Bloodseeker comes to gank for our lane. And sits in the tree line long enough for his enemy mid to get 4 levels on him.

I don't understand, how come I never play against teams that have no idea what they're doing and hand out free wins? I know people like to say that playing with stupid people is a reflection on yourself, but I only got the game a few months ago, actually spent time reading, learning, and practicing, only to have no ability to impact the game on my own. There should be some kind of placement match system so you don't always have to start at the bottom of the barrel and hope you get enough lucky games to move up the mmr ladder. Every new player to DotA says this. "I get the bad team every game", "If I had a better team I would do better", etc. I have said these so many times to myself. The whole thing about pub DotA is that you have to judge the situation and skill levels of EVERYONE and not expect the optimal performance from your teammates. Once you learn to recognize mistakes (you say you are a new player so this might be awhile) in others play you will be able to take advantage of those. Trust me, the enemy players will be on average just as bad as your teammates, sometimes you get really bad feeders in all games but this is just part of DotA. Some really great players will queue when tired or stressed and just play poorly and there are of course thousands of shit players. Try and pick heroes that can heavily impact the game. If your team needs a mid some great heroes that are really mobile and can semi-carry a team to victory on ganks are heroes like Puck, QoP and Storm Spirit, even Doom. If your team needs supports, abuse the meta-game and pick the strongest stuff right now like Nyx, KoTL, Lina. If your team can run a solo lane you can jung up a fast Mek on Prophet or fast blink on Enigma. Gyrocopter is a great carry in pubs because he can still have huge presence in fights if he's underfarmed with just Phase/Drums/BKB because of the nature of his hero and if you do get good farm he solos teams. Sand King, Windrunner and BH are all great solo offlaners that can impact the game heavily. Dark Seer can offlane or jungle and get a lot of gold no matter what, and Vacuum and Surge are spells that are MADE for saving pub games. Omniknight can really hard counter pick a lot of stupid pub comps as well and is devastating in a few pub combos (Huskar/Omni, Enigma/Omni and Ursa/Omni are the famous ones for free BKB) All of these heroes reward high skill and big plays and allow you to directly affect the flow of the game, while all having room in their builds for things like wards if your teammates absolutely will not buy them if you aren't support. Overall my biggest advice is just play better though. Just constantly be analyzing and watching and try and take the actions that will impact the game the most. If no one is defending towers ping them and ask for TPs to defend, look at your map, always carry TPs yourself, deny towers, plant wards, buy dust vs riki and pl, be aware of everything, ping runes every 2 minutes, ping when you see ganks incoming, call miss for lanes that arent calling it, look at your map, gank other lanes, farm harder, LOOK AT THE MAP Nice utopia mate, but you know just aswell as everyone else here that this just doesn't apply 100%. You can be the god amongst noobs but it is a game you play with 4 other players. Even if the enemy is terribad they will eventually overcome your godhood if your team insists on feeding and doing nothing to help. 1v5 doesn't work out for most of the games, unfortunately, or I would've won a lot more games ^^ He's completely right though. Playing Viper safelane (someone else called mid dont recall who, didnt rly care). Had a Magnus as support. See him pulling at :40 - obviously failing. I tell him to pull at 45/46 and before he pulls to stack at 53. He asks me to show him how - I do.
We lose (overall outplayed etc etc). Magnus "Report viper, he noob"

Overall my biggest advice is just play better though. Just constantly be analyzing and watching and try and take the actions that will impact the game the most. If no one is defending towers ping them and ask for TPs to defend, look at your map, always carry TPs yourself, deny towers, plant wards, buy dust vs riki and pl, be aware of everything, ping runes every 2 minutes, ping when you see ganks incoming, call miss for lanes that arent calling it, look at your map, gank other lanes, farm harder, LOOK AT THE MAP Yes yes i hear you but this is the QQ thread, if we followed this we can't QQ anymore cause it will be always our fault You can QQ about other stuff than "OMG MY TEAM IS SO SHIT" (which is almost every post here). Lol, I think you're missing the whole point of the venting QQ thread.... Admitedly a lot of the thread consists of unadulterated team blaming, but I'm not sure that's the "point" of the thread, I think it propagates an attitude that is toxic for player improvement. There is a difference between telling a hilarious story about a teammate who denies your bear from 50%, and just posting "matchmaking broken, i only get shit teams, quitting game". +1

Hence the need for a carthsis type venting thread, where everyone can engage in some Dunning-Kruger style bitching!
Plus, 1/5th of the time you probably are going to be legitimately dragged down by some hella retarded play. People just forget to include the 1/5th of the time they are the ones that fuck the game....

Our team doing good, despite our Clinkz never doing anything despite farming. Buy Rapier 40 mins into the game, feeds it solo to Sylla, proceed to lose game, where we had 2 rax. Clinkz final score was exactly 0-1-0. Nuff said...

Something seriously wrong with matchmaking, 6 minutes in, max search range and can't get a game. Also had 3 in a row where people disced before it started. Very weird with almost 300000 online.

Because I at least think, well they are a duo, I am sure they get some kind of OP combo going...but no...no...won't happen.
Oh sorry, I do that often with friends heh heh. I have a couple of friends who are still learning and often I'll lane with them so I can keep an eye on them (not that I'm amazing myself). Usually I'll play a carry or semi-carry because they like to play supports, but supporting is really the role I'm more comfortable with as well so sometimes we end up losing pretty hard...

I don't think I'm fit to play the 1/2 roles. Just never turns out well.
theoratically, who should win in a 1v1 mid - Drow or SF?

drow pre level 5. seriously depends on the blocks though. If sf gets a good block i can see him just thrashing drow. Same with drow.

I played the stupidest game of dota last night.
I'm queuing with 3 other friends, and while I'm not terribly good myself, I'm a lot better than they are. Randomed NS, and ended up dominating. First night was pretty bad (4-3) but 2nd night was great, and after the third night the game was over. We got mega creeps at about the 40 minute mark.
But then the game just didn't end. They grouped up as 5 in front of the ancient, and just started do farm creeps. I couldn't do anything anymore. There was a sniper with mkb that couldn't be ignored, but if I ran in deep enough to get him, viper+riki made sure that I couldn't stay long enough to kill him. The rest of the team was an ES (worthless, but can't really blame him for that), WR (worthless), weaver (able to do a little, but died far more frequently than you would expect a weaver with a linken's and aiges to), and an NP (worthless and a fucking masochist. He was the one person not in our group. At the 70 minute mark of this game he is 3-6 and has a midas, desolater and shadow blade. I don't understand how someone can actively decide to pick a hero, then play him in a way that participates in so few teamfights, and gets so little farm, and still want to play dota). So the game just went on, where we are unable to attack them because they have a better team, but if they leave their base with more than 1 hero, they will lose the ancient. My dota bugs out, so from the 65 minute mark on, there is a full second delay between clicking and the character reacting, and the screen has a permanent haze around it that was an artifact of the dead screen.
we eventually do win at the 85 minute mark, a full 40 minutes after the lat rax fell. I'm not sure if it was a bug, or if valve has an auto time out for these kind of things, but as a final kick to the dick, no one got items, and no one even got experience.
