DC LAN #12 will happen on June 1st! Finally ready to go for our first Heart of the Swarm event in DC!

What: Starcraft 2 live tournament, costs $20 to enter.
Spectating is free. (Limited spectating at the LAN center though, no viewing areas other than watching players monitors)

SC2: TBD (Depends on number of tournament signups)

How to sign up:
Post in this thread with your Bnet AKA
Notes:
Please join channel "DCLAN" on sc2 bnet when you arrive at the LAN center as we will use this channel for communication during the event since the LAN center is split into separate rooms.
Unfortunately the LAN center is a bit cramped so there isn't a whole lot of space for people who plan to just spectate the event. If you plan on bringing others or friends please let them know they cannot get on a PC unless they are playing in the event. I'm expecting a fair amount of signups for this event and we may end up filling up the LAN center. Priority will have to be given to those competing in the event. You can (and I recommend) bringing your own headset and mouse, monitors and PC's are provided by the LAN center. There is a limited number of stations for laptops and/or desktops in the back corner of the LAN center if you want to bring your own desktop or laptop.
If you have any other questions before the event or during the event please let me know at any time, best way to contact me before the event is PM me here on TL.
If you are willing to volunteer for one of the below positions please let me know, I will need at least 3 people dedicated to helping with this, if you can bring a laptop in order to not take up a tournament PC for entering results and bracket management that would be ideal, please PM me for more details.

1. what time should I get there in the morning if I want to get a pc for practice?
2. how much to get in besides the 20 bucks for the tournament?

BuiBui, you'll need $2/hour to play at the lan place. Other than that, nothing. I dunno when, but get there as early as you want. I don't think there are any really strict rules. This seems really laid back =]

the $20 covers your tournament entry and your pc time while in the tournament, i think when you get knocked out of the tourn you then can choose to pay money to keep the pc correct me if im wrong it seems to change at every place we have been at. Also you should probably bring money for food as well, depending on how long you stay when the tourn is over and everyone is done we all goto a the korean bbq resturaunt which costs about $20 as well mmmmmmkay

You hand Lucky the money and tell the guy at the counter what computer to play on and he bypasses the login that you usually need, and you're set to play for the tournament. If you get knocked out or want to do something else, yeah it's $2 an hour plus getting your own LAN card. $20 is literally the only thing you need to get in.
I'm not sure about what time to get there tbh. The computers are usually open in the morning, but if you get there too early I imagine you have to sign up for a LAN card and pay for additional hours.

yes just show up and if you don't see me tell the dude at the desk you're there for sc2 tournament. I usually try to stay near the front anyway.
The $20 is good for both LAN fee and prize pool. basically it's 5 hours of PC time or until you get knocked out of the tournament if your still in it by 4-5PM.
I'll be there at around 10AM so try not to show up too much earlier than that...the tournament will start around 11am although we almost always get started a little later than that due to people showing up late.

re: the finals and racepicking - I personally think racepicking should be allowed, though I think everyone can agree that the finals were a little disappointing even though we had the best players of the tournament. not sure what actions we should take as tournament admins yet, but I'm sure we'll talk about it in the time period between this LAN and the next.

I don't just get why he didn't play T vs illusions Z. I've seen him stream his Z before, I know it at least WAS gm level.

he played T vs illusions Z in the winners finals and lost 0-2 I believe.
I've always allowed race picking- sort of a strange finals tonight but it is what it is...illusion wasn't in the wrong for wanting to play as Z

Thanks Zee, also thanks to everyone who came out today, was another great event overall. going to try to shoot for the next one either on July 13 or July 20 if anyone has preferences on dates let me know I'm pretty flexible next month. Will try to promote the next one better and get more players and prize pool, this ended up being one of the lower prize pools I've ever had for sc2 which is never good !

Thanks for another great LAN guys! I had a great time being able to cast up so many epic games, everyone's skill level has improved since WOL and I can't wait to see how much more you guys improve by #13.
Also thanks to everyone that watched the stream we averaged around 50 viewers all day which I was pretty happy with since we were competing with WCS and a couple other events. I have no doubt next event we'll be back to our 100+ numbers
Also the 13th or 20th should work out great for me just let me know when we get a solid date figured out!
