Why? Technically he is correct. They are both types of human behavior which differentiate from what is considered normal (from a biological perspective). The way he expressed himself though and the implications and insinuations made while doing so were the offense in casu here. After all, they cannot be compared in the absolute by any stretch of the imagination if you have any moral compass. Then again, this is from my modern western point of view. There are quite a few countries and cultures on our planet who vastly disagree with me and find that having sex with children under 12, let alone with individuals who haven't reached the age of 18 yet is infinately more preferable then having relations with someone of the same sex.
Luckily for me TL is a modern and Western cultured community and that is the standard by which we hold our users.

Maybe you should instead question the reasons for your own anger instead of focusing on their intolerance. That's all I'm gonna say because I don't want to derail this thread.
Regarding the ban, I don't know... Not everyone is born in a modern western culture, and banning people because they aren't seems a little odd, they can't help the opinions they hold. Also, to say the standard is a modern Western cultured community is a little misleading, since there are many people in modern Western culture who hold the same exact opinions. Not sure whether it does more to bring down the quality of discussion to let them speak, or whether it does them better good to hear people respond towards their opinions outside of a ban. Guess I just favor a more liberal freedom of speech than the ten commandments advocate.

from his post history (which is quite good) it looks like it's an Ukrainian fellow so there is no cultural divide which legitimate this, tho technically speaking he's true and it's an intelligent way to bring the debate about homosexuality on favorable ground if you're against it.

The primary issue I had with dvorakftw is that he argued for the sake of arguing. Even frivolous details, he would harp about. This would degrade the discussion and make it go in circles. And he was the most condescending poster in the thread.
There was one point that he posted a picture of Jay-Z's bar or club. He seemed to want to discuss Obama and his elitist friends. Really? Is that an election issue now?
I'm all for fun having fun in that thread but it was getting to the point that he was a constant distraction. He's like that kid in the back of the class that is annoying on purpose so he can get attention.

He had a lot of crappy throwaway posts, but he also had a lot of long-winded well argued posts that clearly took time and effort. I really don't know much about dvorak's history, I've only seen his posts the past couple weeks so I could be missing how bad he was. But I do think there is a tendency to combine the irritation from the quality of posting with the irritation from the opposing opinion itself into an exaggerated response. Of course, I'm biased in this regard because I think some bans detract more from the discussion than allowing controversial opinions to be expressed. Perhaps being in the minority on so many issues on this site has forced me to develop a greater tolerance or something, because I never feel the anger and frustration a lot of people exhibit towards some posters they disagree with.

In a way, it's kind of ironic that dvorakftw got banned from the US Election thread because of his fundamental inability to understand the online politics of TL and discussion threads.
For every substantive point he made, there were a myriad of unprovoked insults, put-downs, troll-links and general acts of douchery that wouldn't be tolerated in online or real life. After a certain point, you tune guys like that out.
I've been insulted by a lot of people, and in turn insulted others in that thread ... the difference was that it happened when I or someone else deserved it. dvorakftw was always in some kind of aggro mode. I don't think his ban will detract from the amount of controversy or diversity of opinions in that thread at all. There are still plenty of mature, intelligent posters in there for me to disagree with, all of whom I feel are superior to dvorakftw. dvorakftw isn't fit to carry their nutsacks.

'Considered normal from a biological perspective' seems to me to be contamination of science by certain parts of public opinion. Homosexuality and pedosexuality are both biologically as well as socially vested sexual orientations. They are less, and a lot less, frequent than heterosexuality, but claiming them to be 'not normal' is equally illogical as claiming red hair or green eye colour to be so as well.

I don't like how the internet is open to homosexuality but so closeminded to anything beyond like bestiality or pedophilia. It is SO closeminded that mentioning the two words in the same sentence gets you banned in most forums.
