UPDATE: The Deadline for submissions has passed.Hello, readers of TeamLiquid.net.  We are now recruiting Artists and Graphic Designers!Sure, you love ESPORTS. You're the first to cry foul when someone is hurting it... but do you think you have what it takes to help ESPORTS? Or maybe that doesn't matter to you. Maybe you just want people to fear you. Can you handle that kind of power? Show us. Yes, we know our site looks a bit 2000's, but don't take that for a sign of poor taste. We consider great graphics to be an important part of our site, whether it means having epic banners in our news posts, sleek images on our front page, or cute icons for our distinguished users. For lack of a better way to put it, we enjoy how cool it makes the site look. With the ESPORTS scene growing by the day, we have found ourselves in need of more skilled artists to help us continue to creating high quality work. The following examples demonstrate some of the excellent work created by the TL graphics team: We are looking primarily for people who will help design and decorate our front page news posts. However, TeamLiquid's graphics staff also contributes to the site in a variety of other ways, and we are accommodating of any kind of talent. There's no fixed criteria we require from our artists. Don't be afraid of applying even if you haven't received any formal graphics education or possess an unorthodox skill-set. We're providing a list of of generally useful skills to have, but they are in no way required. All that matters is the ability to contribute to TeamLiquid in a creative capacity. - Photoshop

Making carriers
If you are interested in contributing, here's how you can apply. Send an email with the following content to teamliquidgraphics@gmail.com. - Brief introduction of yourself, your graphics background, and list of artistic skills.
- Portfolio of your work.
- An example of a piece you would do for TeamLiquid.net. This can be artwork for a news post (any league, past or present, real or fictional), a mock up version of any website feature (sidebar, forums, liquibet, etc), or something totally outside the box.
Once your application has been received, it will be evaluated by the present members of the TeamLiquid graphics team.
As with the vast majority of TeamLiquid staff positions, this is an unpaid volunteer position. No experience is required. Your sample work will speak for itself!

I have photoshop but I'm not too great with it (all I can really do are simple photo edits that fix colors). If I could find someone to point me in the right direction I'd work at it and then do work for TL.

I am in the final year of my visual communication program so I wouldn't have much time for this with internships and a thesis project.
I would say that if you are a graphic design student (or an aspiring GD student) and you have both the time and desire to give this your all, definitely go for it. The more things that you have in your portfolio that differentiate you from the people you are graduating with the better chance you have of getting a job when you graduate OR getting into a graphic design program.

At the moment the deadline is indefinite; we're gauging the cutoff date on the amount of applications we receive.
As for the nature of the time involved, it can range from putting out the graphics for a news post like this every week, to small odds and ends here and there. On average, depending on how involved you get, you're looking at putting anywhere from 1-6 hours weekly.
That's an extremely rough estimate.
Responsibilities vary based on what you get involved in and how often you are contacted for requests. Personally, my weekly involvement has ranged anywhere from 0 to 20 hours. It can get that onerous.
There's no definite availability criterion, but we're looking for people willing and dedicated enough to put work in when it is requested.
All this considered, there are no obligations to do anything, except maybe dealing with the guilt of letting down a big cuddly snorlax or... HotBid.

Are there usually opening for anything else? I could proofread or something, haha. I'm a rather good "technical reader" i.e. catch awkward constructions/full-blown errors, if I may say so myself, but anyone could make that claim.
Just would like to contribute to the site in any way possible, but I'm absolutely no good at the usual CS-related/graphics related jobs, etc., and editors...heh. TL is in no need of an editor and the job generally requires a veteran status, etc...shouldn't even mention it.

Just finished my BA in Graphic Design. Applying now.
One thing is that the Bank blocked my account (I moved countries, they think I'm comitting credit card fraud or something) resulting in my Web-site being taken down which means I'd have to attach portfolio works with-in the e-mail or just upload them to somewhere. Which would be preferable?
If the former would you prefer them in PDF format (most of my work is made to go to print hence the file type) or just PNG/JPEG?

Thanks Elvars! Initially I wanted to make a zergling, but it's body would cut out those back parts to much, so I went with a hydra instead.
I think yours looks great, but I would move the head to the right a bit (if it were me) =D.
I really like logo design and header stuff, so I hope that's what TL needs. =).

U guys seriously need a better looking site that delivers information more organized.
Here's a cool ideea in my opinion, make users decide what the website shows them. A new website witch allows registered users to select categories, news...streams (just examples, these could very well be the modules left/right...and they just disable modules based on their accounts) that they want to see. These settings are account-based.
This way, each user has his own personalized page with the info he wants to see.
Again this is just an idea that poped and i barely saw any sites do this. If u have an information filled website, this could be great.
Again...design......i know u have some ties to the 80's theme of websites, but seriously....design design design. Putting some cool artwork pictures on an old website is like putting a flower on a decaying body...it won't make it smell nicer

Rebound, a forum is a forum is a forum. This website is a forum. Simplistic design is what makes it most functional, and likely the very reason why many people have remained loyal to it. I'm not saying personalization isn't a good thing- it is- but why fix what's not broken. Gawker did that and lost a significant amount of their traffic with their "upgraded layout."

TL does not plan on changing its design anytime soon,don't even bother asking.

and related to "it's a forum" then u fail to see it evolved past a the just forum stage... and i don't disagree with u..simple is good i never said make something very ritch in design elements, i said redesign what is now. A stupid but simple example would be the SC2 forums....they are simple as u can get...u can just post/edit/delete threads...that's it...it's one of the simplest yet intelligent made forums out there..yet...it looks beautiful, friendly and easy to find stuff and very easy on the eyes.

With all due respect TL has a slightly old but functional beauty about it. I've accounts on a number of other sites with various interfaces and I can't say I like any more than I like TL's.
Maybe I'm not a credible source, but I'm a web designer as well as a graphic designer. I don't mean to offend you, just throwing out my two cents.
