I'm looking to get a new mobo and CPU since appearently my CPU is donezo. I think that's all I need since i haven't had any issues with it other than the CPU fan being stupid this year. I prob need a mobo since the PC is 5 years old and i might as well start upgrading it slowly (unless you guys recommend otherwise). Budget for both CPU and mobo would be around $350.
edit: I'm using 1 video card and i'm not OC'ing.
edit2: I'll need new RAM as well right?

That looks good to me, thanks! My old stuff should be compatible with the mobo right? I don't wanna do anything stupid lol.

I dont know what your old stuff is but it should be compatible. What size is your case? What part are you concerned about?

ATX. The connectors for the hard drive are backward compatible no? I was mainly concerned about my PSU but I checked that and it's fine. I guess i'm pulling the trigger on that, thanks again.

Unless you're upgrading from something built 10 years ago, you should be okay regarding drive connections. (SATA has been the standard for awhile now; if you have a wide ribbon cable you might worry but I haven't seen an IDE hard drive in a long time other than the ones I still have for reasons.)

Ugh isn't it kinda hard to re-use a harddrive without doing a fresh reinstall of windows? I'll probably just wait a few weeks and get a new rig. I'll probably use what i was suggested as a base, i'm not sure about my budget yet. Sorry guys for wasting your time, i'll post a build when i'm ready to buy if I need help.

Getting ready for fallout 4...
I have : I5 2500k (CPU) HD 7870 (GPU)
Right now, there's a special for the R9 390 @ 400$ and R9 380 @ 260$
Prices in CAD. I'm tempted to go for the 380 because it's cheaper. My resolution is 2560x1080

not sure if it's worth running 3 intake instead of 2:1.
Would you use a blower-style GPU cooler?

You can't get a very big upgrade going to the 380 - it's similar tech and only a small step above your current GPU. It's never efficient to make the smaller upgrades in terms of cost, with the exception of buying and selling used parts (getting a new GPU at used prices, selling yours at used prices and having a small out-of-pocket cost due to that)
390 would be a good option but depends more on your PSU, your case airflow and the cooler on the 390 itself

It's within your budget, I might expand to 16gb if it's more flexible. Don't usually do these anymore but I had some time, Cyro will probably correct some things I'm sure. Edit: It was only within budget because the US > CA conversion didn't include a price for the motherboard, I'm at a loss then.
Thanks again for your help from before.
This is what I've decided on, I think.

RAM and motherboard are both out of stock. Hope they come in soon... I'd like to pull the trigger on this now and have it built on November 15th or so (friend is coming over and has a case for me and will help me put it together). I guess if I think they will be a long time to come back in stock, I can get another LGA1151 mobo and just get the same RAM at the $8 or whatever higher price somewhere else.
Any thoughts from anyone?
I removed the CPU cooler from your build, Firkraag8. I added in an OS, monitor, speakers, network card (haven't built a PC since 2008; I'm disappointed they still aren't integrated!) an extra HD.

likely open air style cooler, sapphire one. i kind of think how to create as much positive air pressure as possible to avoid dust, since this case look super open

blower styles respond well to tight spaces as well as just throwing a ton of intake air into the case. It's hard to say what's good without more data and good ways of testing but i think either way works ok, neither way works amazingly in that case

HAF XB case look spacious enough for either cooling options i think. as for case fan setup I can try after assembling the system. but it's gonna be harder to change gpu atfer buying, so I kind of still thinking whether to go with blower or open air. 380x is coming, although it may take some time to arrive in SG, so not sure yet

The computer with the 6700k is within spitting distance of what you'd pay to build such a computer yourself, but I'd normally build a premium computer like this myself , and have all the warranties etc in hand than buy it from some dude off craigslist. Nothing there stands out as obviously bad but I'd ask for the brand and age of the drives. That computer, if it is as advertised, should be able to play just about everything at max settings on 1440p or even 4k maybe? It's a monstrosity. Oh, the PSU might be a bit wimpy, but I don't know about the power needs of that GPU so maybe it's fine.
The computer with the 4790k is missing about $120-150 in HDD and SSD that you'd need to make it operational. You could build an identical PC, including HDD and SSD, for around $1400. It's overpriced. A computer like that, if it is as advertised, could play weak titles maxed out on 4k (like league, for example) or AAA titles maxed out on 1080p or maybe even 1440p (not sure on that).
If you're spending this much money on a computer though, in general, you're much better off building it yourself so you have control of every part from unboxing to installation, and have all the warranties etc.

What is your budget? USD $700-900ish
What is your monitor's native resolution? 1920x1080
What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, Skyrim, League of Legends, World of Warcraft. High. Ultra High on some games would be nice though.
What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Basic things with photoshop and casual streaming.
Do you intend to overclock? Not at the moment, but I might change my mind later on.
Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No.
Do you need an operating system? I was planning on getting Windows 7, but I didn't want the cost to be included in my budget.
Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? No.
If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. Nope.
What country will you be buying your parts in? The United States
If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. Newegg and amazon.
Other info I already have a "Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E250B/AM)" for primary storage, so you don't have to include that in the budget.

Thanks for the help. What I'm looking for is a computer that can Capture and game at at least 1080p/60fps at maxed settings, and stream at at least 720p/60fps. At the same time, if possible. Maybe game at at least 1440p at maxed settings when I'm not capturing/streaming.
My current crap computer's been giving me a lot of problems lately. Lately, when I'm doing something even a little memory intensive like watching a Twitch stream, the audio stutters and the computer freezes. Can't move the mouse, or use ctrl alt del, so it requires a manual restart. Decided that I want a computer that can capture/stream more quickly now, as I've been wanting one since SC2 was released, but have been unable to afford it, or really need a new computer for non-work purposes until now.
I don't know how much that's going to cost me, but I want try and get a ballpark figure so I can start saving towards a goal now. I want at least an i7 quad core of some sort. I also want to Overclock. Other than that, I don't have much I REALLY want to have.
