What I actually end up playing is roughly 60% support, 30% mid, 10% side lane farmer (0% solo offlane). Because either the team reliably either picks 5 carries, doesn't pick a mid, or whoever shows up to the same lane as I do wants all the last hits.

The sad part is my support shadow shaman somehow manages to perform significantly worse than my support gyro... as if getting my lane 3-ish kills and taking 2 towers within 3 minutes of hitting 6 is less important than leeching XP until 6 and dropping a calldown in every fight.

just lost 100 mmr points.. the hardest part was the last game... i managed to organize a liv1 smoke gank, me and mirana dominate our lane, then i watch the score and we are 8 to 1 for the other team... that was quite depressing...

Just played the stupidest shit of my life. My friend and I random Jakiro and WD, and that cues our team to try to lose before we get to play. Two guys hover over AM and Dusa, the third guy picks Slark. I tell Am and Dusa that if they pick those heroes we are going to lose because a Jakiro and WD can't 3v5 for 45 minutes. Dusa tells me it's fine because "I'm a good Dusa" and tells me I'm bad for crying about our team picking the absolute worst shit in the world.
So I gank bot at level one and we kill, then I don't know what to do with myself for the rest of the game. Dusa loses hard to TA but won't let me lane with him because I'd slow his xp. You know what else slows your xp? Giving the opponent every deny and losing your lane hardcore. Well, looks like it's up to Slark to snowball.
After he missed the creepwave to load his guide, he sat under tower all game. The other lane was pushing to the river and he still stayed out of xp range. No last hits. No movement. Either his ping was 10000000 or he had just installed this game.
After Dusa went bottom and initiated a three man feed, I just left. Only game I have ever played where my allies were so batshit stupid I didn't even bother to stick it out

I fucking hate it when teams suicide on Roshan. Yes, I know the other team just got Roshan. Yes, we were all running to him hoping they wouldn't finish in time, but they DID. SO WHY THE FUCK DO YOU JUMP IN. WHY. IT ALWAYS ENDS BADLY.

There absolutely fucking has to be MMR inflation. 4.6, and I second pick zeus (I like that hero, what can I say....). Forced to go position five by team picks, and a wr that forced herself mid. I fucking hate people sometimes. Game was the most retarded I've played in a long time.
And icing on the cake is that it may be my last game of the night because servers offline.

Captains draft. Instant pick captain picks an awful team.
I pick the mid hero (sniper) figuring if I go mid I can at least carry us to victory.
Captain threatens to feed unless he gets sniper and can go mid. Fine.
He constantly talks on the mic about every little thing going on 'aw i almost got that last hit. damn he keeps using missle what does it cost 0 mana'. He makes us pause for 10 minutes while he fixes his lag. Feeds 0-3 complaining about lag, ends up leaving and abandoning.
Great game.
Had time for two games today, the first was another CD where the guy who picked naga apparently thought her ult was a stun and turned every teamfight into a victory for the enemy. Could not farm at all. We literally would have won if he had been afk in base the whole game, but he turned it into a loss.
Was looking forward to some fun in the second game. Dota is not the game for a reliable fun experience =(

FUCK. Another bad game.
Player picks SF offlane. Goes into enemy jungle chasing a hero above the mid tower (iunno how the fuck he got that far, or why he was even there in the first place), ES AA and the mid ember all converge on him, and kill him for first blood. Somehow my fault mid as zeus for "not controlling ember".
SF goes back to top. Chases AA past top rune spot (the dire jungle part of the river right behind the small camp) while contesting defensive trilane pull. ES, AA, and ember all converge and take the free kill.
Somehow "my fault" again.
This continues the entire. fucking. game.
Honestly this dude was the most dunning-kruger I have ever seen.

Playing sven safelane tri against a DS. Ion shell is annoying as hell to farm under, but still manage to get a respectable 6 minute midas and we manage to kill DS a couple times. Could be worse. Suddenly middle zeus against tinker, our offlane bh wanders into the mid lane at half health. Double kill for tinker, first blood. Tinker has 8 minute BoTs, immediately TP's to my lane and starts marching. Game ends with 0-9-1 bh on the offlane and a 2-13 mid zeus or something. "Sven learn how to last hit".

Crystal Maiden starts with a Glove of Haste and a clarity, goes jungle and gets Brown boots > bracer > bracer > Midas, comes out at 25mn and blames Lion for not supporting well.

You're overestimating the importance of a ranked game. Which is your choice of course, but it will just set you up for a lot of frustration and disappointment in the long run. Especially if you're frustrated by minor things like randoming heroes or playing unconventional roles.
Playing ranked doesn't mean you're playing a "more serious" mode. It only means you want the game to show you what your MMR is rather than keep it hidden. That doesn't make a ranked game any less casual than an unranked game, or rather any less casual than games were before MMR was introduced.
Ultimately it's still a pub game, which means it's just a drill for your individual skill and game sense. Everything goes, including playing a Radiance Treant or randoming Meepo.
