**EDIT** Updated test stream with settings
Ok, i've been tweaking the settings for a while after setting up. For the setup, you don't need to do anything with VH Multicam studio if you use VHscrcap as a camera. You would set it up like this rather than using VH Multicam to set resolution.+ Show Spoiler +
Besides that, the setup isn't too bad, but the thing I find lacking is the VHscrcap camera quality in comparison with xsplit screen capture. The video quality is good, but seems to get a bit pixellated when a lot of things are happening around the screen. Here are 2 reference videos I took playing SC2 as well as Osu! while using the settings in the screenshot provided.
If you already use an external camera while using the free version of xsplit, then I would wholeheartedly say to switch over to FFSplit, as FFSplit allows up to 1080p 30fps as well as 320kbps Stereo audio quality. Though it lacks some of the convenience xsplit provides, if you only focus on streaming pure gaming content, rather than putting on a show with overlays and such, this is the perfect program.

Whats your upload speed? Usually the only time streams get pixelated is when its buffering because there isnt enough upload speed.

You can change the bitrate though. You can do 1080p in FFSplit. Just found that out. Last night when I started using ffsplit and wrote this guide, i thought that I had to use a drop box for the res and didnt even think to type in the resolution i wanted. I do know for sure though that the highest fps available is 30.

Yeah, 30 fps is currently the cap. I tried changing it in the settings.ini but it fails to go live, heh.

I have 650kbps set as the video bitrate. Yes, my upload speed is really limited for streaming, but in terms of that, I'm saying that xsplit screen region capture is better for lower upload it seems, than vhscrcap. If you look at some of my older recordings, it seems clearer than the test vids that I did for vhscrcap+ffsplit.
*btw, can you give us a sample video of your stream?
**I'm going to try dxtory now as camera :d

Wait, what is that second program beneath?
I do not recognize that.
edit: Ohhh that's the VH Capture thing. You don't use that.
Under Hmelyoff Labs (where VH Capture is) there should be another folder called VHScrCap, and in that folder there should be a program named Config. Close FFSplit, open the "config" program, hit "create new one." Under the "capture" tab enter your resolution, then in the Settings tab select "capture mouse", "resize to output size, and "keep aspect." Nothing else should be checked.

edit 2: and up your video bitrate to something more like 2250. 1000 is not going to cut it for 720p.

VhScrCapture
Edit: Seems like the video is working for some reason now, but it lagging so badly.

What's the fps/ping hit like in game compared to Xsplit?
|
On June 18 2012 12:41 scottyyy wrote: What's the fps/ping hit like in game compared to Xsplit? its not bad at all. lets say xsplit did like a 10% hit, ffsplit is about a 6% hit

Ping is exactly the same. It's all based on bandwidth usage. The fps is just the video capture device encoding. I think it's about the same as xsplit screen region capture (vhscrcap that is).

Been using FFSplit for almost a week now since XSplit messes up with my video card. Had some problems setting it up but once I find a good video/sound source combination, it's been good so far.
Really miss R1ch's scene switcher that's used with Xsplit/SC2 but that's pretty much it.
look at some of the VODs on my stream to see some of the differences in xsplit/ffsplit, used xsplit on the 12/13th and switched to FFsplit after that. http://bit.ly/MBNVKD

Hey guys, FFsplit is pretty fucking incredible, really nice find aero, thanks a lot for that .. However, i'm having a few small problems with quality.
Settings :
Bitrate - 3750 Resolution - 1920x1080 Frame rate - 30 Audio bitrate - 320 Preset - Default
Vod : http://www.twitch.tv/rakoons/b/321937471
It looks really nice but it doesn't look as good as some 1080p streams e.g. - Destiny, whitera etc
What can i do to increase the quality?
