My main point of the question was answered by both of you though, which was, is it worth buying a stronger psu if its the same price as a lower psu of the same model even if i dont need the extra psu :D For my build tho, ill be building it slowly, by scraping pats at sales. im mostly waiting till cyber monday / black friday. and than also chrismas sales. i am hoping that my build will be done by the end of christmas. Thank you everyone (especially to you skyR) for putting up with me and my countless stupid questions to this point lol

I used some psu calculators and such, (although the specs i put in wearnt 100% accurate, but got the mobo, cpu, and gpu correct) and recommneded was 414w That's probably an overkill recommendation too (takes a lot to pull 414w)

but im pretty sure i wont be keeping the same rig for 7 years lol. i would like a psu nwo so i wont have to spend another $100 when im upgrading my rig in the future. Then i can keep the same 550w or 650w psu. (and by then i will hopefullly learn how to overclock and SLI/Crossfire, making the higher psu i buy now more efficient for my future build)

Heh, apparently you didn't. You responded to someone else shortly after I posted my question though. So hey, a little help here, a little help there, we'll call it good.

I used some psu calculators and such, (although the specs i put in wearnt 100% accurate, but got the mobo, cpu, and gpu correct) and recommneded was 414w, so i know 450w is enough (like you said :D), than 550w is probably perfect. but i found that the 650 is same price atm, but i was wondering if its just having to much power for my build when im not going to overclock or sli/crossfire. I'd be surprised if you could even draw 300W with your pc (not from the wall ofc).

Around 1000 What is your monitor's native resolution? 1680 x 1050 What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Dota 2, LoL, Crysis 2. Very high settings. What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Nothing. I have a notebook that I will use for non gaming purposes. Do you intend to overclock? No. Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No. Do you need an operating system? Yes. Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? No. If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. No. What country will you be buying your parts in? Canada. If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. N/A This what I've come up with on my own. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1PKMH oops just read previous page, I guess replace the corsair with capstone.

The main problem I see is that you've selected a locked Intel processor with an overclocking motherboard. Either get an i5-4670K so you can overclock (and add an aftermarket heatsink) or get a cheaper B85 motherboard. Other than that, the video card is pretty overkill for your smallish monitor. Hopefully you're planning on a monitor upgrade soon after you build the new computer tower. Otherwise going for a 7950 seems a bit silly.
