Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

My question is, how do you guys perceive religion? Are any of you religious? Are any of you catholic o_o? What do you think is wrong with certain Religious views vs, homosexuality, and what would you say to them? Sorry if some of this has already been asked -.- Personally I'm an agnostic athiest, There's no such thing. Agnostic = atheist. Both descriptions mean that you do not believe in a god. If by some miracle God appeared before us in all His Splendour and Glory, atheists aren't gonna go "well, there is still no god", which is really the only distinction agnostic/atheist tries to draw. No, there's a difference. Agnostic means you believe that you cannot know whether there is a god or not. Atheist means you believe there is no god. My guess is that when this guy says agnostic atheist (poor, vague phrasing) he means he is agnostic (thinks you cannot know) who leans atheist (feels pretty sure that there is no god). There is no difference there. Atheists believe there is no god, because evidence doesn't point that way, ditto agnosticism. As you say yourself, "Agnostic means you believe that you cannot know whether there is a god or not", ergo the status quo is not believing in god, and not believing in god = atheism. Either you believe in god or you don't.
The difference is that one side believes it is possible to know, the other believes it is impossible to know. Semantics, maybe, but a difference. Anyway, back to the thread at hand! :p

Agnostic is you believe there IS a higher power, but aren't sure in what form it culminates. you believe that there is a god or a deity of some kind but don't agree with standardized religions.
Atheist is you do not believe in a god at all.
Sorry to revive this, but I just have to point out that you are completely wrong. The definitions of "agnostic" and "atheist" vary a lot, but as a guy who has spent an inordinate amount of time studying religious debates, I have never seen your definition of "agnostic" used. I don't know where you heard that "agnostic" implies a belief in a higher power. Agnostic only means that you don't believe that it is knowable. Atheist/theist is an issue of whether you believe in God, regardless of whether you think it's knowable. You can be a gnostic theist, a gnostic atheist, an agnostic theist, an agnostic atheist, or an agnostic who doesn't lean either way. That's why I call myself an agnostic atheist: I don't believe that it's ultimately knowable, but I'm fairly sure there's no God.

Huh, thanks for clearing it up. I was going off what I've been told by family, who I assumed was correct based on the fact that my aunt was a religious studies major :x So... yeah.
Thanks for correcting me though. ^-^

Thanks, you explained it better than I could, and I really didn't feel like getting into an argument over it.

But the sad thing is that I do not think many of them are actually gay or bi, like most women who kiss other women on screen are simply gay for pay.

Yeah I can't imagine many American guys doing that, although I think younger generations of actors would be more willing to try. Or so I can hope. :D

Write in to your network of choice saying that you would like to see two boys kissing. Sign your letter as from "Mary-Sue" or whatever. Join the fight!

...or just watch porn. Boys kiss in that all the time.
There are actually tons of gay kisses on television, it's just that no one makes a big deal out of them so you don't ever notice/see them.
And I'm pretty sure the past 4 or 5 episodes of Family Guy and American Dad have been Seth McFarlane's gay fantasies. He's just not even trying to hide it anymore.

Pfft, boys kissing on normal television is way better than porn. Unless you're just trying to get your rocks off, of course

Fair enough. Is it weird that the animated version of Ryan Reynolds got me all hot and bothered?
