also yeah CPU bound, not GPU
hmm
i have no idea how you could get bottlenecked with a 4770k with OC. would they have to fiddle with the game engine itself to fix that?

i have no idea how you could get bottlenecked with a 4770k with OC Same way 4770k @5ghz +650ti in sc2 = cpu bottleneck at max settings once you enter midgame 1v1 in sc2, it's just a CPU heavy game that doesn't utilize CPU properly on windows 7

Thanks again, will try out the new drivers tomorrow, along with the PCI-E gen2 change. Will report back in a day or two to see if things are better! Thanks! So after changing PCI-E to gen 2, and installing the newest Nvidia Drivers 331.65, played for 1 hour and had a system freeze, requiring a hard reset. Will be returning to 314.22 since i dont think any other drivers are working for me right now. Also, since im not getting a BSOD, im not sure where to get a crash log, or something like that, even though im preety sure its a driver issue.

Case wise, if you get a motherboard with a USB 3.0 Header then you need a case with USB 3.0 on the front. The cheapest worth recommending is the Core 1000 as you said. For mother boards how do you know if a mobo has usb 3.0 headers? is it the one that says "rear panel ports 2x USB 3.0" ?? also what is the difference between having a USB 3.0 header compared to one tha tjust says it has USB 3.0 ?? what is the difference also between the one thats on the mobo compared to the one thats on the case? EDIT: atm im just buying the best case and mobo for the cheapest price i can find. and for me rght now thats the this mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130731 and the nzxt source 210. but since i read your post i didnt realize that mobo and cases also had compatibility issues other than the mobo being able to fite the formfactor size for a case.

USB3 headers are for the front USB3.0 ports that comes with the case. They're a 20pin header, typically blue and located near the 24pin connector on the motherboard. There is no difference besides the obvious location. The NZXT 210 does not have USB3 ports so having a motherboard with a header is irrelevant and the H81M-P33 doesn't have a header if you're wondering.

A guy wants to buy it, but in two different purchases... He wants to replace his computer ASAP. So two purchases of 500$... Here's what I was thinking Intel Core i5 4670K Unlocked Quad Core 3.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 6MB Cache Retail @239$ Gigabyte B75M-D3H mATX LGA1155 B75 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI HDMI CrossFireX SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard @70$ Corsair Vengeance Blue CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit @ 83$ + case + power supply for about 500$ He gets a functional computer SINCE He will use intergrated GPU from his CPU. He will keep using the old HardDrive with Windows XP!!! He will keep using DVD player He will still use his Mouse + KB + Screen For the second purchase, we will look at a better GPU and other stuff Of course, I'll use PM to lower price (NCIX.ca) Thoughts? Can this work?

So my question is: what would be the best mobo for OC an i5 4670K in 80-130$ range? (excluding MSI, i hate their bioses) (with 2xPCIE slots) Most of the good OC reviews i can find on net use Gigabyte Z87X, Asus Z87 PRO etc, but for me they are too expensive. I really like Gigabyte but I've read one bad review for OC on the more basic Gigabytes Z87 (without X). So i'm quite puzzled on the matter Help appreciated!

You can get it at ME for ~$140.

I've read that Z87-D3HP has (had?) throttling problems, but cant find more info on that. (sorry for hijacking the convo)

GA-Z87-HD3 should work fine for overclocking. The GA-Z87X-D3H apparently uses more parts in its VRM area around the CPU socket if you look at pictures, but I don't know what that does to overclocking potential. I'm pretty sure it won't mean anything. The cheaper board should still stay very cool. GA-Z87MX-D3H is mATX sized and should work alright. You might get it cheaper than the ATX sized boards. It's a bit cramped around the CPU socket if you use a very large air cooler, but 140mm width still fits without hitting the graphics card. You don't have to look at any of the very expensive boards. Z87X-D3H already has everything you may possibly need for anything. No idea about ASUS or ASRock. You should research that. Gigabyte's hardware seems good, but I feel the BIOS quality is suspicious. They take a long time to come out with updates to fix problems so it might be worth it to take a good look at the competition.

The price difference alone means you could spend as much as you need on aftermarket cooler and still come in cheaper lol. 290 CF - stepping in right where the 7950's left off haha.
