Gay or straight, Incontrol would be great if you were very sad and in need of cuddles. Imagine the hugs!

Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion. For regular posters, don't quote the trolls.

This is most likely a poor, but it may have something to do with conservative Confucian values? This is why I'm confused, usually religion is the culprit but as far as South Korea goes they are relatively irreligious iirc (Compared to say, the USA or South America). How does homophobia in South Korea compare to Japan, another first world, East Asian, relatively irreligious nation? edit: spelling

It wouldn't surprise me if there were several gay or bisexual pro-gamers in Korea who simply don't acknowledge it, especially when Korean friendships between males seems a lot more intimate than in the West. What some people would consider homosexual behaviour in the West would be perfectly normal between two close friends in Korea. But yeah, I can't see it being a good environment for a gay non-Korean pro-gamer.

Personally I think we are kinda not great, a study was in The Age about a national racism survey... with dissappointing results Yes saw that one, it is disappointing but our country suffers from a big infestation of meat heads. Racism and homophobia are something we're gonna suffer from as a population for a long time. There are alot of really awesome people of course, but I would say the majority are actually intolerant xenophobes. It's not even religiously fueled. Christianity is the major religion in our country, but even then not many people follow it. Exhibit A: This ... The comments are just disgusting.

I don't know where we get them from, but many of us have them from a very very young age. I myself was very feminine when i was pre-12 years old. My nickname in elementary school was "girly-boy". (which, while mean, didn't offend me all that much because at the time i considered women to be superior to men. GOD i was gay. lol) Once i got about 10 years old i realized what 'gay' was and realized that i was acting pretty fucking gay, and started to develop a complex about it. I went from being a loud/out-going awesome kid to a depressing one pretty quickly. By the age of 13 i was riddled with many depression and anxiety disorders. I dropped out of highschool at the age of 14 cause of all those issues. I would sometimes hear what would come out of my mouth, and i would close my eyes and wish i ceased to exist because of how embarrassed i was. The stupid part is by the time i dropped out of highschool, i had learned to drop most of the mannerisms (but not all). I wasn't that flamboyant. Other kids aren't so lucky. They have no control no matter how much they try to hide it. They're doomed to relentless teasing and prejudice, much worse than any other kinds i've seen in school. One of the flamers at my school was attacked by some guys in the locker room who thought he was checking them out. They didn't beat hm up to bad but they all pissed on him in the showers. pretty sad. So yeah, those gays learn to get really tough. In fact, i was thinking about this the other day, and those kinds of gays are probably some of the toughest people i've ever met. They've never been able to hide behind their masculinity like i have, they've had to live every day of their life out in the open. After so much torture, you only have 2 ways you can cope. You can either kill yourself (too many of them still take this route), or you can fiercely and unapologetically be your fantastic flaming faggot self. This is the second part. Once gays realize that they can't control it, they will often embrace it and that's when they 'play it up' (though that's such an aweful way to put it). This is the threshold between being gay and being fabulous. Since getting to know many fabulous people, i'm no longer bothered by it in the slightest. Infact, these kinds of people are hilarious, good, amazingly strong individuals. I'm not attracted to them in the slightest, but they definitely don't annoy me like they certainly used to. This has to be the most idiotic post I've ever read on these forums. I don't care if I get banned for this. Really, people who think like this are what makes people hate gays. I'm gay myself and you have to act like that? No, you don't. You can actually be a normal person, talk normal, walk normal and be attracted to guys without being a huge attentionwhore. Now about the subject i'm not gay but in the last couple of years i have been "exposed" to some guys who are gays and became friends with them in a heterosexual way of course :D and that helped me accept gay people has normal people. Not that i ever considerer myself a homofic or did anything to hurt a gay person. Now when i grew up even tho my country is not homofobic in a agressive way, it's always there you know.. and i grew up calling my friends gay always joking around and making fun of it etc.. and they did the same to me,.. but now that i am older and wiser i can look to the struggle it must be for every gay people in the world and i simpatize with it and feel sorry for some that can't get out of the closet. What i'm saying is that i much prefer to see a friend of mine come out of the closet and have a partner and someone to love then spend his life unhappy and alone. I don't care if you are gay, i will hang out with you if you are a cool dude. It's simple and easy. Nowadays is quite normal to find a gays in Lisbon and they don't bother me at all. Prejudice against gays is wrong like it his against race, color, religion or any other minority. Now gay people that enjoy games is new for me, i after reading your post i feel like gay people can be nerds of everything. And there is gays everywhere in everything, man and girl. This is a good thread and i hope some guys and girls find whatever help/info they need to improve their lives!

If you don't like guys who are 'too feminine' or girls who are 'too masculine' or vice versa, just don't hang out or make friends with them, easy enough right? But for the rest of use who love everybody, quit the hate parade.

Even though I am sure the intentions of your post were good, I feel kind of sad when I read "Now gay people that enjoy games is new for me". Why wouldn't there be gay gamers? Being gay doesn't exclude people from enjoying certain hobbies in life. I do however fully agree with your last line though, and I am certain this thread does help both gays and straights with acceptance and information.
