A couple of months ago I posed a question why aren't large CDNs being used for SC2 streaming and I was told by everyone that it is too expensive, that esports is to small, that ... whatever, MLG showng that it can be done! I am really looking forward to this.

This may have been asked before, but will MLG be doing subscriptions, similar to those on Twitch, to individual streamers? Or will there be a plan for the whole of the website?

Yes the extended series is what primarily prompted it. There are quite a few others or I wouldn't have asked this. A list is needed I suppose.

everyone mad as hell, just for the love of god dont support it then! Do not even view the website!

i would like to see what this is and how it helps the gaming community as a whole but lets face it, im the most die hard to sc2 fans and even i recognize that the game is loosing a lot of interest now, 4 teams gone in a month . . . sc and sc2 may have just about had its day competitively

If sponsored streamers are part of your envisaged customer user base, how will sponsor issues be resolved?

How is MLG.tv going to be held responsible for individual misbehaviour? Twitch has a dedicated support team for stream or chat abuse, who are also helping with stream setups, DDOS etc : is MLG able to offer the same?

Is this part of a bigger drive towards expansion of the MLG brand into providing esports infrastructure, or is this just a small side-project without any real strategy or thought behind it? I would be interested to find out what your long-term forecast for the service is.

There are no sponsor issues, everything is in bounds.

Every streamer will have a personal producer that helps them with everything from set up, to advertising, to reporting, to technical issues.

This is the backbone of our business. We’ve been ebita positive for the last two quarters; We expect to stay ebita positive on a quarterly basis in 2014. We are going to be rolling out MUCH MORE to layer on top of the player in line with the 'infrastructure' you alluded to.

That's some good stuff, thanks for answering my questions Adam.

-Extended series- Agree to disagree. I see both sides of the argument but there are far worse (IMO) tournament rules and formats in place by other organizations that seem to go under the radar. We feel that if you are eliminated by someone in double elimination that the player advancing should have won more total games. All that being said, we have listened to feedback and have removed Extended series.

-Demon situation. Sorry but I have no regrets about that situation. I stand by our ruling and would do it again in a heart beat. We are not going to operate a professional tournament with unlimited, unregistered, oft times random subs. I'm sorry if that answer is direct, but it is what it is.

-I don't recall TLO, or anyone, being denied the ability to change races in a tournament. Maybe it was mid series, but even then I'm not sure what the exact rules state (would have to ask our tournament ops team)

-The MLG player of 2011 and 2012 was served via satellite/stream works in conjunction with Twitch/Owned. Not sure what you mean here.

-Not sure what you mean by the Arena hype comment

So many stories have become 'fact' within the community, mainly because we never said otherwise or shared our side of things. That is on us for not communicating enough and today we reap that harvest (as you can see in this thread). In any case I created this thread to discuss our player and I would appreciate staying on topic. Have a great holiday!

Hey Adam!

I really enjoyed your Dota 2 content over the last couple months and want to thank you for the hard work you put in and your availability to the community. You have been responding on the dota2 subreddit quite extensively and I want to thank you for it and say GJ!

Now down to the questions. So I've been hearing you talk a lot about Q1 and Q2 apps for Roku, XB1, XB360, etc and I want to know if you guys plan on releasing any app for the PS4 and if so when should we expect it? For some reason I feel like you guys are in cahoots with XB so is that why there are no apps for PS3/PS4?

Sc2 crowd never cease to amaze me

This is a good news, twitch needs competition as their service of late really awful.

Great news! Twitch is very laggy sometimes here in Ukraine (I believe in rest of Europe, too). So, the more streamer platforms the better!

Do you transcode everything sent to you like YouTube? 60fps available? I assume you still have to use Flash/RTMP like everyone else or do I dare to hope you've managed to do something else? Using HLS like Twitch/other services that add lots of delay?

I probably have more technical questions, but this is good to start

PS: <3 Adam and all your hard work. Hoping MLG can return to SC2 content in 2014.

Hey Adam!

I just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work you've put into reaching out to the community as I'm sure you have other things to do on top of this, so I really appreciate it.

As for a question - are there any plans for adding a feature like what Youtube Live has, where you can scroll back through the stream and buffer until live time? From my somewhat limited understanding this seems like an extremely extensive feature, though I always enjoyed it when I found myself on Azubu and/or Youtube Live.

I look forward to seeing what you and MLG have cooked up for 2014 - keep up the good work!
