I've been trying to get a good stream going for SC2 using OBS on my new system. I've been trying for an hour but I can't get any good results.

I would like to be able to do a smooth 1680x1050 @ 60fps. Is that a possibility for me? I'm fine with a lower resolution but I really want to run with an fps higher than 30 for that smooth playback that some streams have.

My system:

3570k @ 3.4 stock
8gb ram
HD7950
1680x1050 resolution

Speed test (Distance to server: ca 100km)

Pay no attention to the semi low download speed. I'm usually pushing 180-190mb. Speedtest.net for some reason never seems to go above 130.

Too high resolution for 60fps, what clock speed is your CPU at? If it's at 4.6 or something, I'd say go 45fps, if not then step down to 1.5x resolution downscale and 60fps.

You should of course use the Veryfast encoding preset, and try streaming and offline recordings, to see if you can isolate any issues - link stream VOD's where you have issues if you have issues both online and off.

CPU is running stock at 3.6GHz

What about max bitrate, buffer size and that Quality Balance option?

Stock is 3.4ghz plus turbo boosting

Bitrate, put it to 4000 if you can. Make sure you find a good server, it sometimes takes a bit of work. You can lower it if you are unpartnered because some viewers might have trouble watching - but 2-4k is good, higher = better quality. For both, i'd say just put quality 10, and i would reccomend overclocking if your motherboard and cooling are appropriate.

3.4ghz to 4.5ghz overclock would increase your minimum FPS in sc2 by potentially as much as 45-50% and give higher ceilings for stream encoding settings

Thanks for the advice. I'll tinker a bit more tomorrow and see what happens. Yeah I have a Asus P8Z77 Le Plus and a H100i so I plan to OC, but I just built the system and I wanted to wait like a month or so before I do that.

Overclock it! If there's going to be a problem, it's better to find out now rather than a couple months down the road. Like Cyro said, you'll get a pretty significant increase in performance with a good overclock, and you should have no problems getting there with your cooler. Just make sure you know what you're doing

What has been wrong with your stream though? Are you dropping frames? Or are you getting low FPS in-game while streaming?

Greetings guys, my question is, if I plug 3 cameras which all of them have a microphone, also 2 headsets, all those 5 in the USBs, and I would like to capture only the microphones of the 2 headsets, not all of the cams' mics' and headsets together, how should I do that ? Thx in advance.

I overclocked my 3570k to 4.4GHz and I got the stream running nicely during the day while streaming Path of Exile. My friend watched it and it was flawless at 1680@60fps while I was running around killing monsters with my LA Ranger.

Later in the evening I tried playing SC2 on the stream in a unit editor (Micro 3.0) having two teams of 10 lings, 10 roaches, 10 hydras, and 10 mutas fight each other. Neither 1680 or 720@60, 45 or 30 fps would work, it lagged horribly they said. Meanwhile I was sitting on around 80-100 fps ingame while stream was running. If I do local recordings everything is fine, and the vods from the laggy stream on Twitch also run and look great.

Pictures of settings that were used on PoE both local and stream and SC2 on local. No problems.

I tried the same settings for SC2 on the stream and there was horrible lag. Turning it down to 720@45 or 30 fps didn't change anything.

Also I remember seeing that I had about 1.5% dropped frames in the OBS window during 720p.

I also tried using game capture while running SC2 in fullscreen and desktop capture when windowed fullscreen. No change.

Before I transition into wrist surgery, does anyone have any advice?

If your VODs look fine then the problem was on the viewer or Twitch's end.

Yeah I just did some more testing and realized that it's on Twitch's end. I can view the stream fine from another computer next to me and I see on OBS that the bitrate sometimes dips down a lot resulting in dropped frames. So apparently there is no problem on my end.

If you see dropped frames in OBS itself, the problem is on your end or your connection to Twitch. Usually caused by picking a bad server or network problems.

Is it possible that Twitch is cutting of bandwidth allocation for my stream to viewers because of low viewer count or anything like that?

If you have the time. Watch and tell me. For the past 10 minutes I've had 0 dropped frames and the stream on my laptop next to me is running flawlessly. Yet my friends are complaining about lag.

Edit: Well after almost an hour of streaming SC2 and PoE, with under 0.25% dropped frames in 700p, and a flawless VOD I can only assume that any problems that occur are on Twitch's side.

Dropping a frame every 5-10 seconds consistently (OR) dropping a whole bunch at once more than once or twice is a little cause for concern, though, not really too important

How do I download the 64 bit version of OBS? I don't see an option anywhere to download it, and when I googled it I didn't see anything new.

64bit OBS version is already included. Check in start menu or where you installed obs (64bit folder).

Is there a good way to only stream audio from one thing? I usually hang out in a Teamspeak with friends but I really only want to have the audio coming from DotA 2 or Starcraft 2 on stream.
