Yeah, the i5 2500k is a beast at overclocking, i have a really good CPU cooler as well, it's huuuuuuuuuuge (noctua NH-D14).

Running on Superfast etc will take a lot of load off CPU.
My apologies, i misread the encoding @60fps part, but i can hold 50fps on stream at 1920x1080 @superfast with around 160fps in game staring at probes (just tested for 15 mins now), i doubt 60fps is out of reach with a higher end overclock, its far from ideal if you are going into more stressful scenes, but holding 60fps while capturing at 60fps (far bigger performance hit than 30) in a maxed battle with AOE is going to be very difficult regardless of encoding.
When i made that post i was thinking more about performance hit from capturing 60fps instead of 30, but derped a little on the encoding higher resolution as well, so sorry there
As for current CPU's, i have an overclocked 3770k downstairs that benchmarks ~50% higher than this one, i think a 1920x1080@60fps@superfast stream would be viable on something like that but i dont have sc2 on that system yet.

Well, yeah, obviously staring at probes i get > 200 fps, but that's hardly realistic.... plus im using a default preset and a 3600 kbit bitrate... as well as recording....

Preset and Bitrate have no effect on framerate for me unless im hitting 100% on CPU core/s from being too stressful preset

I keep gettting "FFsplit has stopped unexpectedly " , even though I chose to run it as Admin and disabled UAC. Anyone else having that same problem?

You have to adjust your settings to fit your pc. FFsplit may take some load off of your cpu, but is no where near as tolerate when it comes to connection speed. if you come anywhere close to your max bitrate while streaming, FFsplit will more than likely shut down. It took me a while to figure that out and alot of people who are limited by connection speed will end up having the same issue.

I'll do that! Thanks I give up. I tried everything and it's simply not working for me

i had issues where it wouldn't update

Can't get this to work at all. Set it up properly and my preview works, but it won't start streaming and when I click the "start" button I can't turn the program off and I can't stop the stream. The program claims to be streaming but on twitch it's offline. My debug looks like this:
[00:48:42:553] Debug Console 0.4 started on 2012-07-25 [00:50:30:668] Recording... [00:50:31:669] Initializing Stream....
Then nothing happens.

There's an issue with 5.1 Audio Speakers. Go to Sound options. Select your default playback device, rightclick configure and select Stereo. There are a few guides on how to set up the audio in the Getting Started section.

Just a reminder to the many people having issues with this. The most common are that you need to turn off UAC (start --> search box --> "UAC") and also right click the shortcut you use for the program, go to properties, advanced, and check the "run as administrator" option. And, as has been pointed out many times.
From this thread and being in their irc chat sometimes, it seems that most people just aren't thoroughly reading and complying with the installation guide on the ir actual site. While this thread is a nice gesture for that, the program is too 'quirky', if you will, for the simplified OP guide.
Try this guide from their main site: http://www.ffsplit.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=235&sid=e392fc14309f65aa0f0a73b7b88510d3
It goes more in depth. Also, skip the sections about dxtory and virtual audio cables. And make sure that you're using ffsplit overlay as your capture source and not anything else. I either read it on the site or heard it from the main dude but anything but the native capturing isn't fully supported yet.
And, honestly, since it's a superior guide to the OP, you should probably just delete the OP and reference people to that. Otherwise we'll probably just keep seeing the same failures in this thread, over and over, as we have. Failures which I think are majorly user-end.
If you've gone through everything suggested in this post, then you can worry about playaing with your upload speeds to see if that's the reason why your stream is dying out.
Also, one last thing I'll toss out is that I when you click the overlay button next to the video source selection, and go to the options tab - my stream was never stable or long lasting while on high capture. But I haven't gone back to test this yet after fixing what were really my main issues (run as admin).

I can't generate a mask, i've set the transparency values to 0,0,0 and i set the mask as 0,0,0 and it won't work, can someone help me?
nvm got it working

Wow, this thing works great, especially with my not-so-very-great PC & Internet speeds. Time to try it out with SC, though....

I use a notebook with GT540M i5-2520m 2.50GHz, 4 ram and 1 internet upload rate. What settings would you guys recommend to try?

What settings would you guys recommend to try? thats not a quad core cpu so it may not work well for you at all. You can still attempt it though. Try 640x360 25 fps 425 bitrate 96k audio bitrate mono
