though it might be impossibly hard if ur using fingers pointing back i dunno

OK, I gotta ask a question here.

Is it just me, or is powerlifting the most ridiculous sport in the world? Obviously power lifters are ridiculously good athletes, but there's something about a guy doing a sumo squat barely at parallel depth and then getting credit for it that bothers me. Anything that involves a whole one foot of motion, regardless of how heavy it is, just seems like a huge waste to me. It's more about how much you can get away with than how much you can actually lift.

On top of that, you have all the gear--the squat uniforms, the bench shirts, the belts, the wraps, and so on. You also have power lifters who necessarily have to have screwed up limb length in order to compete.

Olympic lifting is just a much more appealing sport to me. Taking 230kg and then clean and jerking it--putting it above your fucking head--is just a lot more impressive to me than bench pressing 340 kilograms with a range of 9 inches and a bench shirt that requires 3 people to put on.

Yeah i definitely agree. I'll be damned if i ever start sumo squatting in a bunch of gear that lets me do a shit ton more weight then i would ever be able to. I draw the line at a belt, maybe some wraps. I like doing my lifting in a way that is complete and helps me become a better athlete not just get up huge numbers. I look forward to progressing in olympic lifts as well as powerlifting.

Haha you have no idea...i wish there were 12 days in a week so i could get huge and play rugby at the same time. But once season ends i'm eating 4-5k a day and putting in a shit ton of work...looking to get HUGE

No doubt its a great feat, but I do prefer raw or belt only type stuff.

it just tires your arms out less if you switch back and forth so your grip doesn't fail as easily

personally, i don't even switch arms, i've read that you don't really get any imbalances if you always do it a certain way

It's harder for the bar to roll out of your hands if you use a mixed grip. It would be especially bad if the bar rolled in the direction of your shins.

I think the book made an indication that both were equally good. I'm pretty sure the claim is made that the double overhand helps build grip strength while the alternating grip will facilitate heavier deadlifts.

Hi a question for you fitness buffs: I'm dressing up as ryu from streetfighter for halloween, which is in 18 days. I exercise regularly playing tennis and varsity badminton, but I could eat more healthily. DO i have enough time to build up visible pecs and abs for my costume in 18 days?
