Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

For regular posters, don't quote the trolls.

If you ever make your way to Texas

Although seriously, all innuendo aside if any of yall ever do make it to Dallas, TX I'd be happy to show yall around the gay strip. Roundup is apparently an internationally known gay cowboy bar.

Whenever I get motivated to improve, I read this. It's extremely comprehensive and very useful.

I'll definitely read that when I get home. I read a good chunk here at work but I don't have time to read the whole thing. Honestly though I know how to improve I just need to sack up and learn from my losses instead of quitting when I lose. I'm platinum because I'm a baby.

I might be in Dallas next year if they have an MLG there :O

I plan on Columbus, Dallas, Raleigh, and Providence or any other semi close East Coast venues!

Then we shall go to the gay cowboy bar and drink our asses off!

There's also a straight bar I really like in town called Katy Trail Ice House that has a great atmosphere.

At first;
Who am I to write here?
Im neither homo- or bisexual. But I find these stuff very interesting. And I'd like to bring up an almost 1½ year old post.

Okay, at first I thought it would be a semi-long post, but it's kinda very long...
Sorry for a wall of text, but I loove discussing stuff, if you don't want to answer me, just ignore me.

And I'm sorry if I'm all over you by my very down-to-earth-expressions, I dont mean to harm anyone here.

This is from the second page of this thread, but it kinda brings up more than one thing I in particular find interesting.
And yeah, I have only read about 10 pages of this almost 200 page thread, so if this is a redundant post I am sorry about that and simply tell me if it is and I'll check it up in the thread myself

Why do some gay guys talk with a lisp and have feminine mannerisms? Is this put on or natural?

What a great question.

Super fucking hard to answer.

There's 2 parts.

At first, when you're young, you have no control over these mannerisms. I don't know where we get them from, but many of us have them from a very very young age. I myself was very feminine when i was pre-12 years old. My nickname in elementary school was "girly-boy". (which, while mean, didn't offend me all that much because at the time i considered women to be superior to men. GOD i was gay. lol)

Once i got about 10 years old i realized what 'gay' was and realized that i was acting pretty fucking gay, and started to develop a complex about it. I went from being a loud/out-going awesome kid to a depressing one pretty quickly. By the age of 13 i was riddled with many depression and anxiety disorders. I dropped out of highschool at the age of 14 cause of all those issues.

I would sometimes hear what would come out of my mouth, and i would close my eyes and wish i ceased to exist because of how embarrassed i was. The stupid part is by the time i dropped out of highschool, i had learned to drop most of the mannerisms (but not all). I wasn't that flamboyant.

Other kids aren't so lucky. They have no control no matter how much they try to hide it. They're doomed to relentless teasing and prejudice, much worse than any other kinds i've seen in school. One of the flamers at my school was attacked by some guys in the locker room who thought he was checking them out. They didn't beat hm up to bad but they all pissed on him in the showers. pretty sad.

So yeah, those gays learn to get really tough. In fact, i was thinking about this the other day, and those kinds of gays are probably some of the toughest people i've ever met. They've never been able to hide behind their masculinity like i have, they've had to live every day of their life out in the open.

After so much torture, you only have 2 ways you can cope. You can either kill yourself (too many of them still take this route), or you can fiercely and unapologetically be your fantastic flaming faggot self. This is the second part. Once gays realize that they can't control it, they will often embrace it and that's when they 'play it up' (though that's such an aweful way to put it). This is the threshold between being gay and being fabulous.

Since getting to know many fabulous people, i'm no longer bothered by it in the slightest. Infact, these kinds of people are hilarious, good, amazingly strong individuals. I'm not attracted to them in the slightest, but they definitely don't annoy me like they certainly used to.

Now, first of this interesting stuff:
Exactly what this post is about: Guys being very feminine while being gay.
I feel like I still didn't really understand why some of you does this? Maybe there isn't anything to understand and it simply is that way.
But I'd like to ask in particular Mora simply because I know you could answer it (but of course you guys that feel like you can respond the question - feel free!)
Here goes; What I wonder is where this "drive" to be that feminine comes from? I can understand that young people doesn't look at it the same way as you can do later on in life as you grow. I believe there should be some kind of consciousness that is responsible for this. I'd really like to know anything you can say about it
And for second of my thoughts on this post;
About the two routes gays tend to take out of this hard spots: Suicide or simply be yourself.
This is a very grim reality, and as for me - who lives life with an extraordinary vitality and life-joy - I have a really, really hard time understanding suicide.
I can understand suicidal thoughts, but I really cant understand the actual action of suicide.
As for me, I strongly believe that everything can be decided by the power of our minds - Mind over body, is my great way of life. Which might lead us to a very different thing than actual homosexuality, but to bring the topic back on track:
To you guys out there being homosexual - how much of a struggle have you had with fighting against suicidal thoughts? And I don't mean by the means of bullying, but the means of you guys being unable to accept yourselves (since I think bullying is the most common reason for homosexuals committing suicide, correct me if I am wrong!)
And as of this comment, I'd like to add a little youtube clip along with this, as it made a great impression on me (I wouldn't be surprised if it's already linked in this thread, but this time I dont care )

And if you still have time left, I'd also like to add a little comment to this clip with a song. Headhunterz - Just Say My Name.

Now to me third and last thought of this comment;
As I have observed (and I live of observing, reading and interpretating (correct spelling?) people) there are a quite big variety of homosexual people (let us call them "types", and I probably wont bring up all of them, but I will bring up 3 of them):
The """"normal"""" one (observe the overuse of "-signs). What I simply mean by this is the gays that you don't recognize out in public. As one of my very close friends, which I got kinda surprised when he told me one day "Today, I saw an angel"
Which led me to the question "What was she like?". And when he let me know it was a guy I got really confused and surprised, as I never imagined him being gay. Kinda fun thing
So, the second type of gay is this extremely feminine and flamboyant (as earlier described). These people really are cool.
I could categorize them into two groups aswell; The group I'd immediately say "Ok, he's gay." (which, btw, does not mean to be offensive in any way) and the other group that would made me say "Mmm, maybe he's gay? But I don't think so..?".
And here we are talking about the way of behaving, not the looks or anything else. I kind of admire those people. They ARE fabulous, as earlier said.
Now we come to the third type I was thinking about is this type that I just need to have a look for two seconds to determine whether he's gay or not.
I guess this type could be subcategorized too;
Sparkling colors to left and right, and I dont really know what more to say as I quite seldom see this type.
I'd like to put my focus on this type with tons and tons of make-up and a general aura of "Hey look at me I'm gay. Look Look Look!".
It's kinda hard to explain, and I dont think I have explained it enough to make you understand me entirely here. But I dont really know how to explain it better.
My point here is that I have a harder time dealing with this last-mentioned type.
From one perspective - sure, they are really damn cool and badass for having the strength to do it, but from another angle I do find it disturbing as I feel some kind of arrogance.
And sure - I may be entirely wrong right here, as there can be an entirely different person behind that make-up (if you allow me to say so). I dont know where I caught this feeling, but I got it.
So my question here is: How do you feel about this? The different types? Maybe there is something that a specific kind of "types" of homosexual people (or on the other hand heterosexual people?) that has some kind of aura that bugs you on sight?

Once again:
I'm sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes', I do also apologize if I bring up redundant stuff, but I kinda wanted to lead the thread back from gossip about hot players/casters/other guys to some discussion, if you allow me

I woke up at 1 today and left the house like 15 minutes after "waking" to go Christmas shopping with my brother and friends. I didn't "wake" up officially until we hit McDonalds at about 3:00 when I grabbed a coffee >.<

And I'm up for games whenever I'm on (unless I'm at work on my bad laptop). NZXT.686 and Endurance.804 are my handles. You'll probably see me hanging around in GTL normally.

Wow! That was a long post. o_o I think that the gay folks that you see as really super flamboyant might just enjoy dressing that way. It's possible that they're not trying to say "Hey look at me!", and it's probably just the fact that they don't conform to a typical male gender role that makes people notice them. If people cared less about certain genders having to dress/act a certain way then it wouldn't be a big deal. Either that, or maybe they are just saying "Hey look at me, I'm gay!" And if so, then good for them imo! Nothing wrong with a little pride in yourself.

Also, soooo many straight people seem to want to scream to the world that they're straight. I know so many straight guys on facebook where in every single picture of themselves they're holding onto some cute girly girl (or girls) and looking super tough and macho. So it goes both ways I think. Some people just like to really boldly express themselves I guess.

Hello! I never knew this thread even existed, I picked up sc2 7 months ago and really like the community! great to see an LGBT thread out here! ^^ Though I shouldn't be fooling myself I scanned a little and most of this thread is G BUT THAT IS AWESOME.

Probably the first time I've encountered positive discussion in a gamer community of LGBT people.

This. And day9 just got nominated to the forbes 30 under 30 list. that and PC gamer of the year... he's becoming a superstar out there. ^^ And for good reason. <3

Also... I haven't played much sc2 lately, still been watching a lot though, and I think if I didn't have HORRIBLE crisis-control hands when playing, I'd be pretty good. X3

Anybody want a gold/platinum zerg practice partner? :D

Also, my computers in the shop for until they fix the loose processor fan... bastards on the bus company didn't LET me move my own suitcase at one point when we switched buses and just tossed my suitcase under the bus... literally. ;~; Jarred a few power cords loose and the big problem,knocked the CPU fan loose... works for about 50 seconds until it auto-shutoffs from overheating. ;~;

I assembled the computer and fix it myself, but it only jarred two of the bolts on the fan out and I don't want to push in too hard and do something wrong so it's at a professional x.x
The fox is back.

Anybody want a gold/platinum zerg practice partner? :D

Also, my computers in the shop for until they fix the loose processor fan... bastards on the bus company didn't LET me move my own suitcase at one point when we switched buses and just tossed my suitcase under the bus... literally. ;~; Jarred a few power cords loose and the big problem,knocked the CPU fan loose... works for about 50 seconds until it auto-shutoffs from overheating. ;~;

I assembled the computer and fix it myself, but it only jarred two of the bolts on the fan out and I don't want to push in too hard and do something wrong so it's at a professional x.x

The more the merrier! The diamond players are helping me so I'm thrilled to pass it along to gold players (if anyone is wondering if we'll help). And we can practice our ZvZ. For Christmas I'm getting myself a swanky mouse instead of the fatass cheapo thing I've got now and I'm gonna make my baneling micro sing!!

If you have bad crisis hands I recommend playing against Always (not sure who he is on the forums) but he loves his cloak banshees and at our level of play on the ladder you rarely see well executed cheese. He'll force you to deal with that sort of stuff.

If I may suggest this and this. If I want to get motivated to play Starcraft, I don't know, these two do it.

EFF IT!

Ever since I saw the Emperor go to town on Luke in the Return of the Jedi I have wanted to shoot lightning out of my hands. I'm going to have to try SWTOR tonight. The blatant use of Skinner boxes to trick me into playing that so many MMO's employ will have their way with me...at least tonight. I'll still try to be around for most the week but the Dark Side is so seductive
