o yea p6 noted this when we played together yesterday. witch doctor has treads for some reason. i'm fairly certain brown boots or mana boots are what you want in most cases

WD is one of the heroes who can build basicly any boots except maybe phase boots.

brown/mana/tranqs/treads, its too game dependent to make guide for it.

I think treads are just overall fine to get more hp

it's funny cuz valve's default recommendation is phase and i think phase are probably the boots of choice for the rare wd mid...

the build suggests treads after aghs anyway, which is knid of weird? considering how late you get aghs you should be looking to other support items (glimmer, force), bkb, or even travels at that point... all of which take precedence over the 9 str from treads and the almost totally worthless 25 as

Valve's recommended items for that hero predate Tranquil Boots, iirc. Back then Phase filled the niche that Tranqs took up since then.

the new phase boots are decent for initiating with stun if your team has no one else but id still rather have mana boots/tranquils/brown boots instead of phase/treads

I'm in the middle of testing Slark (Lane). Initially I had terrible mana sustain problems - I have all the HP sustain I want, but Dark Pact casts are the limiter on my farm. However, I discovered that using Int treads helps some, and perfect tread switching lets me, erm, tread water while clearing camps. Verdict: Either the item description for Power Treads should mention putting it in Int mode while farming with Dark Pact, or there should be a small mana regen item in Situational (Urn?).

Also, Slark is one of the few heroes for whom I think Extension Moon Shard deserves a listing. He makes good use of both the attack speed (racking up two extra Essence Shifts during each Pounce leash) and the extra night vision (better than Night Stalker, good for shadow blade pickoffs).
