Hi,
I am one of the organizers and can confirm Coal's information! We are arranging a Barcraft-event @ Göteborgs nation in cooperation with Rakaka.se, scheduled to take place during the MLG Invitational Europe @ October 11th. We will have quizes/etc with prizes sponsored by Rakaka, such as Battlefield 3 and FIFA 12 (optional platforms).
For more info (unfortunately in swedish) please visit: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=268353036531943
Attend and support e-sport! =)

So it is not going to be anynthing on O'Learys anymore?
And you need a "kårleg" to be on Göteborgs Nation?
This sucks.
I hope as few as possible show up so it gets done in a ordinary bar next time .
Edit: What kårleg means is that you need to be a university student in Uppsala to get into the bar.

Thanks for the appreciation. This event was created parallelly with the one at Olearys, and its main focus was and is still is students due to the fact it is being held at a student nation. Olearys seem to have kinda ditched the other guys as Sweden's national soccer team is playing against Holland at the same day. So it's not really a relocated event but a a whole different one. I am sorry that you feel this way and that you seem to believe that people who are trying to support the e-sport - despite that it's being held at a nation - suck

Who knows.

Mjeeh I wish it was in Gothenburg instead of Gothenburgs Nation. Really would like to see some barcraft here too :/ I wonder what place would host that though (no student pub since I'm not a student anymore .

Hi fellow geeks, this is quite a late announcement, and it will probably not reach a lot of people, but it's better late than never!
There will be a Barcraft in ÖSTERSUND, Jämtland, this friday!
What we're watching: IPL#3 Origins Time: Friday 16:00 - Saturday 02:00 (GMT +1, Swedish time ofc ^^) Place: News Bar & Kök (Just to the left of ICA Traktören which is right below Kyrkparken, below Sibylla 11:ans, and above Stortorget)
Ofc you have to be 18+ to come.
And that's it. Feels really strange to write this in English as probably everyone coming will be Swedish, but forum rules are forum rules...
See ya there!

Quite late indeed.. But I'll add it to the OP , hopefully some more people will see it !

I'm considering a weekend in Östersund now
But isn't the soccer match Finland - Sweden on Friday evening? Could you please confirm that you won't show soccer on friday instead of starcraft 2?
Also a good idea would be to post the event on the swedish barcraft homepage.

My friend, who spoke to the bar owner, has arranged it to be Starcraft on the big screen. News Bar & Kök isn't like Olearys in the way they show sports. Well, usually there is like Eurosport on their screen, but nobody's ever watching. If people want to see the football game, they can simply go to Olearys just down the street.
The worst thing that can happen now, is that the bar owner decides to be an asshole and turns us down in the last minute, but let's not hope for that.

Perhaps it should be mentioned that there will be barcraft same time saturday too. Same place the next day!

Gn4M, how did the BarCraft in östersund go?
|
Sigh... I lived 200 m from News in Östersund a few years ago. If I was anywhere close to Östersund today I'd definately have been there.

It went pretty well. The first day we were planned to be about 20-25 people but since the stream wasn't working people dropped off untill we had to cancel the event.
On saturday we were about 10 but we had a good time none the less.

Ye.. Poor IPL :/ Really unlucky, but I'm glad you had a great time regardless of technical difficulties !

Right, that wasn't how I would tell it... I think it was an utter failure, and all because of the internet failure... -.- The amount of bad luck was just unreal. Yes we were expecting quite a few the first day, but since it failed hard I think most people lost their faith, and so nobody came the next day. And we were only 6-8 people watching on saturday.
The bar owner also seemed to doubt our event, he kept asking whether more people would be arriving soon the second day. If we're going to arrange another one in the future, we better have like 20 names ready, and only have barcraft one night. I think it was a bit too optimistic to introduce Östersund to this by streaming for 20 hours in total spanning two days.
And god damn it those bar chairs were killing my ass after 5 hours SC2 straight the 2nd day... xD
Well in short it was a fail, but 90% due to bad luck and 10% due to too much optimism. At least we learned something of it! :D

Uhh, lol. How is that any different from what he said? It's pretty much the exact same thing. First day got unlucky with their internet/stream, second day there were less people. It's not like 8 people is far from about 10 people, not really sure what your point is tbh
