's claimed it's first perm victim.

Five posts. We hardly knew ye...
Is it just me, or does it seem like Romanians have a much higher perm rate?

I don't actually deal with reports, so many of them are for SC2 nonsense. I take a look every now and then but only if I've missed a dozen pages of a general forum topic and want to retroactively moderate it. Most of my moderation happens as I read general or in response to PMs about specific issues.
