Cheapest SC2 PC

So right now i have an excellent pc. Sadly im gonna have to sell it due to some monetary issues. But id still like to have somewhat something to do when im home.

So the only thing I want this new PC to do is surf internet, watch hd videos, and play LoL and SC2. My SC2 settings are not even high, take a look at the picture. Its basically all settings low but shaders(and shadows which are linked toguether). Also monitor will be 1366x768p maybe even run into 720p. So basically lowest settings and low resolution, meaning not much gpu power needed

So the cheapest thing I can get here (due to availability and high taxes): an AMD APU A4-6300 with an MSI A55M-E33 mobo with 8gbs ram.

I think it should run at 30+ fps right ? i found this video of dota gameplay with that and for the cost of it it seems pretty resonable and decent playabilities.

What are your toughts?

Sc2 is very demanding on CPU and singlethreaded performance. You should try to get a 4'th gen Intel CPU, core count etc doesn't matter. Even a g3220 (dual core Haswell @3ghz) with it's weak integrated graphics should be usable i think for low resolution and settings, while keeping much higher FPS in battles than any AMD CPU.

Yeah i think you are right about the g3220. Didnt even realize that was an option, for some reason i was thinking there was no comparison with the intel int graphics. Now i just realized i have a HD4600 within my i7 in my current pc, so i will try out tomorrow.

HD4600 is significantly stronger than the igpu in the g3220 - but try your game at 1366x768 low settings

Well, i keep making these silly mistakes by reading wrong, lol. So the hd graphics in the g3220... compared to what ?

btw whats the diff between an i3 4160 + igpu vs g3220 + igpu? its double the price, is it worth it ?

the hd4600 is better than what the g3220 has

i3 has hd4400-4600 so maybe worth for igpu gaming, however at that point i would consider a ~gtx750 or a 260x

Sadly here doesnt work like that, a gtx 750 is around $200 alone. I think im just gonna go for the a4-6300, i mean the cheapest setup i can, which is gonna be around $150. If i cant play SC2 comfortably ill just play broodwar and LoL.

A friend played sc2 on like 1080p and medium settings with hd4600 and still got ~60fps. On 768p and low settings that could have been 150 or so. If the pentium graphics were half as fast, who cares - you can still be at >60fps unless you're CPU bound, which would take a lot more units mashing against each other than it would with an a4. You can test it yourself, just see how hd4600 runs on 1366x768 low.
