Headset won't work and nothing i find is helping

Hi, I just bought a new Steelseries Siberia 200 headset, and it is not recognized by my pc and so it won't play audio. Nothing is wrong with the headphone's hardware, I have tested it on my laptop.

I also checked this site and others in hope of a solution, but i found NOTHING. I have tried every single thing i could find, but nothing worked. I tried updating my driver, but it said that I already had the latest drivers. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it from REALTEK, but nothing changed. Does anyone have a clue what to do?

Have you tried downloading the Steelseries Engine ?

what do you see in Device Manager?

Does it register as an "Unknown Device"? or as a headset?

the steelseries engine does not recognize this headset because it isn't driver based, and it registers them as "speakers" and i can mark it as default (if i deactivate my monitor's sound) but it will not play any sounds. all drivers say that they are fully updated and in the device manager, none are marked with the yellow mark

Ah, my bad..

Since you have tested the headset on another PC, are you able to test any other headset/earplugs on your PC? (you probably did, but I don't see it in your story). Could be possible your audio-jack on your PC just isn't working correctly.

i don't have any other headsets, so maybe, but it does recognize the jack, so i don't think the port is broken, and the pc is only like a couple of months old bw

It's good that you mention that it is new. You may have a DOA motherboard in that case.
Recognizing the jack does not automatically mean that it is able to produce an output, however it is indeed peculiar.

Don't you have any earplugs (phone earplugs do the trick as well), so that you can make sure your audio jack is able to produce something? Testing this part is key.

To make sure, try to download your motherboards (audio) drivers (it will probably include the audio driver you already have, but there's a chance it will work). If that doesn't work, I'm afraid your motherboard may be faulty.

Are you able to produce any sound from the computer through USB or something?

im testing out the driver thing right now but like can i fix a faulty motherboard myself or should i get a proffesional?

well i just screwed myself and created another problem (don't let me near this advanced stuff im an idiot) basically i deleted a driver by accident (my mouse is wrecked and old and so it double clicks whenever i click once) and deleted nvidia virtual audio device wave extensible and now there is no sound at all, how do i install that again ?

Search for the name of your motherboard, go to the website and download audio driver from there. You shouldn't need any nvidia stuff AFAIK unless you're doing something like using the graphics card connection to play audio through your monitor

ok so i fixed the problem through some hassle. I took the cowards way out and reset the pc to manufacturer default. when i then looked at the drivers i saw no nvidia stuff in the audio, so i suspect that the nvidia drivers that were being used was the culprit. like i don't even know how they got installed in the first place, it just seems so odd.
