Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

I mean, I can only assume you're swimming in women and gay men if this is even a concern of yours seeing as most men barely receive any attention of a sexual nature beyond their SO with the exception of say Brad Pitt and James Franco.

I have deep respect for you being that honest to post it on a site like Teamliquid - thats about what I wanted to say , even though I find it a bit strange to post it here :-) hopefully you don't take it as an offence.
BTW I don't think someone is gay because he's into fashion. I'm curious, hypothetical situation where a guy hits on you unknowing that you are straight. Are you bothered by this, or is it basically what amounts to sexual harassment that bothers you? I ask because alot of people I know give a similar response to you, and sounds slightly like "I don't mind gays, as long as they aren't in public. If he hits on me and I sense / know that and I tell him to stop / quit it and he continues it bothers me. I really don't mind hanging around with a guy thats bi or gay as long as he respects me and my sexuality. I also don't mind behaving like I would with a hetero person in like - having a small fight for fun like men have from time to time. I just don't like being hit on.. in a sexual way :-) because I'm not into men. "unknowing that I'm straight" I will tell him as soon as I figure he hits on me. Is that a satisfying answer, because I'm not sure where you are getting ^^! I was just interested, and depending on what answer you gave, so that I could silently judge you or not.
Actually i love it when gay dudes hit on me. I am attractive, who cares who im attractive to! Its a compliment either way! I do however politely decline and thank them for the interest :D edit: I dont mean it happens a lot, but it has happened thrice!

Being passive around someone else's intolerance doesnt equal being tolerant, any parent that condemns their child for something they cant help, doesnt deserve and shouldnt be allowed to have children, would you view a handicapped child who had a sign on his wheelchair saying "my parents are ashamed of me and their is nothing wrong about that" as being toleranet because in my eyes its horrible.
And Im just using being handicapped as an arbitrary genetic difference to the "norm" before anyone jumps on me for that.

Perhaps it's because of the word 'hit' but I'm fine with gay people as long as they are not interested in me knowing that I'm not gay.

User was temp banned for this post.
That's cause every sc2 thread is a straight sc2 thread. Straight privilage.

I was thinking it would actually be passingly funny to start a thread "Straight SC Players".
But only passingly.
That and/or refer to gamers by their gender eg. "Jinro is playing tonight! Honestly he is one of the best male SC2 gamers out there!". (Go Jinro btw!)

I have a question about gays and starcraft:
You may see a lot of people "insulting" other people with words on sexual orientation (especially for rushers-cheesers-alliners), and those words mostly belong to this one. What is the general view among gays about this?

I think you dont know the difference between disagreeing with actions and disagreeing with characteristics. You also might want to look up the word tolerance. It means putting up with something you find unpleasant. By your logic the kid is being intolerant because he is condemning the parents for having a unpleasant reaction to homosexual behavior because they are heterosexuals.

How many kids really get a complete support of their parents regarding their lifestyle? You're blessed if your parents support half the things you do. Do you think the parents of straight guys never condemned their girlfriends? Unless you're incredibly lucky you have to deal with your parents and love em despite them being shitheads.
I undestand though, of course, that it definitely feels far worse as a gay person because for most it would feel like the whole world is against you because of "who you are"

I think gays are seriously underrepresented in the Pro SCII scene! Are there no gay progamers?
Ah well, I'll just have to go pro then.

Ah well, I'll just have to go pro then. South Korea is the most homophobic first world country in the world. It would be suicidal to come out of the closet if you are concerned about your career.
Pity that they have the cutest guys in the world.

A post with great, inaccurate hyperbole. I suggest you look at places like Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Jamaica for your tag of "most homophobic".

I wouldn't really call those first world countries, at least not on the level that South Korea is.
|
Does any social or cultural reason exist as to why South Korea is especially homophobic?

who doesnt have a crush on incontrol??

Why would you want a person at specificly a gay pride parade to hold up that sign if characteristics =! actions, gay pride is about being a proud of a certain genetic characteristic of that group of people, what does their parents approval of their lifestyle have to do with that?
You made the connection between lifestyle and being homesexual by referencing a gay pride parade not me.
And with reguards the definition of tolerance/intolerance, Ive actually come across this a few times, but is intolerance of intolerance actually intolerance? because I dont personally believe it is, its a double negative,
I dont know what kid your talking about in the last sentance, mind explaining?

Wait wait wait. South Korea's homophobic? Really? I thought that they were kinda socially progressive. Oh well guess I was wrong. edit: not meaning to stereotype. And while I hesitate to condradict a Mod (yet agree with another one) Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Jamacia are actually not first world countries (arguable Jamacia maybe the other two if they hadn't had wars). Btw I would be interested on other countries perceptions of Australia's homophobia or lack thereof. Personally I think we are kinda not great, a study was in The Age about a national racism survey... with dissappointing results
