You need an addon that can launch local javascripts on websites. Than you just copy the source code. There is nothing browser related in it. License :CC BY-NC-SA Source-code: http://userscripts.org/scripts/review/110422 Its ugly dirty and hardcoded and im fine with that.
-Its just a short javascript. -Script is hardcoded but i it works. -javascript sucks! -Because of the different border you can not block the staff (and don't add them as friends^^) Source Code
If you use that on thedeadhaji, you might crash the site!
Pretty nifty tool. I won't use it, since the people I might use it on are too stupid and amusing to pass up reading, but the applications are real and worth noting. Good idea here, Skeldark.
Does this block admins, mods, and TLAF staff? If so, you might want to remove that part.
I wonder how long it will take until someone shares a list of the personal bans he/she has dished out... That might turn this thread into the same spectacle that my "Large ignore list"-thread was.
I think it's a nice script, but since the mods on this forum work quite diligently to keep the shit out of here, I don't think I'd be using this much at all. The people who deserve this kind of local ban tend to disappear quite soon anyway.
This is for the not for the guys that break the rules, or spamming. We have the report button for this. This is for the balance discusser and the fanboys. If you use the tool often enough you start thinking that TL is full of mature intelligent people ...

its just a javascript. The hole thing is 1,5 sites of code. The addon only load it. So if you find a chrome addon that autoload javascripts on websites you can just copy paste the sourcecode.
btw: i think i change some little things in it so upload a newer version later

Well you sure know how to advertise! I'LL TAKE IT!
Almost every forum I go to is starting to use these and it's such a scary turn of events for modern society.
How is it that it's more acceptable to simply, quietly shut someone out entirely rather than 1) looking at opposing views, b) looking at mindless drivel and ignoring it or c) ignoring dickheads trying to start a problem or even d) having a debate, without it turning into endless arguing
It's like when people look down and fiddle with phones in public when they feel awkward or don't want to talk to someone. You know they're there, you're just pretending.

I will use this to just get rid of the most annoying guys. It saves time and make reading tl nicer. Because you should discuss in a forum it would be dump to use it to block different opinions.

I'm hugely not a fan of this. Not that it's automatically evil, but encouraging people to block out people they don't want to read for whatever reason will make discussions make much less sense.

I agree with this, it kind of discourages discussion when you block out everyone who has a differing opinion.

but cool little script nonetheless :D
I agree. The user decide what to do with it. Like i said in the op, its kind of pointless to visit a forum when you don't what to hear different opinions. I understand you concerns but you must agree that there are many guys on tl you can not stand reading. Mostly its not about there opinion its about over what and how they write. On the other hand if people know that there is such a tool perhaps they think one time before they click the post button...
Is it okay if I just copy this banlist into my list? It seems like it would be a good idea? ._.
On a more serious note, this looks awesome. Does it prevent you from seeing threads made by banned dudes? or just posts? In any case I'll give this a try Even though I doubt I'll have much reason/change to use it, It's a cool idea

I filter all post. Not the topic on the menubars. But he dont care if its op or normal post.
Btw: just see : because of the different tag in the admin-border it can not ban them I will write a patch for this bug when they start spamming all over the forum
I don't really see how I'd really use this. Some days people are in shitty moods, other day's I'm in a shitty mood. I generally like to wait to see if I genuinely don't like someone, and even then, I get a good laugh out of reading their posts ^_^
Neat idea though, not sure how this is gonna go over with R1CH...
Hm, well it's funny anyways. But like Kimaker I can't imagine a reason to use it. It mostly seems designed for irritable people as the really crappy posters tend to get banned anyways. The widespread use of this would create a general decline in conversation imo.
Consider, a given thread where everyone is talking their piece and ignoring everyone in the thread.... oh wait that happens already doesn't it? But it seems to encourage the talking with your fingers in your ears mentality.
I wish I saw this yesterday. reading through the EG announcement thread was a pain and I would have banned a lot of people. I`m not going to use it for now, but surely keep it in mind and if the next thread is going down the trollish road I will try it out.

why do you think i final sit down today and programmed it? ^^
Version 1.0 is out. should be bug free tested everything. BTW coding in javascript is like driving a gocard as f1 pilot...
I honestly don't think this is a good idea... it'll just take away from the discussion aspect of the forum :/ if you block someone who says one trollish thing and then you miss his excellent point in the next thread, you'll miss out.

I'm happy to have this, I can't stand those guys writing : "04:30 Player A builds 10 lings" in every fucking tourney thread and I don't care if they write anything useful ever.

is he complaining about people like Drazerk and MoonBear LRing in the LR threads? wow.
Don't think i'll be using this myself. If he's really that bad, he'll get banned, and i wont have to see his posts anyways.
I dont agree with this at all, are we not men here? can we not shrug off the stupid comments we see on TL? If someone has a differing opinion, or is just plain stupid, who cares, move on with your day. TL has mods, are you saying they are not doing there job or something? i thought the moderation was preety much perfect, if someone is out of line, they will receive the hammer, if we have everyone running around the threads going "ugh this guy made ONE stupid post in this thread, i think i will permanently erase his comments from my life and never see his comments/opinions ever again", we'd have 1/2 the posts in any thread, and never learn a damn thing. Just ignore it if someones making stupid comments, trolls are easy to spot you know.
the asteroids script is so fun (especially in conjunction with flying monkeys)
What, may I ask, is a flying monkey?
This will answer all your questions about life, the universe, and everything.
EDIT: darn, someone beat me to it. I was wondering if I could copy the js code so I could run it on any page, but that's hard [er, page that I can't edit the source of]
All this would lead to is discussion threads which make absolutely no sense because everyone just ignores each other. Yes it's kind of like that already but this would make the problem even larger. Now you could just say to me "don't use it then", but if people start using this it affects everyone on tl because they will just be ignoring each other and perhaps even ignorant of the topic they are trying to discuss. Nice idea but no thanks.

So only 4 guys replay to it and they all loved it! NICE!
just kidding. because this hole blocking thing looks so negative i added in days of hard work a FRIEND option too. (i copy pasted the code 1 time and changed the var names ^^)

Only reason why I would use this thing. Thank jebus other people are in an agreement with me as well. Either way, he hasn't been spamming much lately. So for now, I will have this there till I see him once more.
I just want to say.... thank you for making this. After reading a bunch of the NASL threads, I wanted to make a rage blog about TL should have a downvote button because of the amount of people that just say random shit that I can only assume the only purpose is to feed the hate machine.
Okay now I will download it, not for the banhammer [althought there are the 3 unholy, Probe1. Torte and Corvette] but the friends highlight option is AWESOME, allows you to skim a thread for certain peoples opinion.
I'd rather not employ this, since even if someone's a dick in one thread, he might provide valuable information that I'll end up asking for long after he posts it in another.
That said ZURG OP NOOBS RELGION GUNS HIPSTER SRCASM
Please switch to web/DOM storage instead of cookies. This is wasting bandwidth on TL by having everyone who uses it send their entire banlist to the server for every request. I'll be blocking this in approximately one week.

btw can you pls rename the thread into: TL -BanHammer & FriendMarker

Oof. I admire the OP for the initiative, and for the effort put into this little project, but I have serious concerns about it. As others have said, if this gets widespread, we could end up with a situation where people are all ignoring each other and the conversation ends up making different amounts of sense to different people depending on their ban lists, with those of us not using the app having to put up with even more people repeating questions and comments that have already been posted.
If this gets widespread, I think people need to be very conscious of the responsibility that comes with using it. I would really want to start seeing the ban hammer come down on people who post identical questions and comments to others who they can't see because they've blocked them.

i chance that they do it because they dont read the other posts is 10000 times higher. Most people post without reading the thread and because of this guys i created this tool... I understand all the problems that comes with it and that you can just click report.
Before i block someone i always check the post history and many of them don't do anything bad that deserves a ban. But none of the post is worth reading it...
Well as a profoundly opinionated, incoherent, belligerent and irresponsible poster, with a propensity to lack grammar and spelling this is quite disagreeable, as would go with my contrarian proclivity.
I've begun blocking the old version of this. If you haven't updated, do so now or remove the script from user scripts. If problems persist, try clearing your cookies.
the newer version was already removing the cookies after save the data. the last version didnt read or write any cookies any more I can not remove old version from userscript but he shows a warning if you try to download an old version.
I'd just like to say that, clicking these three links and seeing the three threads you chose, I started laughing so hard I was crying. It's totally correct-- but also objectively hilarious.

Sorry to bump this thread. So I am starting to use this thing and find it awesome. I however have the issue that it changes the date from: 'MMMM DD YYYY HH:mm' to 'MM DD YYYY HH:mm' which is... obnoxious. I'm wondering, since I don't see anyone else mentioning it, is this a conscious change and if so, could it be possible to have a check mark for that too(or in the least have check mark for 'DD MM YYYY HH:mm')?

I use dark theme too and my buttons, Darktheme buttons and long usernames could be to much for one line. So i did this little trick to get more space. I can make a marker for it. For now just go into the sourcecode (right mousebutton on the script) and find
// -----------------------make term shorter by cutting month out
comment everything under it out with // until
//---------------- NUKE BANNED
DId not update this for long time now because most of the new changes i did in the past are very personal and i dont think most people want them in. like hidding liquidbet or remove the tl banner or a link to search for your username in content.
I just discovered this script. Very useful thanks! I only use it for the friends list atm. Pretty cool to highlight posts from famous ppl.

im a little bit offended to be with some of the guys on the same list If i see a really good post from someone i add them too. Most of the time if i see them again they have something good to add.
Sadly i lost by clearing firefox cache last time my list
Sorry for the </span> stuff and so but this script is old and started as private tool so i never really cleaned it.
Thanks for the script, it's really useful. Opera-users should add window.unsafeWindow = window; at the beginning though, otherwise the variable is undefined. Since this thread is specified as the script homepage, I necroed it in case some other Opera-users find the script on userscripts.org (like I did just now) and can't figure out why it won't work.
EDIT: The website-design was changed, so there's no more span with the class topright anymore. This means, that there's no link to the options because the script can't find the element to insert it in. But replacing
scripttextEDIT += '</span ><br> '; var $somewhere2 = $main('span[class="topright"]');
with
scripttextEDIT += '</span > '; var $somewhere2 = $main('div[class="top_menu right"]');
brings it back and places it at the top in the navbar.
