Good brand GTX780s are around $650 and you can get the MSI GTX780 Ti for around $750. Since the reference cooling design is really good on these cards, paying $100 for ~20% more performance is a easy choice if you're already blowing that much on a GPU. well yeah if the 780's I were going for were 650 I would pay the extra 100. But the ones here on amazon/newegg (for america anyway) their about 500-550 for the gtx 780 classified ones. Think i'll save the 240$ if it's not too much of a difference in performance. Especially since I am only playing on 1 monitor as well. (here is the card i'm getting in a couple weeks is my plan http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Classified-Dual-Link-Graphics-03G-P4-3788-KR/dp/B00E8PAAUS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385266665&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx 780 classified)

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8573836&CatId=7387 Worth grabbing? Also: There's like 1000 different models of R9 280X, should I just go with the cheapest one? (assuming it's 3GB) I know how to overclock them, but are they overclocked? I'm looking to buy one of these 2: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8573335&csid=_61 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8585460&csid=_61 Edit: Also, how can I figure out if I have enough power? I have a 450W PSU, a Xeon (69W), 2 sticks of 4GB 1.5v RAM, a cheap H61 motherboard, 1 HDD, 1 SSD, and only 1 case fan. I would assume that I have enough power to handle it. And finally, in the images it shows two 2x4 (8-pin) power connecters... but I thought GPUs always used a combination of (2x3) 6-pin ones? At least my 7850 does.

It turns out that only NCIX's MSI 280X is partnered with AMD to give a free copy of BF4. Unfortunately, NCIX is out of stock on them. So I think I'm going to wait til they restock before getting it. If you already have/not interested in BF4, TigerDirect's deal is ok.

I'm not too concerned about BF4, I'll probably get it either as a gift or just in a humble bundle down the road. Do you know any answers to the questions I asked in my edit?

I don't know about the power requirements one, but I know that it's awhile now that the stronger video cards use 6+2pin connectors for power. I remember when I was picking out my video cards for my last build (~5 years ago), the AMD cards I was looking at 5770 - 6870 only used 1x 6pin, or something like that, but it wasn't surprising to see some nVidia and higher end AMD cards (at the time) use 6+2pin connectors.

Yeah, I think I need a new PSU. The sample builds here recommended this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066 It looks good, so I'll grab it (2x 6+2 pins) I wish that I had known these back when I was originally building $10 more on a PSU would've saved me from having to buy another one.Edit: What about the Corsair CX430M? It has the right connectors for me, it's modular, and significantly cheaper in Canada.

CX430M only has one PCIe connector so you would have to use an adapter for a R9 280x.

Do you recommend I just go with a Rosewill Capstone 450W then? The CX(5/6)00M have 2 8-pin PCIe connectors, but I don't want a bad unit, especially if it's about the same price as a Capstone.

If you want less expensive units than there's the XFX Core Edition 550 that's typically $60 ($50 after mail in rebate) and right now, NCIX has the Antec Neo Eco 520C for $55 ($40 after mail in rebate). Both are practically the same but XFX would be slightly better with its five year warranty (instead of Antec's three). Both are better than the CX500M. There's also the EVGA 500B which is less expensive but comparable / slightly better than the CX500M.

Both of those PSUs have 1x 6-pin and 1x 6+2 pin..is that sufficient to run an R9 280x? In pictures it clearly has 2x 6+2 pin connectors, but maybe only one of them needs the extra 2?

Don't get a classy unless you're not happy with ~1250mhz or it's not a notable markup

They're less powerful and more noisy (blower coolers) but exhaust a lot more air out of the back of the case, also they're cheaper i guess, and used in a lot of oem designs with bad airflow because of those etc whats the blower cooler and where is it at? how can i tell if a gpu im about to buy has one? i dont want to end up buying one thats loud

![]() This is a regular fan/open air cooler ![]() ^They're better in basically every way i think if you can set up decent airflow in your case. I had three blower cards before and was trying to get a reference cooler 770 (titan/780 stock cooler, but it didn't end up being sold here) but as soon as i got this card and was shocked how quiet it was, i realized that that was probably a bad idea
