I think that's what we're all gunning for.
...But I hope this doesn't mean you intend to wait until 2011 to start.
I'm mostly better now, but my stomach still hurts, I still have the runs, and when I woke up today, my throat was completely and totally screwed up. Like, it was completely congested and inflamed. I'm pretty sure I had the flu, which leads me to some inquiries... (These are mostly rhetorical and out of curiosity)
-Was the vitamin D I was taking over the top, or did the high dose help me get over this faster? -Do I have a chronic condition that keeps getting me sick? -Does whiskey mixed with honey and lemon really help cure the flu, or was it something else that helped me get over this?
The world may never know. It feels good to be well again, but god dammit I downright fucking refuse to get sick again. I'm taking every single possible precaution for the rest of winter.

lol at that dim pic..i duno why but for whatever reason it reminds me of kermit the frog.
anyway, i was cruising on the freeway at around 230 in the morning and was drowsy and tired as fuck. but all of that disappeared when i realized this weird sound - i had a freaking flat tire.
when changing tires the norm would be to kick or step on the wrench to loosen the bolt. however, for whatever reason (it was pretty late so i proly wasn't thinking right) i decided to use my hands instead. it was tight as hell but i got those bastards loose.
so i finally replaced the tire and got all the bolts back in place, and it was at that very moment when i realized......THANK GOD I LIFT WEIGHTS! from lifting the flat/spare tire to removing/putting back those bolts, no doubt it made the job so much easier.
merry christmas y'all!

High dose helps get over it faster because it upregulates defensins, cathlicidin and other anti-microbial proteins + t-lymphocytes.
Alcohol may help if it's upper respiratory (e.g. in the back of you throat etc) because alcohol can be used as a disinfectant.
I still think it's pretty odd that you keep coming down with stuff. My concurrent guess is probably the fish oil especially if you're eating pretty clean. Either that or you body is hypersensitive to vitamin D so we'll see what happens when you cut fish oil first.
Also, merry christmas guys.
I'm gonna rewrite the OP and post it up on Jan 1st.

So I just had 2 workout days after 4 months of smoking/drinking my muscles to the point of atrophy. And I feel like a little girl. Major metrics:
Bench: 125 (Set 3 x10) Squat: 175 (Set 3 x10) Leg press: 300 "" Trap-bar deadlift: 185 ""
And right now my muscles ache. Off to the gym again. I have a long way to go to meet the original goals :|

Hmmmm I know it's a bit early but I may as well write down what I'm doing. Forget about it, and then in a year have a look if I'm improving.
Currently. Benching 85kg 3x8 Deadlift 120kg 3x8 Squat 150kg 3x7
I'll completely forget about this thread, someone remind me in a year please

Or you could not forget about this thread and it could be your "accountability" partner to make sure you are continuously improving.
And your deadlift should probably be higher than you squat, and you should probably do less volume on deadlift.

Probably... but I'm not a focused weightlifter. I'm much more interested in my MMA and cardio. To be honest I'm not even that bothered about deadlifting, I've been cutting the amount I lift for a while now.

i think 13 lbs in 3 months seems fair not really interested in bulking up or anything, just losing the extra weight, is my plan fine or should i be doing more in terms of gym time?

Most MMA fighters (the successful ones at least) Do a LOT of weight training.

Lifting weights will increase your metabolic rate making it easier to burn calories and lower your bodyfat. Combine this with the nutrional information in the OP and some HIIT and you can easily lose 1-2 pounds a week depending on what kind of composition you're starting with.

sounds good, read through the information in the OP and seems pretty good. Once i cut out all those mac n cheese and ramen lunches i should be on track nutritionally . I'll also set up an appointment with a trainer since its free through my school, im assuming that he/she'll be able to help me set up a good workout schedule specified to my goals/bodytype.

True to an extent, I've been doing MMA for a couple of years intensively now. I regularly train with some guys in the UFC, most from the UK. Weight training isn't their primary focus, and the stuff they do is very different from mass gain and muscle building to be honest. Obviously strength is an aspect of MMA, but it's more explosive strength particularly from the legs. I mean barely any of us train biceps or anything, not that you even mentioned them, just an example
|
Bicep curls are used in body building not weight lifting. And there is no better exercise than to train explosive strength then olympic weightlifting.
|
Which is why you should do lots of explosive and core lifts, clean & jerk, snatch, deads, squats combined with plyos/HIIT and your fighting work to increase your speed, strength, power, conditioning and improve your central nervous system. Obviously you don't want to put on weight and size is not a goal when you're training to fight, so adjust your reps/frequency/weights/diet accordingly.
|
you know there is weight training for strength right?
