Finally time for another DC LAN! I am still alive after all. 
When: January 11th, 2014 (11AM-10PM)
Where: Monster PC: 7031 Little River Turnpike #13b, Annandale, VA 22003
What: Starcraft 2 HoTS live tournament, costs $20 to enter.
Spectating is free. (Limited spectating at the LAN center though, no viewing areas other than watching players monitors)
Prizes:
SC2: TBD (Depends on number of tournament signups should be at least $200-$300)
Format/Rules:
Double Elimination Bracket (OR Pools depending on # of signups)

How to sign up:
Post in this thread with your *BNET AKA*
Notes:
Please join channel "DCLAN" on sc2 bnet when you arrive at the LAN center as we will use this channel for communication during the event since the LAN center is split into separate rooms.
Unfortunately the LAN center is a bit cramped so there isn't a whole lot of space for people who plan to just spectate the event. You can (and I recommend) bringing your own headset and mouse. Monitors and PC's are provided by the LAN center. There is a limited number of stations for laptops and/or desktops in the back corner of the LAN center if you want to bring your own desktop or laptop.
If you have any other questions before the event or during the event please let me know at any time, best way to contact me before the event is PM me here on TL.
If you are willing to volunteer for one of the below positions please let me know, I will need at least 3 people dedicated to helping with this, if you can bring a laptop in order to not take up a tournament PC for entering results and bracket management that would be ideal, please PM me for more details.

I'm moving to DC in a month and have been looking around.. there's no centralized facebook group or anything? The largest things I see is a meet-up.com group and a low pop/activity facebook group for v tech.

As much as it sucks maybe we actually have to like, idk, advertise and stuff. I know there was a group of 5 high school kids last time, and they were interested in coming again...but I have no idea if they read TL thoroughly lol. I'm -guessing- they read TL, but with DC LAN being so far apart and in 'community' (which I'm not sure many peeps check) I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of guys have no idea it's going on.
That said idk the other avenues. Flyer on Monster at least?

Blame TL, most people don't venture outside of subscribed threads anymore.
Also there's a korean bbq place practically next door, so even if you don't go because sc2 dead game, at least go for food.

Looks like I can get that Friday off, so hopefully I can make the drive down, depending on how the weather is! I haven't had the chance to play (or follow) SC for a couple of months but I'll definitely come down and help out if you guys need it!

If people want to or have the time to do flyers or post about it elsewhere or tell all their friends to come go for it. I'm down for whatever as long as people show up.
I guess TL really has been split into so many different subforums now, community by default is so far down now, sucks.

i can assure you im not playing in this but im going to consider coming to hang out, i hardly ever pop on tl these days its depressing but i just got frustrated with star 2 and stopped playing, i miss all my friends i have met along the way but have been super busy, but prehaps i can make an appearance or something but im not making any promises. sorry T.T

The majority of those high school kids aren't coming this saturday unfortunately they are doing something school related that day. I feel like this dc lan tournament isnt going to be as fun as the last one i dont think a lot of people arent going to show up for this one.

looks like its gonna be around $200 total at the moment (split something like 110/70/20) unless I get some last minute donations. I always throw in some extra, but since we'll only have like 10 players (if they all even show) it'll definitely be on the lower end since I have to take a cut of the pool to pay the lan center as well.
I would not come from afar expecting to profit greatly here lol. and yeah I agree Battlekill6, this is looking like our smallest lan since broodwar days. It would appear gone are the days where I can just throw a thread up in community section here expecting floods of signups. I think with the increase in forums on TL it's just harder to have as much visibility without doing extra stuff and actually promoting etc. I also have been pretty removed from the scene for the past year or so, so it's not like past lans where I was on bnet 24/7 yelling at my entire friends list to come lol.

There seems to be a very active community in the DC/VA/MD area. My fiancé and I will be moving to the area soon for school. She is going to University of Maryland and I will be going to Georgetown. Look forward to living in an area with more nerd ballers. Where I live, everyone plays cod *weeps for their souls*

I saw that thread too, looks cool. We don't start classes until August. I will actually be there for a week this Monday to ski and look around at places we might like to live. I have family in Vienna, so I am in the area three - four times a year as it is. GL to players as well!

Are the games going to start promptly at 11:00? Last time they didn't and people waited a bit to get warmed up with the desks and stuff. I was wondering because I'm cutting it kind of close between a major audition I have and the tournament and I'm pretty sure, but not positive that I'll be there before 11:00.

it will start later than 11, it will start more at like noon. there are always people late. if you know your going to be a little late just text me(pm for number) and I'll make sure you're in the bracket etc.

both players had played well over 10 hours that day, and not only for the lan. They had played in WCS qualifiers too. I can't blame them for not playing (they did get a "winners bracket set in though"

thanks for casting Nan and everyone who showed up, had a great time today def turned out to be one of the better LAN's imo. Illusion qualifying for wcs was epic too. why is anfield so proud to beat me today? kid thinks winning with dt drops and blink allins actually means something, cute. :D

avilo and illusion split 1st/2nd place and didn't play the finals due to time constraints (we had a dinner to go to and caster and others have a long drive back etc). I know it sucks for viewers and such but technically my agreement at the LAN center is from 11am-10pm, I can push a bit later if I need to and only keep the finalist PC's reserved, but the place gets crowded and I have pressure to be pretty much totally packed up by then. the amount I pay the LAN center per player is only for 5 hours of PC time so they're actually really generous for giving almost double that for most of the people who go far in the tournament.
We had a couple tough scheduling things today, which I'll keep in mind when planning the next LAN. some people showed up a bit late causing some issues and then I had people playing wcs/CSL matches in addition to the LAN which caused further delays. shoutout to Scion I think he ended up waiting the most and unfortunately ended up getting 4th, in the future I probably will be more strict about sticking to the schedule, it really shouldn't take 10 hours for a 17 person LAN. (even with avilo tvt's)

I didn't watch much of this year's runs, and so didn't really know any of the people, and I thought it'd be awkward to head over and say "oh man you guys are awesome!" then head back and eat food O.o

Next LAN I'm thinking about doing two brackets- a diamond and below tournament as well as a main tournament. Also you can play both for the price of one if you are diamond or below.
This will hopefully help increase player pool and give lower league players something to practice for and more fun for people of wider ranges of skill. Also it will increase the overall prize pool. Will post the details later when I confirm date/scheduling, looking at Saturday March 8th right now though, Nanman does the 8th work for you?

Thank you to everyone that came out to the event to play, watch, and help run another successful DC LAN! I always enjoying getting to hang out with everyone both at the LAN and at dinner. Also thanks for coming and helping co-cast with me EndofLine, Aidan, DocFletch, and Stimilant. For those who didn't co-cast I hope you will consider jumping in and co-casting at the next event. Also i'm glad a lot of you guys came by and at least said hi I do like to walk around when I get there and say hi but once the event starts I pretty much chain myself to that chair for 11 hours. So I hope everyone will consider introducing yourself if I haven't met you yet or just stopping by between matches and saying hi.

As for the next event I hope we can get another double event going having both Diamond and below and a regular tournament should hopefully help with turn out for the next one. Sadly March 8th I wont be able to do another DC LAN. I'll be in Richmond playing in a Magic the Gathering tournament. March 15th or 29th work out better for me since my birthday is on the 22nd
