Is this normal or should I be doing something to make the wrists/grip stronger? you should be working grip/wrist strength anyway. try doing some deadlifts with the grips in the same direction and just do more sets of low reps. My real suggestion would be to start wokring some high rep kettlebell swings

I weigh about 165 lbs now, which has never been a problem with me in any respect, except that sometimes people tell me I'm skinny. But I've never had a problem with sports or girls, so this is really just vanity talking now. :D I would like more muscle definition, just because I think it looks good on thinner guys. Working out intensively makes my biceps pretty big, but almost literally no other muscle seems to respond. Not even my triceps. What I'm looking for here is input from any other tall male vegetarians, especially if you're genetically pretty thin. No offense, but I tend to find input from shorter guys or meat-eaters to be a little clueless... So let me know if you're like me. ![]() EDIT: By the way, I'm more accurately a "pescetarian," if that's helpful. I eat eggs, dairy products, and all kinds of seafood. I'm in a slightly similar boat. 6'8 and genetically slender and have a terribly uphill battle even gaining a single pound. Since you are okay with dairy; I imagine milk + protein mix would be a step in the right direction but then again I didn't have stellar results. I could knock out ~2-5lbs of protein mix a month and have no change at all; and this was ontop of a nice diet of fats and carbs. I really think that taller frames just have some extra hurdles. ![]() I'm pretty much lurking around for advice and tips as well but find some to be inapplicable.

Quite often when you think you're eating a lot, you're probably not. That or you may be eating the wrong types of foods. It's often really helpful to post an average daily eating schedule and let one of the knowledgeable guys like eshlow show you where you can improve.

Is this normal or should I be doing something to make the wrists/grip stronger? errr...doesn't pain (as far as exercises are concerned) only occur in movements/positions where force is applied to bent wrists? that doesn't seem to be the case when you deadlift. so yeah i'm pretty confused @_@

So it IS more difficult? :X This is going to get wildly expensive ![]() Creatine and protein mix are fairly cheap though... so I guess I'll just really sit down for a week or so and develop a huge freaking diet plan using info in this thread and see how to budget it effectively. It'll be a fun project. :D edit: found this article http://www.stayfitbug.com/the-fitness-bug/building-muscles-for-tall-men-vs-building-muscles-for-short-men/ Which felt a bit bias but the comments seemed to back up the claims o.o I guess the end result will be so worth it ^^

If you can't legitimately trace the food back to its original source, it most likely isn't so good for you. * Food over supplements. Protein powders are OK in helping achieve weight gain, but they are no substitute for good quality food. I personally only use them on training days pre and post workout, but others in this thread may have better tips. As in point one, eat real, quality food first and foremost. Creatine in debatable, but personally I'd save your money and not bother with it. * Learn how to cook (if you can't already). Eating healthy food is great for your body, but it is mostly bland and a bit depressing to eat all the time. I'm no hardcore lifter like many in this thread and I really enjoy my food. There are a lot of things you can still do to make healthy, but often bland food, taste good. If you enjoy what you're eating and not forcing yourself to eat, mealtime will be enjoyable and not a chore. It's also cheaper. * Aim to eat six meals a day minimum. If you're trying to gain max weight, don't stress too much about what your eating (as long as it's real food) -- just keep feeding the engine. edit: from earlier in the thread, this is generally what I eat on a daily basis to maintain around 87-90kgs. Cereal Milk (between 1.5-2 litres depending if it's a training day) Footlong from Subway (try stick to the better ones) 100g tin of Tuna Wholemeal english muffins with chesse/vegemite Steak/Chicken with veg (dinner) Fruits (depending on season) Pancakes or french toast (I have a great, healthy, pancake recipe if anyone wants it). About 3-3.5L water But I'm no saint. I still love Pop Tarts and basically anything with copious amounts of sugar. It's fine to eat a bit of (tasty) crap every now and then; just don't overdo it.
