Hello, all!
It's become quite apparent that many of you are not reading the first post carefully.
Failure to do so in the future will be met with swift punishment. And as always, remember to be civil.
Thanks,

You just took away Idra streaming with commentary for atleast 20-30k people. All out of spite. Yeah you can hide behind the "rules" but everyone knows whats the relationship between Idra and TL mods. Idra took away the stream in the first place, then directed hate from his fans at TL. You shouldve read the thread. It clearly states that idra uses JTV for streaming, and even during his ban the stream will be featured on TL. This means the ban will IN NO WAY effect idras ability to stream. The only reason this will stop idra streaming is if he stops out of his own spite. TL have done nothing to directly affect his ability to stream. "you have a plaethora of troll mods/staff/ex-staff who can get away with anything they say" Yeah...no "he will speak his mind and mods just wait for the opportunity to ban him" I suggest you look at his posts in the automated ban thread, every one of them deserves the ban, idra actually gets leniency because of his status, anyone else with his attitude wouldve been out of heere long ago.

We took nothing. Teamliquid and Idra's stream are in no way connected. Is he still featured, though? As far as I know, yes.

There is no way you can moderate this thread without closing it I guess

Well, just when I thought Idra, who was doing so well, was becoming less of a rage-monster, surprise!
90 is a bit much, but it's not my call so eh.

GG tl I'm not sure you understand how streaming works around here, so let me give you a rundown.
Idra uses the website Justin.tv to host his stream. This is the website teamliquid.net. Ready for the complicated part? Idra hasn't been banned from Justin.tv, he has been banned from teamliquid.net. These are different websites. Because they are different websites, bans from one do not carry over onto the other. IdrA can stream if he wants to, because he has not been banned from Justin.tv.
The reason Idra's stream can appear on this website (Justin.tv inside teamliquid.net), under the pretty blue pony is because of a thing called embedding. Here on the World Wide Web, embedding is what it's called when something from one website is shown on another. It's what happens with YouTube videos--the videos aren't actually owned by teamliquid even when they appear here.

I said it last time Idra got banned for messing with TL moderators. No one has Carte Blanche to disrespect TL staff, and even with Idra being the good player that he is, the buck has to stop somewhere.

Don't talk shit.
If IdrA want's to cut off his nose to spite his face (he makes money from people watching his stream and also gains fans) then let him.
The TL mods are trying to make this a better community and as much as I enjoy watching IdrA Play and BM, to act the same way on a forum that promotes him and helps him become who he is as part of the StarCraft community is unacceptable.

This got IdrA 90 days? Okay, I have to slightly disagree with the decision made. Yes, what he initially said deserves a ban. But the justification was that IdrA had all his fans spam Chill's box from his Twitter account. I see nothing wrong with what IdrA posted here... He does not ask his fans to berate Chill, just send him a PM if you think the temp ban upsets you. Now, I guarantee there were at least 50 or so people that took it to the next level but that should not give reason to up the ban from my perspective. And, for those that do not think what Cruncher did was wrong... I have to COMPLETELY disagree. If you think he was ghosting, what's not to stop him from at the 5 minute mark to alt + tab check Idra's stream and then get back in game... 15 seconds you know exactly what is coming. It's like people saying I have used MH in the past but do not anymore. No way you believe them. TL:DR IdrA deserved a ban but do not think the 90 day post decision was made without slight bias. If I get a speeding ticket and I think it's totally unfair, not because I wasn't driving too fast but because I think I should be allowed to break the speed limit, then I don't train hundreds of monkeys to go to the house of the police officer who enforced the law and hurl shit. Instead I use the established structures within society to try and reform the law or move to another country with laws I prefer.
What an irrelevant analogy.
Going with the speeding ticket.
Idra posted "Just got a ticket for yelling at another driver, everyone call the police and request officer Chill if this upsets you"
I completely agree with the original two day ban for rising to Cruncher's snipe with an immature post, but don't come in here with a horrible analogy and try to act like he's being some monster when it isn't even close to that. Maybe you just didn't realize what you were writing before you hit post.

Also, just as an addendum
TL agrees to feature Idra's stream, even through the ban. (even the 2 day one) Whether or not to stream is Idra's choice.

The duration of this ban is absurdly high. Instead of banning try to open a private dialoge with him and esplain the situation calmly.

I think TL did the right thing and will continue to do what's best for the community. Not sure how or why anyone can side with IdrA and feel the punishment is somehow unfair..if any random TLer had said what IdrA said they'd probably be IP banned. IdrA should lick his wounds and consider himself lucky to be given a chance to post again after the 90 days. Just because you're a programer doesn't mean you're above the rules.
|
I wonder how many of you are advocating for IdrA and are simultaneously new users from SC2. I'm wondering how many of you weren't around for the BW years. Don't color me a hater either. I bet $80 on IdrA against NonY via Rekrul in TSL2. I was around when IdrA started.
IdrA modeled himself after NaDa in play. The difference in the two in manners is ridiculous though.
Edit: I mean really?

Can he actually log in and put the stream on the list ? Does the ban mean only revoking the posting right ?
It is and was obvious for anyone who knows Idra. I cant fathom you thought it would result in anything different. By that logic you did actually take away the streaming with commentary theres no way around it. We all know how Idra posts - he doesnt give a fuck and will do things out of spite. Im sure every TL staff member knows it.
He posts alot of bannable shit but the post that got him in trouble was NEVER actually worth a ban in the first place. He actually asked people to stop the cruncher drama and got banned for it ( and the insult yes i know).
edit: i see alot of people misunderstood me - i know how streaming works. I dont know if he actually can log in and pt his sream on the stream list and i hope someone tell me that.
what i KNOW and every TL mod is that he will do things out of spite and thats what i meant when saying he wont be streaming.

Damnit I wish IdrA wasn't so compulsive.... >_> The ban had to be done but I don't see why Greg would tell his fans to harass one of the (if not the most) hardest working TL-Staff member around for a two day ban.
|
TL is simply doing what's right to keep everything in check.

So Idra was basicly begging for a longer ban. He could had just said "Ok I'm sorry I said that" and it would had been over with. But he didnt.

Gotta love Teamliquid for exactly these decisions and the whole thought process behind them, keep it up! As for Greg, well, fits his attitude ... funny guy.
