I`ve done everything right in the tutorial and still drops. I also tried in a different computer and connection with 20 mb upload rate and nothing. I lowered everything etc but the internet doesn`t drop, neither ingame fps etc.. I don`t know if it is just me or.. either way it`s really frustrating to deal with. I might aswell just go back to Xsplit :/. I'm having this problem, as well. I have UAC off, connected to the lowest ping server, have my microphone source turned off, ran as an admin, have lowered my settings (despite being above and beyond the system/internet requirements) Whether I'm attempting 1080p at 7000 bitrate or 720p at 3500, both will be completely smooth and perfect for a period of time until it just stops working. I've used both default and pre-set encoders. I've set my audio devices to have exclusive control. It works perfectly, beyond my expectations even, but never for more than 10 minutes. I've followed all the directions, in all the guides written- I promise. My speedtest is 20mb and my debug console shows that I can comfortably upload at the speed I set it to (3500 or 7000.) However, it just stops working at random times and I have no idea why. Any outside-the-guide help would be appreciated, although I get the feeling there is a flaw in the program somewhere causing this. I am certainly not the only one experiencing these problems. can u post ur FFsplit settings?
and so weird that yours is working now. i`ve seen every topic in FFsplit`s forum and if im not mistaken an admin posted there that he is aware of this problem and they`re trying to fi it. lots of people apprently having the same issue !

I get the same problem, my stream runs perfectly smooth, but stops streaming at the same amount of time consistently since the last update ( 3 minutes and 35 seconds into the streaming process ). I have had to change video sources since it won't come up as an option to use anymore ( have to use VHScrCap which I like cause it seems to run smoother, but now the stream stops ). Not sure if those 2 are related or not.

So I tested out FFsplit and tried to stream at 1080p res but a few minutes into the stream the broadcast automatically stopped. I believe it is because my settings were off, and I have no clue what they should be.
i5-2500k 3.30 GHz 7 Mbps upload speed 1680x1050 res
Any idea what the ideal settings for my FFsplit would be? thank you!

Any idea what the ideal settings for my FFsplit would be? thank you! I do not understand what people mean by settings being "off". If you can handle to stream at x quality with the software, you should be able to stream with that quality with the software. I doubt it stops because of the quality settings.

I don't think it's possible to stream on a resolution higher than what your screen can render?

Sorry I guess I should rephrase my question. What are the highest settings that my computer can handle on FFsplit without the software stopping mid stream. If it's not stopping because quality settings, then any idea why?
I don't think it's possible to stream on a resolution higher than what your screen can render? I stream at 1680 x 1050 but i refer to that as 1080p its just that my monitor is a different aspect ratio.
Any help?

You have to use 1680x1050. 1680x1050 is 16:10 while 1920x1080 is 16 so it is 2 different aspect ratios. Also, if that is your max resolution on your monitor, it wont be possible to stream 1080p.

Stream works and all but the stream screen is black when I play dota. Any idea on how to fix it ? It does work with wc3 but it shows it windowed when it should be the entire screen tt
|
you cant play a game in fullscreen and stream it. With games like wc3, only way to stream it is to play it in windowed mode, same as bw. With dota, just play it in windowed fullscreen.

You can stream almost any games in fullscreen, though you need dxtory for the video settings.

"the backgroundWorker is currently busy and cannot run multiple tasks concurrently"
any idea what that means? ffsplit is failing to stream for me

I had this same problem, just try to keep uninstalling and installing, worked for me.

My stuff went from perfect, never crashing, to broken and unable to even start up in 0.5.0.4 FFMPEG specifically keeps crashing. Tried reinstalling/restarting/all of the obvious things, and trying a new stream key incase it got reset, but no dice. No big deal for someone like me, but I hope it gets hotfixed!

Dxtory works the way it does because it uses OpenGL is a source, rather than screen region. Therefore, it doesn't matter whether it's windowed or windowed fullscreen, so long as it's an OpenGL game.
Whereas if you're using ffsplit overlay, screen region isn't necessarily pulling screen region from the pixels you've selected on your monitor, it's pulling pixels from the screen region on your desktop. When games are launched in fullscreen, those two regions don't necessarily line up However, if you use fullscreen windowed (or regular windowed) then they are, because it's actually just a giant window displayed on your desktop.
I'm no expert on the subject and I'm sure someone from FFsplit could explain it more delicately than me, but in a general laymans sense, that's what's so special about DXtory (similarly, why it freezes when you tab out- because it can't pull from OpenGL when nothing is being rendered and the desktop isn't OpenGL.)

Thank you for this guide !!
I have some lags with XSplit, + the FPS Drop problem of SC2, I wanted to try something different.
I stream in 960*540 to avoid any lags. Maybe I'll be able to stream in higher quality as this program looks less "heavy" than XSplit in ressources.
How should I choose my bitrate? I've set it to 2000, but I dunno if it's good or not.
Thanks,
Zepiii
EDIT : It it possible to have 2 scenes? At least one with black screen while streaming, to quicly check mails and things like that without showing it the streamers but without shutting down the stream?

You can track a specified window, from the Overlay.

Hey! Great guide, but when I start the stream, I have the sizzling sounds :/ a solution?

Hey, I have a quick question. I use 1000 kbps to stream (my upload speed is about 1.47 Mbps), and I am wondering what video encode preset I should be using. I am guessing Default? Thanks.

Depends on your system, whats your CPU?

Hey guys, please help me out setting up my stream with ffsplit. I am looking for the best possible streaming quality with these specs, possibly without reducing my gaming performance too much . ( i play on extreme with with AA and a few settings off) I5 2500k 8 gig ram hd 7850 oc 20 mbit upload speed. 1920*1080 native res.
Thank you in advance for help.
