I personally try to give the other players some explanation of why I'm pausing or at least how long this will take. It's not the pausing that gets to me, it's when I need to take a piss and someone pauses so they can take a piss without calling the piss-break.

When my stack wants to pick heroes we play CM. When we don't we play AP and mostly random with 1 or 2 picks to make the lineup somewhat useable.
Basically, hero pickers are dirty scumbags (lol not really).

Everyone do not have that brain capacity. 0 - 8 - 3 SF who fed OD mid takes aegis right under my manta, diff 2, drums, halfway to hearth PL. They have scouted our rosh, I call it, SF runs straight into their woods and gets stomped 1vs5. Now we have to fight, we fight, it ends in a poor exchange for us(i die) and they rax us and eventually throne us. GG. If i had aegis we'd win that fight(it wouldn't even had happened) convincingly.

OK guys, quiz time. You're jungling LD, suddenly the safelane carry abandons and the game is 4vs5. There's a HUGE advantage for your team (11-2 at 7 minutes), do you:
a) Take the safelane farm role
b) Stay in the jungle, go for a midgame oriented build and rape faces
c) Stay in the jungle, go for a midas-> maelstorm build and wreck things
or d) stay in the jungle, go for a double midas build and afk farm a Radiance at 30 fucking minutes, effectively letting your teammates play a 3vs5 game when they're Mirana, NS, SD
the thing that's fucking killing me is that at the end of the (rather close) game, he blamed the guy leaving. It's not his fault that we lost. He can't fucking see the reason that going for a MIDAS-> MIDAS-> RADIANCE AT 30 MINUTES while we 3vs5 lost us the game.

You talk about him being a man-child and immature because he doesn't agree with you, yet you are the one acting out petty revenge in your games. As a self-proclaimed grown up you do have to realize spare time is a precious thing for many, and that many people would rather play 4v5 for a couple of minutes than wait for in many cases avoidable or unnecessary pauses.

I am not required to agree with him or respect his opinion and he admits it is a douchey thing to do. Also, that's not the discussion. One is all about "me, me, me, me, my fun, my time, its all about me" and the other is about "I don't unpause because its not a nice thing to do. I want everyone to play at their best and have a legit win." Its not about him pausing for me.
And once someone have proven to be a dick and I tell them not to and they do it anyways, I deal with them as such. Life is hard like that, people treat you as you act.

I really don't understand the logic behind immediately unpausing in a Dota game. I mean I can sort of get the logic when it's in a game like Starcraft where at least you get points so you can tell yourself "I'm an ass but at least I'm higher on the ladder and thus, a better player right ?"..... but in dota 2 ? WTF are you doing it for ? You queued to play a game and a game is 5v5. You get absolutely nothing by playing a 5v4, it's pointless.
Recently there are also these people that unpauses even if the reason is rock solid on the basis that "he didn't dc". I literally had someone in one of my games, repeatedly unpaused and said the guy wasn't dc'ed. I told one of my mates to DC so we get 30 extra seconds. He unpauses, then pauses again and says, and I shit you not "sorry didn't see SF was dc". I mean are you fucking serious ?

I think I just played the worst game I've ever played before skillwise. Went mid invoker vs skywrath and got absolutely slaughtered. Why I kept going back to mid to die is a question I can't answer myself. I should have abandoned the lane. I did try to go for ganks tho, but got counterganked instead easily. The problem is that I had to resort to warding myself, even though we had 2 supports that just couldn't be arsed to do it themselves.
and, the, constant, whine, all, the, fucking, time. Not once did anyone try to gank anywhere except me. Not once did anyone else but me buy wards. Not once did anyone tp to stop the constant tower divings. And the usual "report invo plz. go uninstal life lol back to pacman" throughout the entire game..in allchat.

I can never believe it when your own team unpauses. I had a brief minor emergency pop up during a game. Asked for a pause and hit the button. Went away. Two or three minutes tops and dealt with it. Came back...one of my own team had hit unpause and we'd lost a fight in the meantime. Seriously...I can understand it if people pause and just say nothing, you have no idea whats going on. And I can even understand the other team wanting to be a bit dickish and play the "pause/unpause" fighting game with your team. But why the hell would you want to screw over your OWN TEAM by unpausing when they're not there unless its been like...5-10 minutes with no word? Because fuck pauses. Every. Single. Game. It feels like someone needs to pause, most of the time for something stupid (teammate didnt pick a hero, pause plz). I unpause no matter what team im on . Yea its sorta douchy to people who have a legitimate unforseen reason but whatever. I'm impatient and 99% of the time its shit that should have taken care of before queuing up. Yeah, being an grown ass adult and having a girlfriend who lives with me, you are pretty much the Duke of DoucheLand. If she needs to ask me a question or is leaving, I will pause the game for 30 seconds to a minute to say goodbye or answer the question. And sometimes shit happens. Other people have lives, wives, children and all sorts of other things. A bit of a douche and if you were on my team and did that, I might forget to buy wards a couple times in response. But, lucky for me, I only play in 5 man stacks. Yes because unpausing means I dont have a girlfriend and Im not an adult. Are you one of those people who thinks unpausing is reportable under ability abuse? Its not anyone's obligation to wait for ur stuff. I dont expect 9 other people to wait because my gf calls me. Its a courtesy, not something ur entitled to Exactly, its a courtesy that we give fellow players out of respect and understanding that unexpected things come up and we want everyone to have a good game. Its a nice thing to do. And I assume because you are unwilling to do it for me that you do not respect me and feel no need to be nice. So in return, I will treat you in kind. You are freely entitled to be a dick and I will never report you for it. However, I will treat you like the dick that you are. Life is hard like that. and I consider it courtesy for other people not to waste my time with their personal things. I don't unpause for everything. If someone says "sec, shop's bugged I need to restart" then obviously I'll wait, but "sec, my gf wants a goodbye kiss" or "sec, pizza guy's here" isn't a good enough reason for me. I really don't understand impatient people who play dota. Dota is, by definition, a game requiring patience. For goodness' sakes, if you die at a high level you can end up spending whole minutes on the sideline. If you can't wait a couple of extra minutes at the start, you might want to reconsider your preferred genre. I play dota because it's fun. In game moments requiring patience and passivity are part of the game. Waiting for people's random shit isn't fun, and that sort of patience isn't part of the game. Yeah, waiting around for a minute or two so someone can take care of something unexpected is just part of real life. Its not fun, but we sometimes have to do not fun stuff in life for a minute because we are nice people. Its called being a polite adult, not a self important man-child. What do you think people do when they play pick up basket ball and one of their girlfriends or children needs to talk for a minute? Keep on playing and throw the ball at the back of the guy’s head until he plays? Seriously, this discussion is tired. Nothing your saying is incorrect, its just childish. There is no way in person that you would just charge ahead if someone said “Can you please wait a minute? I have to do BLANK.” But through the internet, where at the other end can do nothing, of course you act like it all about you and your fun. So you are entitled to do it, but it still makes you an asshole. You talk about him being a man-child and immature because he doesn't agree with you, yet you are the one acting out petty revenge in your games. As a self-proclaimed grown up you do have to realize spare time is a precious thing for many, and that many people would rather play 4v5 for a couple of minutes than wait for in many cases avoidable or unnecessary pauses. I am not required to agree with him or respect his opinion and he admits it is a douchey thing to do. Also, that's not the discussion. One is all about "me, me, me, me, my fun, my time, its all about me" and the other is about "I don't unpause because its not a nice thing to do. I want everyone to play at their best and have a legit win." Its not about him pausing for me. And once someone have proven to be a dick and I tell them not to and they do it anyways, I deal with them as such. Life is hard like that, people treat you as you act.
Taking pausing for granted is just as much about "me, me, me" as indiscriminate unpausing. Not being able to collaborate with people you disagree with even more so.

I take pausing for granted because I pause myself for other people. Shit's gonna happen when people will need a pause, that's why it's fucking there. If you don't want to pause that's ok but don't act like you're justified.
