It's relatively good for the VP / Basiq series from Antec, which is their cheapest lineup.

Well yeah, everything is working perfectly i just wonder if it's gonna be allright with the 960 gtx 2gb (still need to replace my 550ti) also the support is different i have PCI express 2.0 instead of 3.0.. Also i just saw in the the geforce 960 details, it's saying minimum recommended system power to 400w. Does that mean anything bad if my power supply is 350w?

They also recommend a 400W power supply for the GTX 550 Ti because for many reasons it doesn't hurt to be safe and overstate things, especially with the number of crooked power supply vendors out there. Fair enough, what about the PCI express 2.0 and 3.0?

Also, PCI-E bandwidth doesn't matter like that. 2.0 x8 will give you the same FPS as 3.0 x16 even with a high end GPU. it's backwards compatible, the point where you can actually notice performance losses only comes with very low bandwidth. In practice i've only seen it with a slot running at like 1.1 x4 using a gtx770. Nvidia added a sensor for pci-e bandwidth usage recently, and IIRC it's often around only 10% on a 980 on ~3.0 x8(?) bandwidth. I didn't even really bother to look at it because it was very low, so maybe that number's a bit off On May 28 2015 11:30 ClydeFrog1 wrote: Cryo thank you for being the backbone of this thread! I would like to upgrade my RAM to the best price/quality, and the highest my MoBo can support. (I might consider upgrading MoBo in 6 months) From HWiNFO64 : Motherboard Model: ASRock H81M-HDS Motherboard Chipset: Intel H81 (Lynx Point) Current Performance Settings : Maximum Supported Memory Clock: 800.0 MHz Does this means any RAM higher than 800 Mhz (1600 for example) would run only at 800 ? Or it's what's my actual RAM is running at ? Just want to make sure I am not getting confused. Constructor webpage says : "Supports Dual Channel DDR3 1600" So if I am understanding right, the best I can get is : a kit 2x8 DDR3 1600Mhz ? No way to find a kit 2 x 16 or 1 x 16 ? I would appreciate any advises, and model suggestions. Here is my full HWiNFO64 export log : http://pastebin.com/ZsQvvArM Thanks for your help. Regards DaRa

[Edit] Just saw your mainboard only supports 2 RAM slots. So yeah just get for example 2x8GB of DDR3-1600 RAM. The lower the CAS latency (CL) the faster the RAM. You will most likely only notice the differences when running benchmarks though.

What is your budget? $500-$750, trying to stay on the low end, but I'll go up if it's worth it. What is your monitor's native resolution? 1920x1080. What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? SC2, League, Football Manager mostly. Occasional other things (e.g. Skyrim). Not really into shooters. What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Maybe streaming, but that's not a big concern. Otherwise, websurfing, homework, that sort of thing. Do you intend to overclock? Maybe, depending on the rig. Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No. Do you need an operating system? No. Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? No. If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. No. What country will you be buying your parts in? Midwestern US. If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. None. I've come up with a few different options at different price points: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/46fR99 The cheapest. Not enough? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8xM2GX http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VWRMQ7 Two in the middle. Basically the same, except that the one might be overclocked if I decide I want to deal with that. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nXtHZL The high end of my range. Is it worth the extra cost? General questions: Do I have enough power supply? Too much? Do I need to add cooling to any of them? Of all the parts, motherboards are most beyond me. Help? Do I suck? What should I do instead of this crap I came up with? Thank you!

Most likely you're just plugging your screen into the wrong place (motherboard instead of GPU) The GPU takes over output so the motherboard connection wouldn't send a signal whenever the GPU was plugged in --- On May 31 2015 11:04 Gleekus wrote: Hello. What should I do instead of this crap I came up with? Thank you! sc2, league and skyrim would prefer Intel CPU. It's more of an issue for sc2, since skyrim is 60fps capped anyway (idk how much it'd drop below 60fps with an overclocked piledriver CPU vs haswell) and league is pretty performance light so on a 60hz screen you'd probably not see a difference, though on 144hz a haswell CPU would be better. You don't need that much PSU wattage (stock intel CPU and a gtx960 at an OC use like 200 watts total, other stuff doesn't use much power) but there's not really any better options if you're counting the discount and mail in rebate from that one. There's not really anything cheaper of decent quality, and better quality PSU's even ~450w cost notably more than $35 with a lot of your cost going into psu, case, 120gb SSD+1TB HDD and 8GB of RAM, that's making up a lot of the build price. I think it's worth to go for a haswell quad core (i5 4570+) regardless of what you'll be doing ~ and then a 960 too if you want to run good graphics settings on more demanding games motherboard choice is annoying because it'd technically run on anything, but buying the cheapest mitx/matx h81 with 2 RAM slots might not be a great idea for you

Just power down, flick the PSU switch off (but don't unplug it), hit the PC power button a bunch of times and hold it in for a few seconds~ (that drains power, you will see probably at first the system comes on for a fraction of a second, then pressing more will drain leftover power, motherboard lights will go off etc if you have any) ground yourself in some way, just touching metal part of PC case should be fine i think when PSU is plugged in+turned off. ^that's just standard safety stuff mostly unnecessary but better to be safe with sensitive components :p after that you can unplug the RAM stick and replug it in, push without too much force but enough to click it in once it's lined up correctly
