I've recently started trading for some stuff...got a few questions.
Does random <rarity> item, always imply thrash items? like omni/wd/axe stuff? Cause this seems to be the case in a lot of places.
Also some traders seem to hoard ..any thing of a higher rarity, what is the use of that? Most of them offer a key for a certain number of rares..but what do they do with all the axe stuff tthey get lol. At the same time a lot of traders wont touch axe/omni things and will straight ban you if you offer them that stuff.

Rarity does not always implies that the item is trash.
A common item might worth a few rare depending on its novelty. Like common items from new qop or dk set are tradeable for 2-3 rares right now, but will drop overtime.
The reverse is also valid. Some legendary items (like speed demon=2k) and mythical (like greevils 3=1k) are almost worthless
Most traders are hoarders because complete sets are marketable. A full rare set can be traded directly for keys or mythical items while the individual items cannot.

Random item is trash pretty much always, cause people can give anything they give trash.
The reason for gathering high rarity items is that you can use them as sweets in high-lvl trades (trades including keys, GGs etc.) and also the set stuff that the guy above me pointed out.

Pages 2 and 4 of my inventory in tf2b contain the stuff I am looking to trade for the weaver stuff, page 2 stuff I can trade multiple of same rarity and page 4 mostly 1:1. Besides that I do trade some of my sets (not CM or
SK sets).
Offers by PM or by steam friend invite, I do also trade stuff from my inventory for keys and for some other items.
