I just got a call about my hoodie, I'll have to pay an extra $80 USD to the government. Fucking amazing, huh?

Well, I can't really pay for it so I'll just lose my $60 + $40 (shipping). Really sad right now.

Couldn't you contest the charge by saying the item can't be found in Brazil? I mean a 133% import tax is just ridiculous, I don't have to words to express how fucked up that is.

Arrived today in Canada. I missed it at the door, but the slip they left me said I have to pay 16.25$.

Sigh, one expensive hoodie I've got here.

I saw that the other day, I'm just not sure how to go about it. Do I walk in and say, I missed my package, give it to me. No, I'm not going to pay your fee. ? Chances are the person at the desk isn't going to know, he/she is just a person with a job doing what they're told to do

It's like if I went to Mcdonals and ordered a meal under 3 bucks and they charge GST on it. They're not supposed to, but if I tell them, it's pretty safe to assume the 16 year old teen doesn't know the GSt tax act, lol

The postoffice isn't someone I can appeal to, since it's not a fee from them, but rather the government.

And a question, actually, he added an edit saying
edit: If you can prove that the item was produced out of the US or Mexico you are free of duties as well due to nafta.

To clarify, saying "out of Us or Mexico", does he mean made from there, or made outside of?

Is that even considered a jersey? I still consider it a t-shirt. :/

Come on TL Design Staff team, let's get that fixed. D:

You have to pay it, there's no getting around that. Then, you can ask for a refund. The document used to ask for a refund is on the verso of the CBSA casual import form, also found here: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/dm-md/d6/d6-2-6-eng.pdf

If you scroll down you'll find Appendix B, which is both sides of the customs paper, which you'll get when you pick up your package. The first page will already be filled out, but have to complete the second page with all kinds of information and mail it (yay!) to some place in Canada.

This is my personal take on this so I may be dead wrong, but you have to have some kind of good argument explaining why you think the fee should be reimbursed. The problem is that about half the fee is regular sale taxes - it would be really surprising to me if you could be reimbursed for those. However, the other half is some "handling fee" - so maybe something can be done about that.

The base hoodie costs over $50 itself, so it's actually "reasonable". It is more than I would pay for it, especially after their shipping costs, which is why I didn't buy it. But it's not like they're exploiting our love and loyalty to Team Liquid for financial gain, though I'll fully admit to having thought and felt exactly that after every single order when seeing the final cost.

Hey has anyone experienced their hoodie shrinking after washing/drying it? I got a large and it fit really nicely but then after washing it, it feels like it shrunk because now it feels way tighter. Will these hoodies shrink in the dryer?

Generic taxes (gst/hst/pst) whichever they hit you with you are fucked on. You shouldn't be getting them depending on your province as most of those "costs" are typically covered in the original shipping fee you paid for the shipping (stamps and the like are usuallllllly universal) however duty fee's that are imposed at the border by customs or whatever terminology they use to tack on an extra fee are fightable via the form the post I am quoting talked about is a route you can take. The issue is that the duty fee can be small or large and customs will shove it on insane amounts of things (stuff that is and isn't applicable) because the process to be reimbursed should they be wrong takes enough time that most people wont do it.

My own personal take is basically, If i get duty on something wrongfully (has happened twice now) I just tell them to send it back and file a refund, wait a bit and reorder. For whatever reason the reorder is always free of the wrongful charges -_-.

Anyone who ordered more than the hoodie (one of the posters or whatnot) will almost guarenteed be hit with taxes for being over the size restriction of near all canadian postal standards for small packaging. If they condition of the box is one where customs can visibly see inside the box (was one poster who had a picture of his box near mangled and barely held together) you will most likely see a duty fee. There are multiple factors that can determine if you get one (bad packaging, random inspection at the border, etc....) It is up to you to determine if the fee is something you are fine with chalking up, fighting for after paying, or saying F it and return the product and determine if you are going to reorder.

Canada has horrible horrible issues with how customs work which sucks -_-

For my edit in the post you guys have talked about. Produced usually means made out of. However if the base parts are made elsewhere then reassembled in one of those countries you can usuallllly dodge duties as well. It depends on exactly what you are importing. If the online location you are ordering from says reseller anywhere on it you are almost always getting stuff that you can be nailed for on duty. Knowing exactly details on a product from the net is moderately annoying to attain given that it may only be saving you a few $'s.

I am not someone who represents TL however almost universally most clothes shrink slightly when washed.

The washing instructions in the hoodie say wash in cold water and to avoid use of a few types of things like bleach and I believe non chlorine detergent. I could be wrong on the second but it is labeled in the hoodie.

I am not sure if drying is a factor at all as some clothes will shrink there but I find that for preserving the quality of a hoodie it is always best to air dry to avoid shrinkage / fading.

I noticed mine shrank too... But that's because I didn't follow the instructions and tumble dried on high.

We're hurting esports.

All is not lost though, like any garment that shrinks in the dryer, you can always just soak the hoodie in warm water and stretch it back out. When clothes shrink, the fibers shorten as though they've been tangled. The warm water allows you to loosen the fabric and straighten out the fibers (in this case, the rayon that's part of the tri-blend in the fabric).

It's a little odd, but easy to do during a warm shower. Once you're done just roll it up in a towel to soak up most of the water and hang it out to dry.

Things that piss me off:

- Mediums are small as shit
- I had to pay an extra 30$ on top of the shipping that was supposed to be 14, but ended up being 20$
- To my knowledge there isn't a way I can send it back for a large.

Yup :/
