for hands back manna i put my hands in the right spot, fingers mostly back and managed to lift up and hold into a tuck (just trying to build strength in my arms/shoulders for it)
the thing is, this feels like INTENSE pressure on my wrists. I'm not a pussy and I didn't think it was actually going to hurt them so i held it anyways but it felt like if there was too much pressure like my wrists would just freaking snap, lol. is this normal? is it just cuz my wrists are too tight?
You're trying to lean back instead of push the hips forward.
Focus on pushing the hips forward really hard (or alternatively driving your PALMS backwards). This forces the hips up and out, and makes you lean back less....
It's just like hands forward planche... you lean too much it hurts. Except with planche you need to lean forward. Manna you don't have to lean back much

Gym finally re-opened and I got to work with barbells for the first time, I think DBs must be a lot harder because I moved up 15 lbs on my bench and squat, bench was pretty tough but I hit all the reps, squat felt pretty easy (the auxiliary gym only had dumbbells up to 60 so I was stuck at 120 for a couple workouts). I'm at 115 lb bench and 135 squat now (bodyweight 134).
this is the right splits to be doing to help with manna / straddle during front lever, right?
if so, im kinda confused as to why it's called "straddle" front lever but "middle split hold" when they both use the same kind of flexibility
the whole straddle/middle split thing confuses me in general actually
Dunno. Straddle-L is named for hands in front hold though... so they can't call it straddle hold or anything.
Not sure what I would call it if I was naming it. It's a pretty weird position, especially if you try to transition it straddled with the hips pushed forward.
And yes, that is the correct flexibility. German hangs/shoulder flex + straddle split

Having a spotter makes benching entirely different. It's not just the fact that you don't have to worry about injury, but that it gives you a psychological advantage. I've had 5th reps that I thought I'd NEVER bust out, but I fought for it with my spotter there and was able to get it. Everybody benches better with a spotter.
Go get one. If you have to ask someone at the gym to spot you, ask someone at the gym to spot you. The people who work there should be willing to help.
If you're working out at home alone ... well, good luck. Invite a buddy over to help you out.
I pretty much agree with this. I don't need the psychological advantage as much (I think I can pretty much, psychologically, get through anything) as much as preventing an injury. I don't use spotters for anything else (Squat, whatever) because I can get out of it. For some reason I don't think I can get out of a bar falling from above me in time haha
oh and Im not on SS, somewhat a variation.
Also, I have a question about my wrist on the bench press for you experts. My left wrist is always bent backwards; no matter how hard I try, my right wrist stays straight, and my left wrist bends back. Even today when I was doing only 70kg on the bench (after resetting from 88kg), my damn left wrist kept bending back. What is the solution for this? Should I just wrap it as hard as I can?
I don't know how you bench, but most people that have this problem rest the bar against the top of their hand (by the start of the fingers) instead, your bar is supposed to rest at the bottom (Palm I guess) of your hand. Try that and let me know how it works. Look at the benching video I posted on pg 126
~ So yesterday I went to my university's gym for the first time. And I went lifting with a bunch (two lol)of buddies. They stuckwith my for the first few BB shrugs but once I went to rows they ditched and went to work on their show muscles (biceps, chest) haha. along with a few dozen crunches I think. I finished my back and was too tired to do my biceps, so looks like today im doing cardio (1/2 mile), abs, and biceps. :\ Damn. lol
And man, those German Hangs/Manna or whatever that stuff is (gymnastic stuff I presume?) looks crazy haha
Being an insomniac sucks, only 3 hours of sleep last night I felt so weak but still managed 85 kg squats and 50 kg bench 2x5. Didn't dare to try the last set, I felt so dizzy and now I got a headache as well. Gonna take some rest now and hopefully I will get some sleep tonight. Will have to find a site with recipes, I'm such a bad cook lol.
started new job today. cleaning dishes/metal trays/pots as fast as yu can for 7 hours straight without cessation? i dont give myself very long to survive honestly this is a new meaning of hardcore
was exhausted but thought i should man up and go to gym. ended up shouting at a random guy "IM FINISHED ON HERE NOW" when it wasnt him who asked for my bench. he was like wtf? also started taking some weights off a guy's bar as he was getting ready to lift it. tired in gym = lollerments
squat 50 (+2.5) bpress shit leg raise 3x11
3 mins tanning booth
why do i wake up like 2-4 hours after sleeping even when im INSANELY TIRED BEYOND BELIEF? is it becoz i need to pee?? i always pee before sleeping. its really bothersome lately
like tonight i was beyond belief tired, felt soooo good to sink into nothingeness. had milk and chocolate and peed before bed. slept at 8.30pm woke up at 12.30am
Managed to get someone to teach me power Cleans today. Arrgh they are so tough to learn. By the end I managed to figure out how to do a half decent one, unfortunately, I kept on landing on my toes/leaning forward for awhile so my knees are kinda hurting.
Did do 145 with slightly more comfort today. It was tough. Didn't "stall" but I think I might do a third day of it just to be safe. Feeling iffy right now if I can actually do 150lbs.
Press went up :D.
Just a note for the big guys here. Hearing your ridiculous numbers and stories is suprisingly encouraging. Please don't stop :D
Another pr today! 100kgx2 behind the neck jerks. :D I surprisingly did not miss any but had plenty of crappy lifts haha. Started doing dumbbell rows, trying to get my upper body strength up.
