Reason: You got a pass on the first comment because it's obviously a cult. That's not even debatable. Despite the cultist calling for your blood I ignored his protests and let your post stand. However you then decided to pursue the argument and try to defend yourself in the topic, even though you got no moderator action for the original comment. You have previous temp bans for starting off topic religion arguments, keep doing it and they'll just get longer.
Also you don't get any points for "But, I'm not going to have a theological debate in the election thread.". Don't say you're not going to do it, don't do it. I banned the guy for doing off topic insulting your religion and I'm getting flak for it? Maybe get thicker skin, it's not like you don't worship Jesus, that makes you cultists.

i am not mormon, or religious, btw.

Definition of cult: a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.

Sigh, I guess this is going to be another one for website feedback. If you object to my use of the word cult then make a topic there. I would however like it noted in the OP of the topic that my feelings on the matter did not stop me banning the guy for arguing against religion. You're arguing purely about the words I used and not some systematic bias in my moderation. Let that be the end of it in this topic.

nevertheless, i stated my peace and there is no point in objecting further since i doubt anything will be changed.

I thought it was abundantly clear that Boraz was not really a Mormon......

here are the posts for reference. boraz also got a warning for his post, which doesnt show in the embedded quote, and later got banned, but i havent searched for that.

Candidates will say anything to get into office. I can't recall a president ever making promises, and then keeping them to the point that I actually said "wow, he did what he said he would do. I'm impressed". If you held a gun to my head, I'd probably pick Obama. Not for any good reason, just because he seems nice enough and I'm incredibly biased against Romney for his religious beliefs. I could never vote for a mormon. That's like voting for a scientologist.
Inb4 it has no impact on how the country is run. It speaks to his state of mind. Mormonism is a pretty kooky cult. And it legitimately scares me that people don't think that's a problem. Can I ask this dude get a warning? Blatantly calling a religion a kooky cult is against TL rules I believe? Cause I once posted something about a religion, not being nice about it, and I got banned. I am Mormon as well, and this "man" has personally offended me. People here so many wrong things about Mormons. If you truly went to a website that wasn't written by an anti-mormon...our religion is just like any other Christian church. We believe in God and Jesus. In the end, that's all that matters. It's called freedom of religion, and Mormonish is actually a very big religion. That is very biased you won't vote for a president because of his religious beliefs. I personally thing Obama is a muslim...but if he was running our country the way it should be run, I wouldn't care. "The founder of the movement was Joseph Smith, Jr., who was raised in the Burned-over district of Upstate New York. He claimed that, in response to prayer, he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, as well as angels and other visions. This eventually led him to a restoration of Christian doctrine that, he said, was lost after the early Christian apostles were killed. In addition, several early leaders made marked doctrinal and leadership contributions to the movement, including Oliver Cowdery, Sidney Rigdon, and Brigham Young. Modern-day revelation from God continues to be a principal belief of the Mormon faith." "The people of western New York, like the rest of the United States at the time, were also influenced by folk religion. The fathers of both Joseph Smith, Jr. and Oliver Cowdery were reported to have used divining rods, though not by those within the LDS church. Joseph Smith reportedly used seer stones, which he used after his First Vision of Jesus Christ. People of the time used such rods and stones in various ways, including to locate underground water, to find lost items, to locate buried treasure or mineral mines, as part of religious or magic rituals, or to communicate with spirits or angels. Until about the 1830s, the use of such divining media, even as a profession, was thought by many, though not all, as "honorable and profitable employment". (Palmyra Herald, July 24, 1822)" That's all I'll say on the subject. If you know that, and you are still mormon..... you're as kooky as Romney. And to be fair, Islam is just as bad in my eyes. But, I'm not going to have a theological debate in the election thread. All I'm doing here is justifying "kooky" and "cult". User was temp banned for this post.

boraz's warning was specifically for calling Obama a Muslim in a topic with mod notes at the top telling people to fact check. It wasn't for his repeated calling for the ban of the guy I banned for arguing about religions. The only thing boraz is currently banned for is martyring because he felt the need to rage against the machine after I warned him for something unrelated to the argument and banned the guy he was arguing against.

Yes, Boraz tempted the fates and predictably loses.

I like to think of tournament LR and threads about super-current events (like the election) as a sort of natural selection. They draw out all sorts of people to the threads, and the dumb ones get banned out. TL will be a much healthier community after this cleansing.
